The Tenda nova MW5s is a whole home mesh WiFi system designed for larger households with 100 Mbps or greater broadband services. Powered by Tenda's mesh technology, each node automatically connects to the other, creating a distributed network throughout your entire home. A 3-pack of MW5s covers up to 3500 square feet. The primary node features gigabit ports, getting the most out of your 100 Mbps or greater broadband service and ensuring smooth playback of 4K videos. And the wall-plug secondary node connects to your existing Mesh network automatically with pre-paired configuration, making setup a breeze.

Anyone looking for a cheap but reliable mesh setup I can definitely recommend these.
I have both the Mw5 and Mw6 versions.
Just my 2 cents.
Have you plugged them straight into an NBN modem by any chance? I can't get mine to pull an address over DHCP, so I still have my old router sitting between them and the modem.
Tenda Nova's can't be plugged into an nbn NTD with particular ISPs. Who are you with?
Aussie. That's interesting, why does the ISP make a difference?
@Joker042: TPG and iinet use VLAN IDs and Tenda Nova's doesn't have the option to configure VLAN IDs.
Follow these steps for Aussie BB.
- Unplug the router from the nbn NTD and the MW5s.
- Wait 30 minutes. Don't skip this step or else the MW5s won't connect.
- Do a full factory reset of the MW5s.
- Plug in MW5s to the nbn NTD.
- Configure the WAN connection to DHCP in the Tenda Wi-Fi app.
@Twix: Thanks a lot, I'll give it a shot later this week.
@Twix: If you don’t mind, but would those ISPs who use VLAN IDs work with any mesh system? Is it just an issue with the Tenda Nova’s?
@tomsco: Mainly an issue with Tenda Nova's. Asus ZenWi-Fi, TP-Link Deco, Amplifi by Ubiquiti Labs and Netgear Orbi are all capable of using VLAN IDs. eero and Nest Wi-Fi can do VLAN IDs with updated firmware.
@Twix: Cheers, really apprecaite it.
Looking into a Mesh system and it's good to gain this knowledge as I'd prefer to avoid having a modem in between because the NBN box is in prime real estate. Haha.
@tomsco: Yep you want the higher specced router plugged into the nbn NTD. Dong Knows Tech is a great source with speed graphs. Do you have any other questions?
I have used it on superloop mate and more nbn. No issue
have a mw3 is this much of an upgrade?
Looks like Mesh5s is one mesh5 + 2 mesh3's so you are gaining one better node.
But the positive is you can add extra nodes
Tenda Nova MW5c-3 Pack is $104.30 on Amazon. The MW5c-3 Pack comes with gigabit wan & lan ports on all 3 units, whereas the MW5s-3 Pack comes with 1 unit having gigabit wan and lan ports and the other 2 units with 100Mbit ethernet ports. Doesn't mean much if you are using the mesh capability, more important consideration if you want to use as access points with cable.
Can also confirm simple to setup and works well…
Seems like a good price for mesh. Others I've seen are 250-300 for 3 units
I dont see the 3 pack for $104 on Amazon/AU :(

This works fine with TPG FTTN?
Comment above suggests you will still need a router - cannot plug directly into the NBN box.
Tenda Nova doesn't work by itself on FTTN. You have to put a VDSL2 modem before it.
Wall phone socket—-VDSL2 modem—-Tenda Nova configured as the Wi-Fi access point.
Even without a vlan ISP the Tenda Nova series seem to have an issue where upload speeds are capped at 1mbps. Running in bridge mode with another router fixes this issue. I do this with my free belong router
I just bought from HT eBay for $110 with express delivery. Also used a $10 coupon and discounted gift cards. Now hiked to $120
