    3060 6GB GDDR6 [60W]

    lol…

    • +1

That’s a lot of “6” in one row.

But yea it shouldn’t be too bad for data science tasks.

  • +1

    That's some good specs right?

    • +2

If you are into good gaming, this can't complete with 3060 in Alienware which is running at 115w(+10w dynamic boost) as RTX3060 in this one is running at 65W.
For any other purpose or normal gaming, I don't think you can get better specs at this price

      • +1

What does running at a higher wattage mean? More processing power?

        • Basically it can run at higher clockspeeds

        • At higher power, the chips can run at higher sustained frequencies which increases the frame rates.

However, it also significantly increases heat and reduces battery life.

60W 3060 would still be great for the majority of new games. This is a great spec for under 2k.

        • Just think of the 115w 3060 as a better GPU. It's like comparing a 3070 with a 3060.

  • +11

This or the Lenovo Duet Chromebook?

    • +2

Definitely Chromebook. The 0.6fps will be great for gaming.

    • Careful, many OzBargainers are emotionally and financially invested in the Duet

      • +2

Not me, biggest POS system I've ever bought. The Atari Portfolio sitting in my cupboard is better.

      • +2

@WrightRightWriteRite I've got one too and it's a great device for the price I got it for :)

    • Different price range and function.

I was waiting for Asus VivoBook 13 Slate OLED (which is comparable to Chomebook duet 5):
      https://www.asus.com/au/Laptops/For-Home/Vivobook/Vivobook-1…

But somehow, Asus never released it in Australia T_T

So end up buy the Duet 5 Chromebook 8gb ram version, and I loved it. You can not got the same windows laptop with the same price with same performance and screen, even the Asus VivoBook 13 Slate OLED end up a bit laggy and more expensive

      • I got the Duet 8GB RAM version too, and i would gladly pay more for one with Windows or regular Android. The Chrome OS is a huge let down, so many apps in the play store are not compatible, or are buggy and the device is just a pain to use. My bad though for not trying it first.

I just bought a Galaxy S7 plus tab and imho it runs circles around the Duet.

  • looks good for content creation, but the 60w GPU is a limiting factor for gaming.
At least keeps thermals less of an issue

  • Anyone know what the sustained CPU wattage is on this laptop?
I'm thinking of buying to use with a eGPU

    • Not exactly what you have asked, but this might help:
      https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/132228/…

      • Yeah, I'm more wondering if this laptop can sustain the 115w on the 12700h. I was also looking at the X14 and reviews test that can sustain it almost indefinitely.

        • X14 would be better for that sustained load.

The Inspiron cooling systems aren't nearly as effective as the Alienware.

        • I doubt it. The previous gen model (which appears to be the same chassis design) had a PL1 of 45w.

    • Just 1 thing to keep in mind.
There is only 1 TB4 port in this laptop

I just wanted to comment to say how much I hate Dell laptops. Monitors? No dramas, Laptops? absolute dogs breakfast.

I use them for work and we get some decked out Precision ones, I'm on my 3rd replacement within one year. 1, a bad able, 2? Bad luck, 3? they have QA issues, badly. Not only that, my god their docks, which cost a lot, is completely useless. I just don't understand how a company like them. The ones I use for work are close to $5k each. Wtih this many quality issues, I don't know people can go on about Macbooks not worth their money.

    • +1

Man I feel you, it really sucks when you’re the one going through all these BS when you just want to get some stuff done.

I’m wary of recommending Dell to others even though I have cycled through some okay units.

I think I might be moving on to Lenovo, hopefully their higher end workstation laptops are okay.

      • That's basically the issue. I know they have those premier next day service we will come to you and fix it thing, sure it's a good service I suppose? But I would rather not resort into using it at all… Did I also mention how crap their trackpads are? It's an absolute joke, when our work went out and got about 300 of these laptops, our dev team of about 50, ALL had wobbly track pads.

        • +1

After a while, I begin to see the merits of the apple MacBooks.

While they are definitely not for every job out there, they certainly are great contenders for the tasks which are well suited for them.

I mostly dock into dual monitors these days, but o.m.g. The track pads were atrocious on some units I have used in the past 🤦‍♂️

          • @Clain: Just can't go wrong with the MacBooks. Best support in the industry, and now with the M1/M2 chips and MicroLED displays, added ports and excellent speakers, it's hard to go wrong.

The last couple of Dells I've used for work have been solid, particularly the Precision 7000 series, which was built like a tank (it was a 10th gen Intel chip).

However, I've just gone with the new Lenovo Yoga 9i for work (Construction/Windows apps required), which is on the way now. Hopefully it stands up for a few years.

    • +1

I've had an old gaming Dell laptop for since 2017, what are some of the issues you're experiencing?

    • Yep. I work in education. We had to kick up a big stink to get an entire fleet replaced due to a systemic hinge issue. We were having 2-3 students a day with broken hinges.

    • Recently bought their laptop that was replaced twice and returned for a refund the third time. Really amazing QC.

  • +1

    This if MacBook Air M2?

    • +6

      Windows or Mac OS ?

    • What are you planning on using the laptop for?
What apps do you use? anything platform specific?

  • 60w hmmmm

  • thanks for deal op -anyone able to get their coupons from the other deal?

reallylooking to only play games like valorant, maybe warzone - hopefully should run on a 60w

  • Hi OP
Never buy from Dell before, CR and SB currently offering 12% cashback, I would like to check with you and any other Ozbargainers if I use the 7% discount on G 15 gaming laptop, would that void my cash back cos cash back would save more as of today at least.

    Many thanks for your advice!!

    • Most prob. it will void the cashback. as you are using a coupon not listed on their website

  • The code VIVID5 works without the coupons mentioned above. Not sure if it stacks with the others though. YMMV.

    • +1

It doesn't. If you use VIVID5, it will actually increase the cost as it will remove other 7% off coupon

  • Are you able to charge this through the USBC port ?

    • The included charger is the pin one, but yes there is 1 thunderbolt which support charging

Thunderbolt™ 4 (USB Type-C™) with Power Delivery and DisplayPort

    • +2

You can charge and power this through the USB-C port. 130W is a Dell proprietary. If using a different charger(including Apple's 140W), the draw will be limited possibly to 90W according to this thread.

  • Wow looks nice. Tanks for sharing.
Only concern is the display being 300 nits, might not bright enough?

    • +2

300nits is good for indoor use. You want 350+ for outdoors…

    • Personally I think 300 nits is enough on an IPS. 250 nits on some cheap screens, is awful

  • Wonder if the 3060 outputs to the hdmi or just the usb port

60hz screen also not good for gaming on

    • It has an HDI port + Thunderbolt supports extra DP as well.

      • More wondering if it's the i gpu or the 3060 which outputs to the hdmi port

    • How many games are going to be over 60hz with a 60w 3060?

  • great deal, how come it is expiring at midnight? won't it continue on after that?

    • The coupons are only valid for today

    • +1

      End of financial year

  • +2

bruh no body mentioned 10% cashback from amex?

    • checked my amex and a bunch of friends, none of them had this - just the hp :(

  • Probs okay for esports at 1080p.

  • +1

    Hi OP,

    Thanks for sharing.

I can confirm this works, I got this deal 2 days ago after digging around the Ozb posts and following the same steps you mentioned.

Great deal IMO for office use / heavy multitasking / content creation / video editing…but not so much for gamers

haven't found reviews for the 12th gen 2022 model yet, but here is a good review of last year's 11th gen 2021 model: https://youtu.be/bL817Zey6FM

Do you need to do anything to claim the voucher from Dell ?

  • Assuming vouchers x2 stacks with SB 12٪ cash back and 10% off with amex cash back offer, then I est cost about $1392.3?

    • I highly doubt SB will work but Amex should

      • How to get the amex offer? I don't see it in my amex account offers. T___T

  • Can confirm amex offer worked. Crossing fingers for SB.

    • Can you please share link to the amex offer? Thanks 🙏

      • It's in the amex offers. Need to have saved it. Not sure if available to all amex cards. Also may have had limited numbers… ie subject to the first x,000 offers saved.

  • G15 5520 come with same cpu and 130w 3060 on sale for 1819, stack with 12% cashback, 10% amex cashback. For just $1418

    • that's IF 12% cashback works……

    • But you need to put on a headphones all the time…..

    • +1

      Not everyone has Amex :(
G15 deal also only has 16gb ram and 512gb ssd but good deal if you have Amex.

      • I have amex and also got the shopback challenge. Futher $150 cashback made it under $1300.

  • +1

Ended up buying one buy I'm a bit of a niche use case as a photographer
Will put the rtx to use for Ai photo tasks like Ai upscaling) and the 3k screen will be nice
If I feel like gaming will use my thunderbolt egpu and something with more grunt

Thanks for the deal OP 👍

    • Nice. Screen is 100% sRGB 👍

      • Yep always a consideration, the extra real estate is nice for lightroom toolbars etc
12th gen with lots of cores + 32gb of ddr5 should make it speedy

  • if this deal was valid few days back with the…..
    1. extra $150 Shopback
    +
    2. 12% cashback
    +
    3. 10% Amex deal

    • +1

The coupon maybe cause no 12% cashback and extra $150 cashback

  • +1

Pretty good deal. However, the RTX 3060 6GB (60W) will be limiting for gaming, especially at the native resolution. I owned a laptop with an RTX 3060 6GB (95W) and it was pretty underwhelming, especially for VR gaming via Oculus Link (presumably due to the lack of VRAM, which required reducing the headset resolution to achieve playable frame rates).

    • Yeah, the high res 60hz panel and studio rather than gaming drivers show who it's for… and it's not gamers

  • I ended up going with this for $1205 with 10% Amex offer

    • What cpu?
May be leaving performance on the table without cpu scheduling

    • +2

How $1370? Did you take the different spec. One?

      • +1

Nah maxed out options except for pro os.
        2022 Dell Inspiron Plus 7620
        I7-12700H
        RTX 3060
        32GB DDR5
        1TB (only pcie gen3)
        3K display

Found some codes to stack of the net.
