Everyone in OzBargain is destined to get an Edifier speaker. I got mine some time ago… I could only resist for so long.

    • +2

As long as you completed the purchase by clicking your Mx Master 2S while rocking your QC35's you're all good.

Yeah i think that i got one before i came onto OzBargain - it was the S350DB which i paid $299 for on Amazon in Dec 2021.

Still blows my mind how much value this speaker has; DSP, internal DAC (coaxial/optical), DSP, bi-amping the titanium dome tweeter and mid, and a really nice 8 inch sub.

Go online to USA's edifier store and this speaker costs $300-400 USD.

    • Seems like it aye. Im about to pull the trigger on this. Started with the cute R12U

    • Yes, I have had the R1850DB's for a couple of years now and love them.

The product description on the website is "Edifier R1855DB Bookshelf Speakers with Powerful Subwoofer" which suggests it consists of the Edifier R1855DB Bookshelf Speakers and a Powerful Subwoofer, but it seems there is no Powerful Subwoofer included?

    • +1

I think there is no sub. Title is very misleading. I think they mean the woofer is powerful.

  • How are these for a TV? As a 'soundbar' in a small room

    • +3

They're just speakers man, no need to call them a soundbar haha.

They're good. Much better than any inbuilt and better than the majority of soundbars

    • +1

Depends if the soundbar has a sub or not - these eidifer's drivers give good bass, but they still have nothing on a solid 7-8 inch driver in a standalone subwoofer.

  • Can these be used as pc speakers?

    • Yeah. I have mine hooked to optical coming out of the PC. Works well

      • What if my motherboard does have an optical port?

        • +1

Comes with 3.5 mm -> RCA so you can use that.

    • Yes, they are excellent near field speakers. Probably the best value out there.

I also bought a Topping D10s DAC. Wil make an improvement depending on the PC sound card/Motherboard

  • This or R1280DB (https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B087CP66WB). It seems they are also on sale right now.

    • +1

cheaper again if you dont need sub-out and just get the 1280DB and not the 1280DBs

    • cancelling order …

    • Well bollocks, I'm having that same power crackling issue….

  • Wanted something with an Optical in for the bedroom TV - this works. Cheers !

  • Alot of people are complaining of a loud pop when they turn it on, anyone experiencing that here?

    • Haven't experienced this with my set. No issues switching inputs/turning on/off…

  • damn it i got it for 169 less than a week ago and this comes along…

  • Damn amazon stopped matching $149. Maybe because centre com sold out online.
