The Nikkor Z 40mm f/2 is an ultra-compact prime, ideal for a travel/street lens for those on the Nikon Z mount system. Not a top of the range S-Line piece of glass, but it's a fraction of the cost and sits nicely between the 35mm and 50mm if you don't want to fork out more for one of those.

According to Camel Camel Camel, $248 is the best price on Amazon for this lens so far. Sold by Amazon AU as well, so it will be covered by local Nikon warranty, however, note there is a bit of a wait for delivery as they must be waiting for more stock.

Harvey Norman also have the lens for the same price if you can find stock (none in WA), or want to pay the $7.95 delivery fee.

  Wish Nikon make a silver DX 20-23mm version of this then will be perfect!! It will make Z Fc a nice and classy street shioting option.

  Bought the 28mm for the same price last week because I was caught without a wide lens a shoot. Small and lightweight to pack - just in case!

  I'm very surprised by how sharp this little 28mm is edge to edge, wide open on a Z6. With built-in lens corrections a brick wall test shows it's not far off my Z 24-70mm f/2.8 and Z 24-70mm f/4 all shot wide open. You need to pixel peep to see any sharpness difference but it does have a lot more vignetting.

  Build quality is not on par with the S series lenses and it looks like the exterior barrel scuffs easily.

  For $248 it's a (oz) bargain.

    I saw HN still had the 28mm for $248 but opted for the 40mm as it's a focal length I think I'd use a bit more in tandem with my 85mm 1.8
