  • Any deals on the io8 or io9 and has anyone got feedback about them, i heard on the grapevine that they are lifechanging?

What's the main difference between the models?

    • +3

      the price

      • +2

I doubt that is the main difference, as then they wouldn't be able to sell the more expensive ones.

which one of these have Lithium Ion battery?

1500 does. Click through and you can see it on the boxes.

They also have their base model on sale, too, for $25: https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/332537/ora…

Mine lasted 3 years before the battery gave up, it cleans teeth great. If you still use a manual, definitely give it a try, you get a much better clean.

I have tried the more expensive ones, they're a waste of money.

Having tried a few, this comment is not true. The cheap one loses power gradually due to the battery, also the motor is not as strong, and it's vibrations are not the same.

If you say so. Quite happy with mine.

      • I don't think you were strictly correct when using the statement that the comment is not true, as JRogers has presented their post as their opinions only. You've stated why you think that might not be correct but that is only in the context of how you would evaluate what "value is"

"it cleans teeth great" was the opinion, along with "I have tried the more expensive ones, they're a waste of money."

Having a battery that lasts longer, and a device that's power doesn't degrade over time, is not an opinion, it's fact. If you value having a consistent tooth brush then it is worth the extra. That being said, my pro 500 lasted nearly 9 years and cost me $70 back in the day. It's power is exactly the same, but the battery doesn't last anymore. The cheapest models power will degrade over a few years, meaning the oscillation power/speed will be less over time. So by 2-3 years, it will be very weak compared to when you got it. So if you want to "clean teeth great", you would want to replace the cheapo one every 2 years or so. Which would be much more expensive than just paying extra to get a better toothbrush. That's what I evaluate what "value is".

We have a 10 year old Pro 500 (same as the 700 and 800 BTW). These are the value point of the Oral B range IMHO. Stronger action than the base models, and the charging indicator is very useful.

As these are NiMH, I only charge once the red light comes on (and occasionally run fully flat), which seems to minimise "memory effect".

Get a 1500. They are virtually same as pro2000 and if you online research, you’ll get an answer on the sweet price point.

    vs 700/800
I would choose 1500 for LiON battery and faster oscillation (it’s small in numbers but you can feel the faster osciallations and pulsations)

    vs lower models like vitality
I partly agree with above comment as these are really cheap and good “value” but once you taste the motor of pro series, you will never go back to vitality or other brands.

Just my 2 cents, may not be “true” to someone else ;)

Don’t forget that Chemist Warehouse will price beat these.
