  • How's vn Airlines compared to jetstar? In terms of seating? I didn't find jetstars newer planes too bad…

    • +1

VNA has 2-3 settings in the economy cabin. I feel that the space in the last one (at the tail side of the aeroplane) is the same as in Jetstar's.
On long-haul flights, VNA also provides entertainment/movies.

    • Larger legroom (>10cm I think), more comfortable on long-haul flights. Also come with 2 meals and entertainment as Averell mentioned.

Vietnam Nonstop on Vietnam Airlines from $617 Return

How much are these flights normally?

    • Around $1000. Although sometimes Jetstar has 300 400 sale, but its hard to compare budget airline vs full cost

sometimes Jetstar has 300 400 sale

That's what it should be compared to then, to determine if this is a bargain.

I find the comparison quite straight forward. Just ask yourself what are you getting for the extra $$$ of a 'full service' carrier.
Generally it comes down to the following:
        -Bags
        -Meals
        -Entertainment
        -Service

For me service is hit and miss on any airline. I had a Thai crew on my last Jetstar flight that were as good as any Singapore Airline or Emirates crew for example
Entertainment means nothing to me since I bring my own.
Meals cost about $20, not worth paying full service ticket prices for.
And I always travel with carry-on only so bags are not a problem. In the rare case I need luggage I'm happy to pay the extra $30 or whatever.

So for me, LCC work out a way better deal than 'Full service' since all that means is paying more for nothing.

Generally seats are smaller in LCC. If you don't mind cramp for 8 or so hours then I suppose it's ok LOL

            @mt2000:

            Not true: https://www.airlinequality.com/info/seat-pitch-guide/

AirAsiaX for example has more pitch than Qantas at half the price. With Scoot you can upgrade to a 34" seat for usually about $50 so it's cheaper AND more space

            LOL…

Very good price for Vietnam Airlines - I've always priced VN's flights to Vietnam for over $1000.

I managed to get good tickets for my wife and I with Singapore Airlines in mid-January '23 (in time for Tet) for $880 return to Da Nang from Brisbane, which is an excellent price.
