    $18 for a wooden crate…?

Sorry i mean "$50 RRP for a wooden crate??"

yep, milk crates are the correct width
      .

Depends on the milk crate unfortunately. Some have ridges that will damage the sleeves. Unfortunately I haven't had any luck finding ones that don't have this.
I don't know if it's a modern vs old school crate thing.

        • ours are 15+ yrs old

Funnily enough I read something the other day about the industry changing manufacturing specs because the loss of milk crates was costing the industry so much.

          • @tomsco: Exactly right.
For period-correct vinyl storage you want an old school milk crate as seen in every student house before they changed the dimensions to stop this. Students also used to pinch them to make free bed frames so I think loss from outside milk bars was a real problem.

@King Tightarse: Ah student days, squats, share houses & other stories…
Bed bases, shelving, storage, & other furniture made from milk crates.
Old turntable & stereo sitting on milk crates, with vinyl stored in other milk crates.
Milk crates were handy when moving to new place. Much more sturdy than cardboard boxes & stacked securely.

        • The $5 crates from Bunnings have been perfect for me. Not great for stacking, but they're perfect width to flip through your LPs.

          • @supafly: Hey mate, would you mind linking to what you use. Interested in buying something for mine.

Maybe the second one for LPs as they are ~31 x 31cm.

  • Has OP purchased? Has anyone purchased from this store before?

Yes I've got a window cleaner on the way!

I bought the ones from the reject job for about this price. For shoes originally but they fit records. If you have hard floors, cut a piece of spare carpet to match the base and hot glue it. Soft and slidey.

  • That saves sourcing two milk crates…

  • Doesn't seem like much of a deal, given shipping price.

Not a bad deal if you're getting two or something else from TVSN. - been meaning to post a window cleaner deal from them that's still running.

However I'd suggest getting a Flexi Cube storage shelf from bunnings as these fit perfectly. I have about 150 on mine as it stands and the cleaner and accessories in one square.

  • Good find OP, even with the delivery on each item still a cracking deal for this brand and storage. Bought 2.
    Cheers.

  • Sorry for the lack of detail on this post - it was really early in the morning:) I received mine and it seems ok - I just put knick knacks in it now, besides for the equivalent of $15 its a low cost investment.
