25% off All Ableton Software & Packs (e.g: Live 11 Standard - A$494, Was A$659)

510

I'm no musician, but I know this software is popular and it doesn't go on sale often, so 25% off store wide on the Ableton store is worth a mention on Ozbargain I reckon.

  • I just wish Mainstage used some of the features that Ableton does. I have tried using their Lite/Trial version and I found Logic Pro/Mainstage easier to use. Major plus for Ableton is that you are not confined to MacOS.

A great DAW but it's still too expensive for amateurs like me.

I might pull the trigger on this. I'm finding it hard to get a reliable cracked version of 11 and it sucks not getting any of the new updates. Seems like a decent deal to make music I'll never show anyone

Sign up to audionews torrents and you will find a good copy

    • ….you could use the lite version like some of us.

that's probably targeted at amateur home users

      I didn't think it was?

    • +2

What you have stated is exactly the reason they have to charge that amount. They are counting on people who use the software professionally to drive revenue. Besides, 'probably targeted at amateur home users' disregards how heavily used it is, particulary in EDM.

Ah yes, because the massive production companies are forced to charge exorbitant amounts of money, because the poor amateur end users are all pirating their software! Hold on, let me play them a symphony on this tiny violin..

    • +7

You're probably not aware, but actually many professionals use Ableton. It's one of the main DAWs that get used.

software that's probably targeted at amateur home users

Why comment when you have absolutely no idea wtf you're talking about?

    • that's probably targeted at amateur home users is a bit much

How does this work in your head? Is a $200k car targeted as amateur home drivers also 'a bit much' so therefore ok to steal? What about a $3000 TV? That seems like 'a bit much' too yeah?
Does theft suddenly become morally acceptable in your head once you decide that it costs too much for you to buy?

I think this is a really good deal for people who have been using earlier versions of Ableton, or have been pirating and want to go legit for ethical reasons and/or getting the latest updates etc. But for people who are interested in dabbling in music production, you are much better off using Garageband or trying Ableton Lite so that you can see whether it's something you'd like to get into further.

I already own Ableton, but am going to buy this pack, Slink Devices, with the discount:

For beginners, on a budget, also consider alternatives such as Reaper, BitWig, StudioOne especially when on sale.

      +1 for BitWig and Reaper.
I feel like Reaper is one of the best value products out there. I hear stories of engineers in studios pulling out ProTools when the client is there, then swapping to Reaper to do the actual work.
