Google One Storage Monthly/Yearly 100GB (A$0.50/$5.02) 200GB (A$1.00/$10.04) 2TB (A$2.51/$25.11) @ Google Turkey (VPN Required)

7420

Reposting this deal from 2021, credits to the original poster @Pricebeat and @neo479

Due to the significant change in currency exchange rates, prices are now around 50% lower than last year. I've done the currency conversions from Turkish Lira to Australian Dollars and the percentage of savings so you don't have to :)

Storage Monthly Cost (% Savings) Yearly Cost (% Savings)
100 GB AUD $0.50 (80% off AUD RRP) AUD $5.02 (80% off AUD RRP)
200 GB AUD $1.00 (77% off AUD RRP) AUD $10.04 (77% off AUD RRP)
2 TB AUD $2.51 (80% off AUD RRP) AUD $25.11 (80% off AUD RRP)
5 TB AUD $12.58 AUD $125.78
10 TB AUD $25.15 N/A
20 TB AUD $50.30 N/A
30 TB AUD $75.45 N/A

I remember doing this on an iPhone a few months back (as I don't have an android). So I'm guessing the device does not matter. I just resubscribed today to a new plan, on a PC. So here's my experience, and it took literally minutes.

Step 1: Change your Google payment profile to Turkey. If needed, use a fake address simulator like this one

Step 2: VPN (fly) to Turkey using the deal link above (I used the free Windscribe Chrome extension; although it was a bit tricky since Windscribe kept connecting me to random Turkey locations - in this case just disconnect and reconnect until you land on Istanbul or something, or use a different VPN. Nord VPN does not work). if the currency is shown in Turkish Lira, you've hit the jackpot

Step 3: Subscribe to the plan of your choice. Use a credit/debit card (preferedly with no international fees)

Step 4: Fly back home

EDIT 2:27 AM: After serious testing I've found the following:

  1. Regards to AussieMark's comment here

    • I just did some testing and it looks like you can share your Google One with family members - IT'S POSSIBLE! The only catch is you have to add the family members / accounts into the family first, before taking one of the accounts and subscribing through this deal. TO ADD FAMILY MEMBERS GO TO https://families.google.com/families

  2. For those who currently have Youtube Premium from Argentina, and want to sign up to this deal on top on the Google account - IT'S POSSIBLE, simply create a new payment profile for Turkey

    • If pricing initially shows Turkish but switches back to AUD, try this method: You might see the 3 columns show Australian pricing, but select the 2tb and go to next screen and check it changes to TRY currency. if this doesn't work, then I think you have to delete the Australian payment profile. You can always make a new one after, but be aware that deleting your Australian profile will destroy all your Google Play Credits
    • You can create a new payment profile by following these steps by alcheron: go to https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/settings and clicking the pen icon next to "Country/Region" and a link to create a new profile should pop up. You can then add details for the Turkish profile.

Hope this helps!

EDIT 12:00 PM: You need to turn on family sharing after signing up to this plan to actually share the storage. To do this, go to the Google One site and click on the Gear settings icon (alternatively click on this link, then go to "Manage Family Settings" and toggle it on. This step assumes you've sared it with other members before signing up to this plan, as you cannot add family members anymore after if their account locations are not in the same country

Please note the process can be easy for some people, harder for others, or may not work at all. Copying some notes from @bargainsgrabber

  • There is no need for aggression in instances where you are unable to subscribe to an international Netflix account. Share your experience so everyone can chip in and help out. There are plenty of examples where hacks shared on this platform do not work for some people, but may work for others:
    • Modem reset for faster internet,
    • Cash back program purchase tracking,
    • Price matching an unobtainable deal or price error,
    • Targeted bargains, and
    • Limited quantity items quickly or instant (bot) sellout.
  • Similarly we know there are cash back users who follow every single step for cash back (turn off ad blocker, have no items in cart, do not click other links, etc.) on their purchases and it does not work, its probably best to move on.There are many users who successfully use this hack and enjoy paying half the price of the Australian membership. Unfortunately there are also many users who have been unable to sign up to Netflix Turkey or Argentina. After all it is intended for people who reside in Turkey or Argentina. If it does not work, I am not affiliated with any of the entities listed below or linked to and cannot guarantee any outcome. I can only read comments on this platform and others to share them with you. Your patience is appreciated. Please do not take it personally.

I appreciate the effort you went to check this. Thank you.

    • So I'm using my secondary Google account for this, I have my Argentina YT setup on it with an Argentenian payment profile.

I also have an Australian profile + a Turkey one on the same account. For some reason, when I switch to the Turkey one, it has a critical error notification on top: "Your payments profile is currently suspended".

Any idea what could be a work around in this case?

      • Delete the Turkey profile and make a new one

    • Can you share with family account, if all the other members of the family account are already "in" another country? (E.g. India for YouTube premium).

      • Should be able to, just make sure the family system is set up before joining the deal

    • So I tried to follow these steps and wasn't able to make it work with a secondary account.

I added an Australian account to my existing family account.
I then created a Turkish payment profile for that account and removed the Australian profile.
When I go to subscribe, I'm still presented with AU prices.

To confirm this, as soon as I removed this account from my family I immediately saw Turkish prices again.

      • I have a family system of 6 right now, and the main account (family manager) has 2 profiles - Turkey and Argentina. All other accounts in the family are Australian accounts.

I signed up to this plan using the main acc (family manager acc)

        • Gotcha! Thanks for clarifying!

So in theory these steps should work:

          1. Disband my existing Google One family account, and cancel the existing subscriptions
          2. Create a new account to be the main account, initially based in Australia
          3. Create a family account and invite my real accounts to it
          4. Ensure storage sharing is switched on
          5. Create a Turkish payment profile on the main account, and delete the Australian profile
          6. Using a VPN, purchase Google One storage at Turkish prices

Then I guess I can either change the main account back to Australia, or leave it based in Turkey.

    • Does deleting the previous payment profile affect the YT premium subscription in any way?

    • Hey, Thanks for the tips.

When I try to close my Argentina payment profile, I get the following warning:

When you close this profile, the service(s) below will be cancelled:
      * YouTube

Will I lose YouTube Premium access?

      Thanks

  • my main google account has been stuck in india since i signed up to youtube india some 3 years ago. even to this day, with an Australian payment profile, i still get everything priced at rupees on google. it frustrates me to no end. thankfully i have a google account that's still setup as an Australian account and I can access the AU play store, otherwise i won't be able to download any of my banking or finance apps.

When i tried for this deal on turkish VPN, the one google subscription page shows rupee instead of aud or lira. Just brings me back to how buggy google's payment profile system is. I've rage deleted all my payment profiles now and see if it will reset back to AUD once I create one tomorrow.

    • let us know how it goes

    • This Turkey thing has ruin my main google account. Everything is displayed in TRY and the google play store is now in TRY.. I wish I had this warning before attempting this. It's actually ruin my whole google account. Has anyone been able to fix this. I actually don't think its worth the trouble.

      • yes there's a stopgap fix as per my post, if you have a secondary australian account, just switch to that as your main profile in playstore, everything will revert to Australian.

        • Could you explain this further, I'm not quite getting what you meant?

My family account that's a member of the "admin" account I did all the TUR stuff on, is still showing TRY. When I switch to a account thats not a member of the family its AUD. But either way my main account that is a member is still all on TUR dollars even tho the store profile is showing AUSTRALIA.

          • @postform: just create a new google Australian account, use that to login into play store. This account shouldn't be in the turkish family profile you set up.

            • @plentifoo: ok I thought so.. Problem is this is my main account I've attached to the family.. :/ As long as it doesn't really hinder my gpay or google services, should be fine I guess.

I feel like this is a HUGE caveat and there should be a huge warning..

              • @postform: no it doesn't affect google pay, playstore location changes only happens once a year, you can switch it back to Australia next year, until then a spre Australian google account let me download Australian apps onto my phone.

edit: thing is, if done correctly, your playstore country shouldn't change, somewhere along the way we over complicated the process and had our play store country changed. Mine changed because of YT india deal a while back. Getting google one storage was way easier.

                • @plentifoo: When you mean change the playstore location you mean on the family admin account right (The account with all the TUR stuff on it)?

Because my main account, in the settings says it's "Australia" but still displays app/prices in TUR. Where as my family admin account when looking at the settings says "Turkey". So when you mean change the playstore location you mean change the TUR to AU.

Then I wonder what will happening to the renewal for google one, whether that'll revert back to AU prices.

                  • @postform: here's the thing - if you add members to this family after you signed up for the turkish deal, each member needs to be IN TURKEY in order to be part of the family, otherwise google will not allow you to add a family member in a different country. that's why in alot of the posts here, most people have advised to create the family before you sign up to any VPN deals, so only the main admin account's profile needs to change to TURKEY.

That said, it can't be confirmed yet whether admin country changes trickles down to members. This steps weren;t available when i got YT india, so I had to change each members country profile to India so they could join my family. At first I was annoyed that i only had access to the Indian playstore (getting a new phone and having to download Aussie banking apps was the biggest worry) then I realise it wasn't that big of an issue with an alternate Aussie account anyway, but I don't buy apps and stuff on playstore so i don't care if my main playstore profile was broken anyway.

As for payment renewals, just as long as the admin/payment google account is setup with the correct country payment profile, you should be fine. Or at least have multiple existing country profiles even though not active. I think that's how most people successfully setup YT in argentina and google one in turkey for instance.

  • Did any take this deal on top of YouTube premium. From Argentina?

  • For me, it's a bit of work because I had Payment Profile from India, USA and Australia. I deleted all of these and just kept Argentinian (for YouTube) and Turkey (Google One). In the end, I managed to get it working and prepaid Google One service for one year in Turkish Lira. Fingers crossed that Google is smart enough to charge me Argentinian Peso for my YouTube subscription next month :D

PS: I found my answer - go to your Google Account -> Payments & Subscriptions -> Subscriptions. Here's where you can verify which payment profile applies to each of your subscriptions.

Update: I went to Google Play Store and now all apps and movies are showing in TRY. For example: Football Manager 2022 Mobile is TRY 84.99 while GTA: San Andreas is TRY 29.99. Movies: Spiderman No Way Home, rent from TRY 3.99 and buy from 14.99. Is this a good thing?

In the meantime, Jason Statham's movie, Wrath of Man, is showing as Intikam Vakti on my Play Store :D. This is no biggie for me because I've never bought anything from Play Store so no worries. It looks like free apps from Australia can still be accessed because Kogan still spamming their shopping app as "suggested for you" on my phone.

    • Did you sign up Google One on your phone or PC?

      • I did this on PC as it's easier to navigate in the payment menu.

    • i'm wondering if this has repercussions on your ability to change country once a year on your gpay. ie cant change back to .au as their policy?

I already had .au google one which i cancelled and was going to try switching to Turkey. Didn't work as my Google One 2tb remains active until end of billing date and its recognizing only .au even though i've created the Turkey profile and had turkey vpn enabled.

edit: nvm alcheron above already commented on it..

      • On the same boat here, have an existing au one subscription although I cancelled it, just like yours, is active till mid August so it is still showing au prices only although I created Turkey payment profile and Turkey VPN on

        • Did you manage to figure this out? Also have an existing One subscription expiring mid-Nov and can't seem to get the TRY prices to appear even with VPN but I presume it's because my existing benefits are still active

          • +1

@illumination: No, I ended up renewing for another year using Australian subscription using the rewards credits so there's that

    • Just FYI - my card provider, 28 Degrees, called me to verify that I've authorised Google Turkey to debit my card. I replied, "yes please". Looking good.

  • I already pay $120+ a year for Dropbox. Is it worth it just for the advanced photo search functions? Not pro photographer

    • I use it mainly for storing photos and videos and sharing them with family overseas, and it works flawlessly. For $25 a year i can't complain. I just upload everything from my phone, can search by location as well photos are gps tagged, etc.

    • Depends what you use DropBox for. Google Photos is Googles best product IMO. If you're uploading documents etc to DropBox and not just photos then no, no real advantage.

Thanks OP, was trying to upgrade to 2T, will try the fam share,

    • How did it go?

  • -3

I used this and they terminated my account and after contacting google support to recover data they accused me of committing fraud.

    • Oh really. Reading this I don't know if I want to setup on my main google account. Cannot take risk with years of Emails and photos

So can you access your Gmail now for the same Acc.

    • Have you got more info on this?

    • Thanks for the info.

I’m not risking my main account for this. Its a pass for me.

    • -1

      Nice try google rep

    • +1

Proof pls, otherwise I am convinced this is a troll.

      • -1

I called them and they siad I commited fraud and when I told them I lived in different countries so this account I made when I lived overseas still that idiot didn't recover my account

        • +8

I asked for proof, not another recollection

    • aaahhhhcchBS..CHooo. Troll

  • I don't see an option to delete an existing Australian profile. Can anyone link me?

  • +1

I'm currently running this as an alt account just for google photo backup from last year's post.

Just one crucial thing is you cannot family share this unless their account is also set to Turkey. (Unlike Youtube Premium)

FYI Playstore will be Turkey (have to sideload some app that is not available) and maybe some problem with Google pay (haven't tried since mine is not main).

Also if you have Google play store credit in AUS and delete that profile you lose access to it and have to wait a year so you can change back to AUS.

Would be great if someone cover more indepth on Family sharing (Aus accounts) prior to setting one up

    • This is true and I found this out the hard way. Looks like it is reversible but you'll have to remove your account from the family itself. Only other way is to change the existing family member to AUSTRALIA. But i'm unsure how this will affect the existing subscriptions of google one and if they'll charge you the difference between TUR and AUS

  • Apologies for the blatant thread hijack, but has anyone successfully done the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription via Turkey recently?

  • +1

Forget doing this on your main. I'm on 100gb on my main that hasn't expired yet. I just created a new email went to Google One and it offered Turkish prices right away while connected to this Turkish VPN on my android phone.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=vpn.turkey

If you want you can also use a single use credit card from Zip Pay so they can't charge you on renewal.

    • Do you then family share with your main Australian account?

    • Why forget it?

Ok but how does this work with all the files in your main account?

      • You need to delete your aus payment profile on main account then add turkey then send invite to your main email account to share because you have to be in the same country.

        • You need to add the family members before deleting the AU payment profile and signing ip

  • If only this was available for iCloud haha

  • After the head (profanity) of failing to get Disney plus in TRY. I'm not even going to bother.

  • Can you pay via Google pay reward credits??

    • No if you have Aus credit

  • I have an AUD and INDIA profile, I deleted the Australia one, which said it is used for playstore and books. I create a new Turkey profile. VPN and subscribe, so everything works for Google One. Now, I re-create the AUD profile, can someone please teach me how to make my default back to the AUD profile? everything in playstore is shown in TRY. Thanks in advance.

Note: It might not be too bad leaving it in TRY, since many things are cheaper in TRY anyway.

  • +1

This came at a good time as I wanted to get rid of my dropbox account

  • Original Pixel FTW!

  • +3

Yeah can’t seem to get this going on iPhone. Every time I click the link it keeps showing Aussie prices even after deleting my Australian payment profile.
Edit: Got it working by opening it up in incognito.

  • +3

If you actually use Google pay in store or have Google rewards credits stored up, this deal isn't for you.

It requires you deleting your Australian payment profile and you'll lose all that ability.

Not worth the hassle for me

    • Have you figured out way to pay yearly for google one when google rewards is not sufficient but you want to pay rest with credit card?

    • yeah, I'm int he same boat… i've got some credits stored up on my AU profile… is there a way to delete my profile without losing my credits?
or do I have to spend my credits before I delete by AU profile.

      • +1

You need to spend them first, otherwise the unspent portion is wasted

  • anyone with new Turkey gmail account signed up this deal then invite your AU account? Seeing it is shared up to 5 accounts…

I got hit by "you are not in the same country which i click to join group"

    • You cannot family share unless other people profile is also set to Turkey

  • -1

As my mother in law once said: "don't trust the cloud. They will look at all your data. Storing important files on your C drive is the safest place"

    Lol

  • -4

How tf I mean step 1 "Change your Google payment profile" is that on PC, Android, settings where? Simple my ass

  • +1

Unable to join family as your not in the same country. Any help?

  • Is a cheaper plan not available for anyone living in Argentine?

    • Argentinia doesn't have Google one (have to pay US $ which is way expensive)

  • Anyone know what happens if a member in your Google One family also signs up for a storage plan?? Does the additional storage go into a pool?

    • You have to nominate a plan to be shared as the family plan.

    • Correct. You will need to enable it though it doesn't happen automatically

Go to https://one.google.com/settings > Manage family settings
Enable Share Google One with family

      • Perhaps I should state this differently.

Lets say there are 4 other people in my existing Family plan. Can one of those go and sign up for another storage plan and also share with the same family?

        • +2

This is exactly what I want to know. Because if it works, then I can add a new member to the family (that ISN'T the head of the family), then change the payment profiles to Turkey and take the deal

          • @Kiran90: I tried it. Doesnt work. If you are part of a family already that has an existing plan, you cannot sign up for plan.

  • I moved to One Drive last year because Google with the new client insisted that all data online in Drive was mirrored locally.

I want to only mirror certain online folders locally on my PC.

Has Google returned this functionality yet?

    • Nope. but they don't put it on your hard drive. They have file streaming so you see the file structure but only download the contents when you use it

      • Yes I know it doesn’t use much space but it’s very unorganised.

Just say you have that 200GB of data online. Just say you have all sorts of data there with hundreds of root folders. Some of it purely archival.

Why should it all appear on your PC?

Since the beginning, and still true on One Drive, you select which folders mirror locally. You can even select streaming on them. Much more organised and convenient.

For me, it’s a showstopper, it’s also contrary to its previous behaviour.

        Thanks for the update!

  • Just gives me Euros every time, so I'm about to give up

    • That means your VPN is not actually pointing to Turkey so try with different VPN provider and should work

      • Yep. I tried a couple. Checked my IP location online and it said Istanbul. Still Euros. Oh well.

        • Try using it on PC browser, and open in Cognito mode, login into google account in Cognito mode, this might help

  • So this will get rid of my current google play paid subscriptions? I don't want to lose them as I'm paying a cheaper rate and if i resub then the price will be a lot higher.

    • Correct

      • Damn. Thanks. I might just make another Gmail profile

  • Hopefully someone figures out a way without having to delete the Australian payment profile. I have a bit of rewards credit on there which I'm not willing to give up.

    • This is impossiblea as of now, google is doing heavy check on Google One geolock.

    • If I delete the Australian profile will my YouTube recommended and history go away?

    • +1

Easy. Just do it on another Google account. Then share those benefits through family sharing.

      • Thanks. This worked.

      • it also defaulted my main account to Turkey..

  • I have a google pixel 1 but this might be an even easier option, PITA to manually upload

  • I am not happy with Microsoft Onedirve and I am going to use for data back up.

Will Google Delete your account if they find out and will I lose all my data

    • Will they? Probably not.

Can they? Absolutely, this is against their terms and conditions.
