  • Is TSN just normal Telstra stores in shopping centres?

    • That's what I'm wondering too :)

    • just the normal Telstra stores.

  • Wonder why they're discontinuing them?! Admittedly, it's annoying you can only fit them in gel cases, and even then it still bulges a little. :(

Phone superseded by S3, so accessories also are.

      • how the hell has it been superseded by the S3? It isn't even out here yet, and there is no set release date for it.

    • Can these be charged from car charger?
The "top comment" in this videos advises NOT to charge it in cars???!

  • wow so cheap I brought mine from a telstra shop just 2 weeks ago for $39

    • same, but mine was last week……bugga….BUT in saying that is has been excellent so far and made a big difference in a charge lasting more than a day

    • +8

      You brought it?

  • oh my. Just what I need.

  • can i use them for galaxy nexus?

    • +1

theres one for the nexus, but this one won't work with yours.

  • wasn't really looking for an extended battery. but since its this cheap. might aswell give it a go

  • Don't need one really, but might grab one at that price!
(pleaase do the same on the car kit!!!)

    • I have just sold one and have the car kit spare. You in sydney by any chance?

      • Hey Jase,

        I;ve sent you a message :)

  • any link to list of participating telstra shop? thanks.

    • Which state did you have in mind?

      • nvm. new comment below. thanks.

  • So cheap !

  • double post sorry

  • These are awesome, guys! They even make the phone feel better in the hand and less slippery. Trust me, they were worth it for the $55 I paid; this is definitely worth it!

    • makes me feel better for the $50 i paid, lol.

      • It surprises me yours cost so much, mine was $30 when I got it from an Optus store like 6 months ago. Admittedly it was with the phone purchase, maybe they discounted it cause of that. I didn't ask them to, though.

  • +1

Excellent upgrade for the S2. Makes the phone feel a lot better in hand. Not all external cases will fit but a lot will.

Just get two Ankers 1800mAh + charger from eBay for $20 delivered…

    • Any links? I think they are going for around $26 delivered on eBay

  • Anyway to buy online from Telstra?

    • +4

My Anker 1800mAh is a POS; lasts much less than the factory 1650mAh; but others have been getting fairly good results from them.

      • My 2 anker batteries are pretty good. Lasts just as long

        • Just as long as the normal 1800mah Samsung? Friend has one good Anker battery, and one crap Anker battery. Prob luck of the draw =p.

Here's an actual ex telstra rep.

TSN= telstra shop network, meaning owned by telstra. Can be in shopping centres, an example would be chats wood Westfield nsw or city stores.
TLS= Telstra licensed stores, franchised stores where the owners set their own prices, an example would be rockdale nsw

    • Thanks for clearing that up :)

      • +2

Now to clear up which ones are TSN and TLS :p I can't remember how you can tell, all I remember is that if the store is dummy phones, not live phones, it's definitely TLS. If you hAve any specific stores you wanna know, I'll try help decipher

        • +1

          Frankston / Karingal? Tia :)

Edit: just realised the store locator tells you which is which, nm… www.store-locator.telstra.com.au/?red=/shoplocator/

        • not the case. no possible way of knowing just by a visual inspection of the store.

ie, broadway in sydney is a TLS store with live demos.

  • The links sends me to the home page. Can't find the product.

    Oh it's instore only?

  • Standard battery is 1650mAh
    This one is 2000mAh.

About 21% more — is it worth the hassle?

    • +1

to sum it up, yes it is.

i was a bit skeptical myself at first, wondering whether a 350mah increase will be that drastic, but trust me, it is.

not only is the battery life a good improvement, but the phone feels great now, the backplate feels like it belongs and the extra weights gives it a better feel.

atm ive got one with the normal battery and one with the extended battery in my hand.
      the normal battery is on 31% @ 1day 8h 14m.
the extended battery is on 48% @ 1day 11h 51m - with everything on (wifi, gps) + twice as much "awake" time and "screen on" time.

  • Will the extended backing fit with the official SGS II mesh case?

  • Does the battery housing case come in white?

    • yes but they are very rare and often sold out first

      • Yeah, I'm going to scour the Brisbane CBD stores for one today :)

        • if they are all gone, blame it one me ;)

        • I can confirm that bob_wangkar is the one to blame if you missed out! :P
No more in any of the Brisbane CBD stores.

        • bob wangker the new broden? hahaha

Cheap! I just paid 35 for mine on Ebay.

  • Where can I find this solf for $25? Any Telstra retail shops? or just certain ones?

  • +1

I can confirm that I bought a 2000mah genuine Samsung battery extender for $25 at the Telstra shop, Level 5, Parramatta Westfield.

The sticker price was still $39 and the staff did not know it was discontinued until they scanned the item.

I was also told the cover only comes in black.

Hope this helps, they have more stock left out the back (confirmed half an hour ago).

    • Confirmed also, just bought one from the store, ground floor Burwood Westfield, nsw.

  • Champion! Was going to buy this off eBay today, thanks!

  • Anyone know a cheap and good case to fit the fatter sgs 2?

  • Thanks OP. I have moulded flip case but reckon I can cut out some of the moulding to suit

  • Damn this would mean I need a new phone cover as well I assume?

There's not too many ebay sellers who sell their protective covers for the bigger housing do they?

    • Replying to my comment, just bought one, and no, you don';t need an extra protective cover!! Same size as previous one, just a bit more heavier.

      Great deal.

  • +2

Just bought one from T store in the Sydney City Westfiled. They have two more units left. The two stores on George Street don't have anymore stock.

Hope this helps anyone wanting to buy in Sydney CBD

  • Awesome!

  • Does anyone know where I can get one in Melbourne CBD? I've rung like 2 shops and they are out of stock. :(

    • I got the last one from Elizabeth St, went to Swanston and they are sold out, said there was 1 left at Melb Central.

      • I took the last one at Exhibition in the morning. Felt sorry for the guy who came in looking for one while I was in the queue to pay.

      • Sigh. :(
Went to exhibition too… and they didn't have any… they finally called back when I was out - which wasn't helpful. What a waste of time. :(

  • Just purchased the last one from Telstra Shop at Macquarie Centre (Ryde NSW). Thanks for the tip.

  • +1

Any tips on external charger that can charge this?

  • Awesome just picked the last one up from the Telstra store near Wynyard station. Price was $25 as indicated.

  • Picked one up from local Telstra shop. Although they were not aware of discounted price, upon finding them on display, they were clearly marked as $25.

  • George St and Queen St mall stores in Brisbane do not stock batteries.

Ran out of time to try the Queen's Plaza store and the Myer centre store is a franchise store.

    • Strange that Queen St have none. When I called Telstra (not the store) this morning they told me that they have 3. Capalaba was supposed to have 1 if your from that way.

  • George St and west field in Sydney CBd is out

    • yeah apparently 9-10 had already asked, classic OzBargain..

  • None in Canberra centre

  • .

  • I think I got the last one in Parramatta westfield :P

  • None available in Cockburn Central WA :(

    • Picked up one at Murray St mall WA and there is still one left. Priced $39 but scanned $25. Thanks OP.

      • Cheers for leaving one for me. I tried the the Hay st mall store first but they were sold out so I quickly walked to Murray st and got the LAST ONE IN TOWN ^_^

        • :P wish I had of read all the comments last night, wandered around town trying to find the telstra stores (I'm from interstate), to find they had no stock :P

  • one left at telstra shop at highpoint shopping centre maribyrnong vic

Been looking around for this. Thanks for sharing. Telstra @ Parramatta didnt have stock, so went to JB HiFi, and spoke to one of the guys there to match Telstra's 25$. He checked on the computer and confirmed he wasn't able to do it at $25, but can do at $27. So picked it up. Incidentally, on my way back out, I found a $2 coin on the floor!

    • +1

Can you post a pic of the receipt please. I was in my local JB and the guy didn't seem too interested to price match.

      • +7

And a pic of the coin too pls.

    • whoa, cool story bro

    • hahahahaha god was on your side today and he knew you were an ozbargainer lolsss

      awesome story

  • +2

    There it is…
    http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/339/jbhsbp.jpg/

Surprising thing is that there was no questions asked during price match…imagine if they'd put the best price there in the first place, gadget life would be beautiful.

@SSJX - Yeah! that's the universe working in your favour to get the best deal! :-)

  • I had to go to three different shops on my bicycle to get mine, all three stores did not know they were being discontinued. Newtown and Broadway (NSW) had no stock, said they could order it in for $39, hahah :P
Went to the store in Sydney World square and saw they had one left for $39 :(
Told him I heard it was being discontinued and he scanned it for me, showing $25 :D

TL:DR Got the last one from Sydney World square (Corner George st and Liverpool st) and non at Newtown and Broadway (NSW)

  • all Melbourne CBD stocks are gone. I instead went to Northland to get the last three on display. Funny how the staff didnt know anything about the clearance price and was a little bit confused when I walked in and asked them to scan the barcode to check the price.

They didnt have white though but my wife is okay using the black cover just for the extended battery performance.

  • One left at Erina store. Don't know about stock out the back though.

  • got one for the missus from George St Sydney CBD in the morning. good deal.

    • +2

      fair swap, yeah.

  • Out of stock in the Bondi store, got the last one

  • Sold out this morning at the Perth CBD store on Hay St.

    • There were none on the shelf there midday yesterday

  • Just purchased one from JB-Hifi for $27. He was questioning whether to price match the $25 or not. Just to guarantee I would get it I said I would pay $27 as I heard other JB's were willing to accept this price.

Thanks to the original post who stated he purchased it for $27 at JB.

    • I used the receipt posted above to get my JB to price match. The guy eventually did it, begrudgingly.
