  • Just about to post, very good price.

    • Is it good for software professional? 16GB/256GB may be ideal not sure is it good one? Any inputs

      • Needs a bigger disk, that's for sure. At least you can now swap the M.2 2230 out.

      • +4

7+ can upgrade SSD but not ram.

        • I thought the 7+ used the 7 chassis which only has microSD expansion? It's the 8 that has the SSD access panel, no?

          • +1

@eroticdiagram: 11 gen CPU and SSD slot

            Search YouTube

            • +1

@superforever: Wouldn't a 1tb sdcard be just as good as an option?
I run 256gb main ssd (apps) & 1 TB for docs, photo, video, etc.
              I don't seem to suffer much slow down…. anyway….

              • @Ti-au: Only if you’re not running a lot of apps. Flash drive isn’t as reliable either, but of course its still usable. This is assuming you’re running 16Gb ram, I personally would suffer if I had less than 16Gb, but I guess users who aren’t multitasking much can do with 8Gb.

                • @ATangk: yes you are right - 128Gb does not sound massive…..
and yes I am running 16gb.

  • Hi, does this come with the pen/mouse as well or only the keyboard? Cheers!

  • +1

    only the keyboard

    This

    • thank you :)

  • +1

Excellent price for a great piece of kit

  • +1

    Damn!

  • +1

is this gonna sell out quickly or can I sleep on it?

    • +6

      You Snooze, You'll Lose.

    • +25

sleep on it, if you really needed it you would've bought it already.

      • +7

I do the same with most deals, if I need to take that much time to think about if I need something then I don't really need it. If the deal expires, so be it.

If you need something and it becomes cheaper in the future, you wouldn't be so worked up because you actually needed it. It's only a problem when you buy something that you can afford to wait and it becomes cheaper.

    • +3

Sleep on it, is fine. It is not the best deal

      • +1

Yeah 8gb ram really only limits this to very casual use, I have 8gb on my work computer and it really struggles with just a few apps open - I managed to resist purchasing on this alone.

        • I use 8GB on my desktop rig and it's fine. Probably thrashes the SSD a bit, but that's what it's there for.

        • +2

lol 8GB doesn't limit it to "very casual use"

  • +2

I got one. I don't need a large HDD. I was going to buy a refurbished, but this is a wonderful price.

  • +1

Damn. I bought this on the last deal for $998. This is a steal at this price! My 512GB SSD just arrived today. Finally upgrading it.

    • +1

Where did you get the SSD from?

      • +2

Ebay. Search m2 2230 ssd. Check the last post. There was a few links shared.

        • Thank you - picked up an LTE model last year and have been meaning to swap out the SSD

          • @b3au: Hi, I have a spare and brand new Toshiba Kioxia 512GB that I bought from eBay if you are still looking

    • +1

I grabbed one on the previous deal as well. Hasn't been opened yet… wondering if I can still get a refund and grab this instead.

      • +1

I just did that this morning with mine. Went to TGG for the return and stopped at JB next door to pick this one up.

  • Does it comes with a mouse as well? As the picture show a mouse next to it

    • *Accessories sold separately.

    • I doubt it as the description mentioned keyboard only. They normally come without mouse and keyboard accessories. This deal is bundled with keyboard.

  • Will there be any price match?

  • +1

Will Harvey Norman price match it? If they do you can get 10% student discount which will be $808.2

    • How to get student discount? They may match pre-voucher price.

    • +2

I went to the local Harvey Norman and wanted to use the code to get extra discount. Even though, I had the code..they gave me bullshit excuses and didn't let me use it.

      • No more stock though? I can't find it on the website.

    • +6

      Unfortunately doesn't stack

  • is that code only available online or can you use in store as well?

  • Some what related question - does anyone know why the Surface dock 2 does not come with HDMI and DP ports??

    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/microsoft-…

    and it cost over $400!!!

    • +1

Because USB C is the latest and greatest video connector.

The dock has video-capable USB C ports - you can use cables like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07M61X8N3 to connect to HDMI screens and like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08QV2FSKT to connect to Display Port screens.

      • +1

Thanks but doesn't feel cost efficient where you have to buy further cables when the dock is already $400+

I'm looking to do a dual monitor setup, is it better buying 2xUSB-C to HDMI adapter or 1xUSB-C to DUAL HDMI?

        • +1

          Try this
Limited-time deal: HEYMIX Dual HDMI USB C Hub, 8in1 Type C Hub Dual HDMI,100W PD Charging USB C Docking Station Dual HDMI with USB 3.0 Ports, Micro Sd/SD Card Reader (USB C Hub Triple Displays for Windows Only ) Compatible with MacBook 12, MacBook Pro, Dell XPS 13, Google Chromebook https://amzn.asia/d/8YaWP0U

          • @Richardc: Think that's what I'm after. Is there similar like this in Officeworks or JB hifi? Looking to get one tomorrow for work

          • @Richardc: Dont think this includes 100w power source/port which is the expensive part.

          • @Richardc: 2 x 4K@30Hz

            • @vasil: So you expect a $40 ish accessories has the same specs as the one cost ten times?

              • @Richardc: No.
But the inferior specs must be noted.

        • +1

Dont think $400 usb hub and thewords cost efficient fit anyway..

        • You don't necessarily need a Surface dock - you can probably use something like this - https://www.centrecom.com.au/alogic-universal-twin-hd-pro-do… - which can drive two 1080p monitors via HDMI. But no 4K support…

But do some research first - dock compatibility is an absolute minefield. The DELL docks are great and generally work with everything including Macs, but they're expensive and lead times are massive at the moment.

The Surface dock will A. Work and B. Support 4K screens.

  • +5

if it was 16gb ram would have gotten it

    • +1

      Wishful thinking at this price.

  • What gen are these i5's ?

  • +7

Trying very hard to come up with a reason why I need one…

    • +7

      FOMO

    • Easy. Tax return is around the corner

  • Does this have LTE?

    • +1

      No

      • +1

can it be purchased/installed separately? Pulled the trigger anyway. l0l-

  • just got one

  • +1

Kinda tempted but the type cover isn't the one with the pen included. I wanted it for drawing!

    • +1

It's still perfect for drawing - you just need to buy the Surface Pen separately 👍 It's Bluetooth, it talks to the Surface directly no matter which type-cover you have.

      • Yeah I know. I might see if I cave and get one tomorrow haha. Been mulling over the last few months on a tablet for drawing and I used to use an old Surface Pro 3.

        • I'd grab the newest Slim Pen 2, fixes the jitter and has much better initial activation force than the older pens. Would have to grab the separate charger thing though.

Regret not buying this yesterday as I only just now thought to look up if the new pen fixes applied to older Surfaces too..

          • +1

@TheContact: You can buy it now again.

          • @TheContact: Is this the one?

            edit: NVM its OOS

            • @carlJack: I actually meant the Slim Pen 2. The original Slim Pen does seem to bring improvements to the regular Surface Pen too, not as good with the starting pressure it seems though. Jitter looks comparable from what I found.

Though don't think you can buy the older one anymore?

  • +1

This is a pretty good deal. Finally pulled the trigger as upgrading from gen 5. The old one brought me flawless experience when it comes to MS office, web browsing, as well as some after hour pieces of work on the go.

  • Wish it has 256GB SSD, I guess it's upgradeable but it only takes 2230 M.2s. Have a few spare 2280 which can't be used…

  • +1

Incredible deal. Picked one up. These will be gone tomorrow.

    Thank you muchly.

    • they will still be available tomorrow FOMO hahaha

      • ^^ This comment didn't age well.

        • it did age exceptionally well because it's still in stock yo!

          • @9hundred: Haha touche damn now my comment didn't age well :(

I wonder why it was dipping in and out this morning, perhaps page getting ozbargained?

  • +1

Bought one. C&C after work tomorrow.
Daily driver (personal PC) for the last 9 years has been a 2013 MBP.
See if this stacks up. If not I'm certain I'll recoup most of my money.

    Now to hunt a 512gb M2 drive.

  • Is this Surface Pro 7+ much different to the Surface Pro 8?
It looks like both have 11th Gen Intel processors…

    • +2

Screen size not the same also higher refresh rate

    • Also Surface Pro 7+ is fanless up to the i5 so guaranteed quiet, has a fan in the Pro 8.

      • Not sure that's a good thing lol. Reviews say this device throttles and outs out alot of heat under most workloads when used for extended periods.

        • Yep 100% depends on your use
My daughter has one for school, perfect for in class and light roblox gaming. But compiling code, prob not so much…
