SB is not learning their lesson.
my down vote is nothing personal to OP

    • -2

I expect to see your neg on new deals which might not be the lowest price so far. Cos retailers need to learn that they always have to put deals which match their best ones from the past right? They aren't allowed to put decent filler deals in between which is atleast better than what any other cashback provider is offering now.

      • +10

I don't neg (nor upvote) "not the lowest" deal. I acknowledge EOFY or Black Friday is always the best of the year.
You don't get that kind of deals regularly.
However I do neg "worse than regular discount" deals.
I would argue the regular discount for gift cards is 5% off.
That's why I didn't neg the $3 bonus for $100 gift card deal on Tue and Wed. They were 3%+2%=5%.

        • Very good reasoning here. I agree…

      • +4

They aren't allowed to put decent filler deals

Of course they are! Their customers are beyond just OzB community and they can do whatever they want with their business.

However when it is posted here, people can decide whether it's a good deal or otherwise. And of course, nothing personal against OP

Well maybe shopback got hit by recession, interest hike and the current fuel prices?

On Tuesday, $3 bonus cash back on $100 spend.
On Wednesday, $3 bonus cash back on $100 spend.
On Thursday, $5 bonus cash back on $200 spend.
Today, $2.5 bonus cash back on $100 spend.

Will it be $1.25 bonus cash back on $50 spend tomorrow?

The deals were getting worse and not attractive at all. SB needed to increase the bonus cash back %.

    • +5

At this rate it won't be a bonus, but you will have to pay them the bonus.

    • Lol, how bout now 😁 $5 bonus on $100

  • +8

Looks like the golden age of shopback is over

  • +3

No thanks, I would rather just use my credit card

    • -1

You should use it, but use my crypto opps trouble

  • +5

    Nope

    • +6

Not today. Not yesterday. Not any day.

Still waiting for my eBay plus credit.

      • Glad I didn't take the ebay plus deal

      • Me too! I need to wait until July for a decision to be made..

    Stingy

Seems like a bit of market research.

They're taking the piss now right?

I’ll copy what GYB said from the last deal here before you guys go complaining about ShopBack and negging this deal

It's clear that this promotion doesn't meet the OzB expectations and I'm sorry that many feel this way.
I would just like to clarify that this is not an OzB exclusive promo, we aren't targeting you specifically for this deal. If it was, it would be under the OZBPERKS partnership.
It's an open challenge for any of our 1.5+ million customers to take advantage of & it happened to be posted here on OzB.

Additionally, our team have budgets & KPIs which are taken into consideration when setting up these promos - as any business would.
The team isn't trying to upset our community, they're simply trying to hit their targets efficiently before the end of the month.

Again, I apologise to those who do not see value in this deal.
I just kindly ask for a little understanding rather than pitchforks and torches.

I totally understand the said message above from GYB (from para 3 onwards) as businesses do need to hit certain KPIs and targets each month (I personally had helped to run a small family business so I understand this perspective).

I know ShopBack is currently at its downs atm but please bear in mind that they’re not trying to damage their reputation on the OzB, more merely trying to help

    • -6

They can go and meet their KPIs elsewhere, no point spamming OzB with BS deals everyday.

      • -2

        Re-read para 2 from GYB
These deals aren’t meant for the OzB but just because it gets posted here by us

      • +2

but then you guys complain when there’s no discounts, so something (albeit little) is better than nothing

  • +8

    Getting tighter by the day.

    Should rename themselves to StingeBack.

  • +1

I use these as a bonus on Xbox gift cards 10% back that I use for Xbox or Microsoft store credit. Not the best, but if you need it right now - better than default.

  • +6

FYI the ShopBack Super Swap Gift Card can now be redeemed for Bill Fairies vouchers which can pay off (eligible) BPAY bills. Stacking with this deal gives you a 2 + 2.5 = 4.5% discount, plus any points earned on the purchase of the gift card, plus the ability to use prepaid VISA/Mastercards and/or credit cards to pay off bills which otherwise wouldn't allow this.

    • +2

How does Bill Fairies make money? Could be some sort of Ponzi scheme.

      • +1

They charge a fee when you buy vouchers with credit cards on the site

    • +1

Ooo… that makes it a better value proposition, especially with billers that charge a credit card surcharge

    • -1

How do I find out which biller do they accept?
They only list out a few categories but not the exact billers.
And l can't create an account to check before I purchase and redeem a voucher.

      • +2

I used the service last week, I paid mobile/internet services, gas, water, council rates, electricity and land tax bills with it. I tried paying my credit card bill but I was blocked and I requested for them to add the BPAY codes (Coles CC and HSBC CC). I got this reply - Bill Fairies gift vouchers do not pay discretionary fees such as adult services, gambling services or credit card bills.

        • +2

I successfully paid an ATO bill with it - I can see a clear way to abuse this for the unscrupulous user.

          • -1

@blighst: I find it kind of hilarious that if the Special gift card offer was still running, then combined with this and a handful of sim cards, someone could've made their tax bill disappear in the space of an hour or so.

        • Oh wow, fantastic. If I can get a minimum 2% off my rent I'll be absolutely laughing.

    • +1

Used them to pay my rent tonight. Finally a service where I can use my credit card, earn points and on top of that a discount off my rent as well, all fee free!

      • +2

Looks like Bill Fairies has already been removed from Prezzee! Not surprised, good while it lasted.

        • Damn, should've paid a year in advance when I had the chance.

        • +1

It's now back in Prezzee, but no longer available to shopback super swap

  • +4

Not personal. Understand ShopBack has KPI to meet. But this deal is not great.

  • +3

    @ 2.5% it’s not worth it sorry.

  • +1

Why would you post a similar deal to another one that received 28 negative votes?

  • -5

To be fair, 2.5+2% cash back. That makes 4.5%. It is not the best, but it is still quite reasonable.

    • If you find it reasonable, then good for you! I personally draw the line at 10% cashback for gift card. Others might be somewhere in between. But at the end of the day, we are all entitled to our views/votes in this forum :)

  • +6

It is a no for me, as above 5%+ is a deal.
    Less is just OzAdvertising.

  • +1

Got an IKEA gc with this as the IKEA regular 4% makes up for the lower %. I wouldn't sink $200 into it but $100 is alright.
Times are tough, I'm sure the gc providers are under stress too. I miss my Suncorp gc…

  • +3

So instead of $200 like it was yesterday, the just reduced it to $100 for the same miserable cashback scraps?

I've said it once and I'll say it again: Shopback can 🖕🏻

  • +5

NOT HAPPY WITH SHOPBACK AT ALL LATELY, A FEW CASHBACK WAS REJECTED FOR NO REASON , AND THEY ARE STALLING TO HONOUR IT. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

    • -1

Hey @jwl81124, I'll have a chat with our CS team to cancel the ticked & just honour this from our funding.
I was still waiting an update from you via DMs, but I guess this works too.

      • I have sent you the DMS, hope you can help this time, as you are the store REP in the OZBARGAIN community. Thank you.

      • +1

When $40 eBay Plus cash back is going to be visible on SB list? It was said 23rd of May, but nothing happen and the reply to the ticket came back with 22 of July???
        WTF?

  • +4

Definitely not worth the trouble on a standalone basis i.e. just the $2.50 cashback on $100. However, in my case I wanted to buy $100 Google Play credit using another offer:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/701568

So using this offer I'll get 2% cashback for buying $100 Amazon gift card on Shopback plus the $2.50 bonus cashback. I loaded up the $100 credit on my Amazon account and used $90 of it to pay for a $100 Google Play gift card. So for $100 outlay I'll end up with $114.50 in value: $100 Google Play credit + $10 Amazon credit (balance of the $100 I bought) + $4.50 cashback.

YMMV but if it fits in with something you were planning to do then it's a bonus. Otherwise by itself it hardly worth the effort

Blocking shopback deals from here forth. Too low quality.
