it was $17.5 few weeks ago in Coles.

i would wait if you are not needed now

    • +2

      Unobtainable

      • Correct - Coles is still waiting on stock of the 3L as of yesterday.

      • +1

Should have got a rain check for that deal cause stock was hard to find

        • Rain check is valid for 30 days. My local hasn't got and stock yet :(

          • @SummerZero: If you have the patience, you can renew the raincheck if they are still out of stock at the time of your next visit.

            • @DoctorCalculon: How, I never heard of this?
Is there somewhere that states it as pretty sure most staff wouldn't renew

        • That's exactly what I did and bought one before yesterday for $17.50. Rain check is where it's at.

          • @AussieDaddy: Thanks for the info. Went to check at my coles. The lady said you can not extend the validity of a raincheck. What a bummer

            • @Dio: If you had the raincheck voucher then you have 30 days to use it. But if you didn't get one when the special was on then you can't get one now. Unless you meant to use one past the 30 days, then that won't work.

              • +2

@AussieDaddy: Sorry, I think you misunderstood. I had a rain check coupon issued by coles on 02.06.2022. I have checked several times, online and in-store, but nothing was in stock. Last I checked was on 30.06.2022 and asked the lady to extend it. She said that's it you can not extend it, although they do not have any in stock.

                • @Dio: Oh, I see. Sorry, you're right. That won't work. I got lucky as there wasn't stock in my local stores as well and bought one from the other end of town when I was there for work.

      • I got a box (3) at that price and distributed to my mates. Was a great deal

      • I got two from my local Coles. Plus a raincheck for 2 more when they were unavailable the next day.

    • Really? When

  • oh no, i just bought 1L for $9

    • I went to buy that yesterday, but it's like whenever this oil goes on half price my local coles puts out a couple of bottles and that's it for the week.

      • +1

I reckon Woolworths had a display of 100 last time they did this

Always found Coles a bit scummy with offers. Wow had always been much more generous

  • Bought 6 at Costco $17.50 price matching Coles a few weeks ago

    • +1

wish I did this instead of hoping for Coles to get their sh*t together - useless raincheck if they still don't get stock

    • Didnt know costco price matches. I'll do it next time

      • +1

Costco had it for the same price. It wasnt a price match

        • Was the deal posted?

  • How does this compare to Cobram?

    • How does this compare to Moro?

      • +1

How does that compare to Red Island?

  • Wondering if we can use this one for daily cooking?

    • +1

I only use olive oil (have been using this for years now) for everything. I avoid other cooking oils as much as I can.

      • I am the same. But I only use normal olive oil for cooking, not sure about the Extra Virgin one. I thought extra is only use for salad dressing?

        • +1

Yeah, there's also a high smoke version of it, but I heard from many sources (and watched videos of famous chefs like Gordon Ramsay) that it's fine to cook with Extra Virgin olive oil. So I buy it whenever it's on sale, usually half price, and use it for everything. But highest temperature in my stove is 180C so I am not sure if it's OK to cook with on very high heat.

  • Cheers.
One of,the only two olive oils I trust in australia tbh

    • If you mean Cobram, it is the same company. And who else is there?

      • -1

        Is moron any good?

        • Not Australian, moron. … Damn auto-correct.

        • -1

Why would you consider that appropriate here¿

Unless it’s a typo and you meant Moro brand.

      • TIL: that they were the same company. Cheers.

        You can learn something everyday.

Then I’m that case there’s only one brand I’d trust in australia.

But I find the Red Island is cheaper especially when on sale.
As I buy the large tins and decanter into 1/6 dozen litre bottles.

    • +1

Red island also make The Woolworths branded $5.50 bottle also

  • Thanks OP. I have a Woolies offer of points for a minimum spend and this will work out nicely.

BTW, Choice rates the Aldi house brand olive oil as decent. Any one tried this?

The Coles, wow, Aldi home brand oils are all made by Cobram.

      • @RexHavoc how do you know this? Insider info?

  • I used to buy any old olive oil brand, until I heard about the ‘Oil regulation & Adulteration’ regarding olive oils. Wow.. what an eye opener tbh.

Now I only buy Red Island, or Cobram (which apparently is the same company)

I don’t usually use Wikipedia as a reference to things, but this one appeared legit and well Research, but feel free to look it up elsewhere:
