nice thing about insta pot is accessories …..the corelle shop stocks glass lids and extra internal stainless bowls and some sizes of non stick bowls.

    Noice!

Have been waiting for this to go on special since the Philips one. What an amazing deal, grabbed one :-)

    Thank you OP!

Thanks for alerting me! You're a legend!

      • You're welcome buddy ;-)

  • Bought last week for 178 from target and still waiting on delivery.
Would've much preferred this deal, oh well.

    • @jruderwier - Cancel that and buy this?

      • Can't cancel with target once it's been shipped.
$26 not worth the hassle of a return once it's arrived, imo.

    • +1

is it the same model? The target website sells the older model. Might be worth checking the spec difference.

      • Thanks for this.
I just checked and the Amazon model is the upgraded model - I bought this and will return the target one on arrival

  • What do people think of the combination Instant Pot and Air Fryer. Would that be better for someone who would like to try both this and an air fryer or does it become a Jack of all trades, master of none.

    • +2

I recommend an actual standalone air fryer for air frying. Also unsure of how up to date your username is, but I'd also try Metamucil.

      • Yes but bench space is always an issue. Yes metamucil works! ;)

        • When I was researching, a common complaint was finding a place to place the air fryer lid when not in use. It's quite wide and tall so you end up doubling your shelf or bench footprint to accommodate the extra lid and the cooker. I went with the standalone cooker and am happy with my choice.

      • +1

Metamucil is just a brand name for psyllium husk, which is far cheaper and works just as well.

    • It also depends how you use the air fryer as well. Air frying chips and salmons for a family of 4 will be sufficient on the duo crisp and it will save you kitchen space plus you get pressure cooking function. But if you are using it for a lot of people everyday, you better off with a standalone air fryer like the phillips XXL.

I know it’s limited stock, but thought I’d mention there are two of the 8L sold by Amazon for $144 due to damaged packaging if anybody is interested :).

    • +1

      Thanks
I ordered early this morning which was supposed to be same day delivery yet now is delivery tomorrow

So ive cancelled that order and bought damaged box for $139

      • I also went with the $139 now that you mentioned it, this morning I could only see $144 listed under damaged packaging :)

Insanely good price! Don't know why this deal doesn't have more upvotes!!

  • Definitely need to get the ceramic pot for $37 extra

    • +2

What do you need it for?

      • Cooking rice is way better in the ceramic, easier to clean in general.

        • Might be worth thinking of doing the rice pot in pot.

    • This comes with stainless steel pot right? What's the advantage of the ceramic pot?

      • i dont own one, but id assume heat retention. I've heard the slow cooker function on these arnt as good as an actual slow cooker, as the metal insert/pot doesnt retain much heat, so you wont get as consistent of a temperature compared to a traditional slow cooker.
Though i cant imagine using it as a slow cooker much anyway, given that it basically does the same thing as a slow cooker, but faster.

        • I’ve had this for a while and the only slow cooking we do is making Yoghurt.

    • I must say, i'm really looking forward to the seemingly wide range of accessories available for these, and the replacement parts / consumables at decent prices due to their popularity. It annoyed me with my previous pressure cooker how almost every recipe I found began with 'Set your Instant Pot to…x y z settings'

Out of interest, what are some amazing things to cook in these?

    • +1

I do a lamb shank, and vegetable, soup. Corned beef. You cook the corned beef, with spices, for 90 minutes pressure then it takes 6 minutes, plus pressure time, to do the vegetables whilst the corned beef is resting. It makes good porridge, Yoghurt, stews, risotto, etc.

Actually bought one of these about a week ago for $199, chatted to an Amazon live chat rep and managed to get some $$ back, thanks OP!

  • +1

Not quite as good as the ~$60 pricing error they honoured last year :D

These are great for so many things. Really quick for making soft potato for mash in 15 mins. Found a good recipe for a risotto that works well. Made rice for the first time last night. Works well enough but I’d still buy a rice cooker if it’s a regular part of your cuisine.

  • got the open package open today $139

its new , just been opened

good thing with amazon is you can return

last one i bought masterpro didnt work right so sent it back the other day

this one is good being 8 litres and i like the stainless bowl which will last forever

  • Also received 'damaged packaging' one today. No damage to packaging as was listed. Doesn't look to haver ever been open. Huzzah!
