On sale for a low price is this 15.6" portable monitor with USB-C and Mini HDMI. These are a great option if you're travelling with a laptop or Switch and want to have a second display. I personally use one with my laptop when I'm working outside of my office at temporary desks and more recently in airports.

For display input there's a USB-C port and a Mini HDMI port with both a USB-C and Mini HDMI to HDMI cable included. It has 15.6" 1920x1080 IPS display with a 60Hz refresh rate, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 220cd/m² brightness, HDR mode, dual speakers and has a 3.5mm audio jack. It can be powered via the second USB-C port with Power Delivery or via the Micro USB port.

A downside with these low powered portable monitors is that they're not always as bright as normal monitors. The more expensive portable ASUS MB16ACV ZenScreen only has 250cd/m² brightness and 800:1 contrast ratio, while this Zeuslap portable monitor has 220cd/m² brightness and 1000:1 contrast ratio.

These pair well with all those mini emulation devices that are all the rage now.

During lockdown I paired this with my Switch and a HUGE power bank.

45% NTSC coverage is very poor colour reproduction

I was looking at these recently, to use as a second screen for my work laptop when at home (and not sitting at my desk).

For those that don't know, even with a locked down work laptop like mine, you can use a second windows 10 or later laptop as a second/slave display wirelessly.

Obv not great for the use cases mentioned in the OP, but might be useful for some.

    • I’ve been trying to find the app’s name, could u tell me what’s the best app for this? Thank you in advance :)

      • +7

Not an app..just using Windows functionality.

If you've got multiple laptops/computers and you want to use them all as extended desktops, look into Mouse Without Borders. Essentially connects them all (I think up to 4?) together and they act like extended monitors, only they are using their own cpus/gpus to process w/e is on the screen. The copy+paste file transfer I believe is capped to 100mb but I don't do much of that, mainly just text, which works fine. If you want the audio to work across the devices, look into SoundIt. With Mouse Without Borders and Soundit you can have a video playing on one device with it's audio coming out the speakers connected to another.

You can also use Barrier, which is an open source fork of Synergy.

            • @samlor: Cool, but not as cross-platform or open source :)

  • how do they compare to Asus MB16ace?

Recently bought a Bose N700 wireless headphones on AliExpress. Received a pathetic counterfeit copy of headphones.
Lodged a complaint, seller doesn't agree. Uploaded three photos of this junk taken with iphone 12 mini camera, Aliexpress doesn't agree and asks for clearer photos.
Here i'm stuck with this junk.
Wish you guys get something better from AliExpress.

Not sure why you'd risk something like that with AliExpress or from China even. Basically asking for a fake. Just do a PayPal dispute.

What was the seller rating even?

Couldn't the same be said for the product in this deal?

        • +5

Not at all. ZEUSLAP is a Chinese company operating a Chinese store on a Chinese platform and they don't have an issue with fakes. Trying to buy something from a big brand without an official store from China that's notorious for being faked is pretty stupid.

There's a reason I asked for seller feedback rating. It's hard to get a low rating and I guarantee it was low.

Raise a dispute on PayPal or your credit card issuer.

Bose don't have any presence on Aliexpress, so buying from there would be a little silly.

  • Can anyone recommend a good value screen like these that come with a built in battery?

  • Just be careful about these cheap monitors. Even though they're IPS most of the cheap ones have bad gamma shift and super annoying to use

  • That is good price for below $200, Bought similar one last year with lagging touch screen for $330 . Been practical and handy 2nd monitor to setup and use on the go .

Reckon this would be OK as a monitor for a dahua security system? Looking for something cheap and unobtrusive.

  • No coupons available when I try it, only the Promo code 6JUNE9 works. So comes out at $193AUD now
