*when you purchase a selected TCL TV & TCL Soundbar in the same transaction.
we have 50" at 4k , at 100" should we expect 8k ?
no 8k content , but upsampling should make its' worth ?
At 100" you should be looking for 16k, otherwise you're losing half the fidelity you'd get with 4k @ 50"
That's not how it works.
8k is 4x the pixels of 4k. which is appropriate given 100" is 4x the surface area.
But most people aren't sitting close enough to fully resolve 4k anyway, so unless you're close enough, the 100 inch screen will not actually cause you to lose half of the perceived fidelity.
You're right, I did the same maths for only half the equation. Derp.
PPI at that size would be rubbish
No one ever complained about 50" 1080p TVs. In fact at this size people might actually see the full benefit of 4K finally.
No one ever
Big claim
I didn’t buy one ‘cause they looked crap.
It's all down to how far you're sitting… 198cm away and pixels shouldn't be noticeable (https://www.designcompaniesranked.com/resources/is-this-reti…)
My 1080p projector at 90" is plenty sharp at 3.5m, right at the retina mark.
You've got to remember that cinema projectors are rarely even 4K, and with THX standards for viewing distances and field of view angles, you wouldn't be sitting up close to a 98" TV.
If you're spending this much why wouldn't you spend more and get a really good brand I figure those with 6k to spend on a TV can spend a couple more k to get something better?
Any suggestions?
Samsung, LG, Sony.
Not “compensation” sized of course.
Gonna have to go smaller size if you want to go with the likes of sony, lg or samsung with only $6k budget.
Eg like this 83" lg oled. For just under $7k
IF you are sitting close … more then 6m is fine at 4k 100"…
Oh i get that. Was just telling wisc that to go with the really good brands like sony lg or samsung gotta have to go lower size with a $6k budget. Or drop more cash to get the 98" or so.
@xoom: yes… if you are going 100" TV you do not want to sit less then 3m unless you want a neck brace and have exceptional peripheral vision…
*then …… the word you are looking for is than.
i have 83" … that room im sitting at 3m away… its good… this 98" at 3m away i will start to see the downfall on tcl…at 6m wont matter for origin 2 when QLD get smashed :D
What a bizarre assumption
Wow
The box size for this thing must be crazy
My cats would love it…
Can get three 85 inch tv for less. Obviously quality won’t be as good as an oled
This one is QLed…not OLED…
I can get about 10 4k 32" monitors for less. 100 5" lcd panels for even lesser
Would this fit in the back of my car ?
Depends what car you drive lol.
I was just able to fit in 55 into my golf.
Maybe get a trailer and tight it upright.
$6k TV but don't want to spend $50 on delivery?!
An true ozbargainer would strap this on their back and hike it home if it saved them $50.
Think of home many softserve cones that is?
Would this even fit through the average front door?
If you carry it sideways. Yes. If you carry it front on. Then. No.
With 6k I can buy:
Tv 85inch LED
4k Projector
Projector Screen
Xbox Series X
PS5
And I would have money to buy some games.
But what if you want a 98" TV that can be used without having to control ambient lighting?
There is ALR projector screens. In this case you can buy the tv 85 inch, projector + ALR Screen. Possible you will end up with few bucks in your pocket.
Alr still washes out with sunlight, you still need to have light control in the room.
I've been looking at UST projectors with ALR screens for their massive screen sizes… Looks like the 98" full array lcd TCL is a better option vs a 100" UST however if you want 120" then UST and ALR screen is the way to go… Bigger than that a cinema long throw projector
Is this considered financial advice coz I’m interested!
Hahaha
