I have this, been pretty happy with it, no issues at all and does a good job

I have this in my triton 2019 and it’s pretty good for a small sub. I have had large car sound systems before and this is not that. Would I recommend it if you after some extra bass in a limited space then yes definitely buy it. I love it.

    • Hey mate any recommendations for a speaker upgrade for the triton - stock headunit.

      Cheers

  • Great small sub and very easy to install and wiring to the head unit. I've got it in my classic car.

  • I have this in my Landcruiser and it works great.

  • Agree with the comments - I have the Kenwood version (ksc-sw11), basically the same specs and build, and works great - provides nice bass inside the car without showing off to those on the street!

  • Whats the norm with these, just 1, or do you get 2, one under each front seat?

    • Bass isn't usually connected in stereo. Won't really matter, especially in such a confined space.

  • Maybe a stupid question, can this be connected to a Sony xav-5000 without too much trouble

    • Connect power, earth the sub and plug RCA audio cables to the head unit.

      • Thanks. Thought there's maybe some extra drama because of different brands

      • Dint forget the signal wire

        • that's the RCA audio cables?

          • +1

@jdawgydawggy: No you need to connect one extra cable being the remote control wire (blue) coloured. To let the subwoofer know when to turn on. Otherwise the subwoofer stays on permanently as its connected to the battery and receives constant power.

            • -1

@Turbonetics: There is no on/off switch of the sub. You will need to wire it to either cigarette lighter or head unit power cable. This will ensure the sub is powered once your ignition is on. The wired remote control is for extra sound and decibel setting.

              • @buynowregretlater: Yeah thats the same wire Im talking about. With the pioneer sub, its a blue wire and the instruction book call it a system remote control wire. In total you have:

                -Power
                -Earth
                -Remote control
                -RCA

Just pointing it out as you didnt mention it in the original comment.

You are right in the point where the subwoofer wont turn on unless that wire is connected. I need to correct above comment.

            • @Turbonetics: Does it have to be connected to the battery itself or can you wire it from the fuse box?

Secondly, instead of having the remote control wire from the head unit, can you not just connect it to switched power so it goes on/off with ignition (regardless of headunit being on or not)?

              • @placard: I would think that the Power cable needs to be connected to the battery as it draws alot of power to run the built in amp and subwoofer so needs its own direct cable with the right gauge. I am no expert though so someone else might be able chime in.

The manual says it should be connected direct to the head unit, maybe so that the subwoofer can turn on only when the head unit is on? Again not 100% sure if you can use other accessory wires or if it's recommended. You are connecting the RCA from the sub to the head unit anyway so it's not inconvenient to do the remote wire at the same time

              • +1

@placard: Just installed one of these so thought I'd clear up any confusion. The blue wire (remote trigger) should be connected to the head unit to provide a high signal to switch on the amp when the head unit is turned on. A set of RCA cables also needs to be connected between the head unit and the amp.

Yellow wire (12v constant) I connected to the fuse panel under the dash using a mini blade fuse wire tap (https://www.jaycar.com.au/double-mini-blade-fuse-socket-wire…). The yellow wire already had a 10A fuse inline so I used the cigarette lighter fuse socket (also 10A) as I otherwise don't use the cig lighter in the car.

Black wire (ground) I connected to a bolt on the floor under the driver's seat which was also being used to earth my seatbelt sensor.

Extremely simple install from a wiring perspective, no need to cut anything or go through firewall grommets etc. Hope this helps.

  • Got one of these and it packs a nice punch for the size. Don't expect obnoxious window shaking bass, but rounds out your speaker set up very nicely

  • Awesome, thanks. Been looking at getting something like this to round off the new speakers in the ute.

  • $190 Bux seems good for abit of bass but don't expect it to rumble.

  • 'When paired with additional Pioneer speakers in the form of tweeters and mid bass drivers, the results are hard to argue with.'

    I good sir will disagree!

    Dunno, seemed easy enough… 🤷

Just a warning, ive had to cancel the last 2 orders from sparesbox because they failed to ship it at all. Waited for weeks with no update for common items that are supposedly 'in stock'

Live chat support has also disappeared. I'm getting a vibe that they might be going under?

    • I'm thinking I might have to do the same thing. Is there easy way to cancel and do you get your money back or do you have to do chargeback on CC?

      • I cancelled my last order via live chat and they were able to do it instantly but live chat has now disappeared.

There's no phone support and they arent replying to their own support tickets or social media messages. Might be time for a paypal dispute or CC chargeback

    • Maybe it's hit and miss? My order has been posted, and got the tracking number.

delivered on Wednesday, quicker than first indicated

  • Just installed it, initial impressions are that it is overpriced garbage. I already had 6.5" JBL splits in the front (that cost me around $120) and cheap 6" pioneer 3 way in back wired directly to my head unit which basically already give the same amount of bass as this thing does. Ill get it installed under the seat tonight and see how it does but just wanted to post back here because I had higher hopes for it and it seems to be next to useless and an expensive addition to my car.

After installing it properly under the seat I can say that my initial impressions were completely off and it does add a nice amount of bass. I think having it sitting on the center console when testing was the biggest thing causing those first thoughts. Although I still think it is quite expensive for what it added its certainly not garbage like I first thought so just wanted to come back and recant my previous statement. As others mentioned no car shaking bass (never expected that) but it does help round out the sound nicely if you don't already have other subs.
