Take the reviews with a grain of salt, they are all given free guitars.

Lots of cheap beginner brand name guitars on Gumtree / Facebook Marketplace. Better to pick up a Squier or something there and then you can resell for the same price if you get bored of it.

I would consider reading the reviews online about this place before buying it. Lots of people aren't saying good things about this company

Usually people with bad experiences share their views online - People with good experiences move on with their lives.

        Yes, this is very true.

However, in this instance, I recall a recent deal posted and some Ozbargainers pointed out some serious concerns with this company in regards to customer service. One example was a drum kit purchased for around $500 and the return process was twisted in such a way that they needed to return it to Hong Kong and the postage costs were around $500 to do so…

      • That averages out, if a similar company has better real reviews, which do you choose?

For cheapo guitars Artist has been my go to for years. Located in Australia, great service, good instruments for budget prices.

Possibly an OK project guitar for an experienced guitarist, but I wouldn't recommend this to a beginner.

Without explaining why -you'll just have to trust me, if you are at all serious about learning guitar but don't want to spend a whole lot of money until you are certain it's for you, do yourself a favour and pay the modest premium for an entry level unit from Yamaha i.e. PAC012, Cort G110, Squier Affinity Tele or Strat, or if you must have a LP shape, Epiphone.

I'm no brand snob, hey I bought an Aldi Tele & still have it, but you'll thank me later.

    • So true….and if you can stretch your budget a little bit more go for the Yamaha revstar series. I recently 'downgraded' from a Gibson SG and holy guacamole…

    • Aldi Tele

Thanks for your mod tips a while back. I've upgraded nearly everything to decent black hardware and enjoy noodling the Aldicaster. Cheers.

      • My pleasure. Glad it worked for you too.

      • Thanks for your mod tips a while back.

        Anyone got a link? :)

    • I do like the look of a tele. I gave mine away. Kind of miss it. How many fingers have you lost on the Aldi one?

      • Surprisingly the fretwork on the one I bought from the final year batch before Aldi stopped selling them (02/2018) was clean. No sharp or protruding ends. Fret ends had been filed and dressed. Easily the quality equivalent or better of a (AUD$349 at the time) Squier Affinity Tele. After a setup and restring, perfectly acceptable for a first/beginner guitar.

        • Curious. I wouldn't mind checking them out if they sell them again. Something to mess around with.

Donner are great! Got my ukelele and violin from them. Bargain price for bargain quality instruments.

  • If you buy a cheap guitar, you need to buy a second guitar later, even the entry-level Yamaha sucks.

The bass I got on the last deal is fantastic

    • Just tried the code for the bass and it's the same price as this, should have bought it the last time when it was below $100.
