    is there a 2tb version?

What a world we live in where >2GB/sec read/write is considered "slow"

    • +5

A world where we have 7GB+ r/w speeds

    • for video editing in 4k to 8k yes

      For gaming no.

      • +1

For PS5 and PC DirectStorage it will be too slow

        • yeah I was talking about the 2gb/ speeds being too slow lol not the 7gb. I meant to say the 2gbps ones aren't good for 4k to 8k video editing but its fine for gaming.

I play chess, snake, minesweeper, frogger, wordle, …
I haven't seen any noticable difference in gaming performance for years.

        • pretty sure all you need is a phone for that don't even need a PC.

The specified speed is a maximum. Unlikely to reach and even less likely to sustain, particularly with writes

    • I blame Elon

2500 read/2100 write for anyone interested

  • Anyone know if it's TLC, MLC, or QLC?

This seems dramless, wouldn't the crucial p1 be a better choice? Good micron nand with dram for basically the same price?

      or Kingston A2000

      • +1

A2000 is the sweet spot for value in an SSD

        • Yeah not a bad SSD 600TBW

      • Actually yeah let me retcon that, your suggestion is better and on a more even footing with this gigabyte. A smidge more expensive than the p1 I think but definitely better bang for buck.

    • I went with this one because of high endurance as well as 5 years warranty (p1 also has 5 years lower TBW)

  • Check out the 1 star reviews on Amazon. One person hit 58% remaining life at only 154 TBW. So the 1600TBW seems untrue.

Could be a bad SSD even if it fails Gigabyte have to give you a new 1 (obviously have to factor in data loss ). I'm not using this drive to store important data.

  • Have a laptop with a spare nvme sslot. Would anyone this as a second storage drive where the data changes a lot? Or will they die quickly with a lot of read and writes and constantly changing data?

  • I learnt this neat calculation from another user recently.
Works out to be $120 for a 1TB.

  • For the brand, size, price and warranty not to shabby but not one that would buy for speed, bump lolz 👍😁

  • Hi, im new to this M.2 nvme game and don’t understand the differences.. what’s a good 1TB option that will be used in a Thunderbolt 3 enclosure? Gonna use it to add store for a M1 Mac Mini
