Leaptel NBN Plans: 50/20 $59.95 Monthly, 100/20 $74.95 Monthly for 12 Months (No Lock-In Contract, New Customers Only) @ Leaptel

700

We're happy to announce we've rolled out our EOFY22 specials. They're pretty generous in of themselves and I think we're one of the only RSPs offering a 12 month discount. Also as you're not locked in if something better does pop up in that 12 month window you've always got options.

The offer
  • 50Mbps/20Mbps – $59.95 for first 12 months then $74.95 ongoing.
  • 100Mbps/20Mbps – $74.95 for first 12 months, then $89.95 ongoing
  • 100Mbps/40Mbps – $84.95 for first 12months then $99.95 ongoing.
  • 250Mbps/25Mbps – $99 for first 12 months, then $119 ongoing.

All the above have unlimited data.

$0 activation including for month-to-month. We do offer a 24 month option if you need a modem and don't want to pay upfront for it.

Speed & Service

We are with nbn directly on 121/121 nbn POIs which means guaranteed no CVC congestion as we control our own CVC and have lots of headroom.

We have points of presence in data centres in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney with peering and transit in each.

Our support team is located in Box Hill, Melbourne, so when you have a problem you're talking to someone local. Wait time are kept to a minimum and we support livechat and email tickets as well.

Who we are

Many of you won't know who Leaptel is. And that's fair, we've mostly been focused on providing services on the Opticomm network which has allowed us to do what we're now doing on nbn.

To keep it brief, this is who we are:

  • We are 100% Australian owned and operated.
  • We are 100% committed to providing a high quality product.
  • We are 100% dedicated to providing the best customer service possible.
  • We are 100% devoted to improving every day in everything we do.
  • We are 100% willing to own our mistakes and learn from them.

And I think our reviews back this up.

You can check out our Whirlpool Thread here.

We will happily answer any questions here as well of course.

Likewise. I’ve been with ABB forever and am not keen to jump ship but looks like they’re technically competent and well, cheaper.

You should not see a speed drop, as per our typical evening speeds on our website. We're not some new kid on the block, we've just been focused on delivering Opticomm services. You can check out our reviews at - https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/leaptel

      • Do you need a special router like tpg? Or can I just use my existing router?

        • in general or for opticomm (no idea what that is btw).
I've used the same Belong router for Belong, Tangerine, a few others and now Leaptel..
All the same, just change username & password usually (HFC).

        • You won't need a special router, because unlike TPG we do not vlan tag.

Essentially we're no different to Superloop, ABB, Telstra etc. now in that we use ipoe by default. So plug your router in and if it is configured for ipoe it should just work.

We do support PPPoE as a fallback option if you have difficulty and our support team can assist with that.

  • Good pricing, thought I'd give it a go. Just realised I'm on one of those four but hopefully nevermind. I put the date as today so I guess I have to wait until midnight.

If you want we're happy to hold your order until the POI goes live direct. You will get a lesser experience on the Vocus POIs there's no way around it. Feel free to drop me a message with your details if you want to chat in PM.

  • what hardware is provided for phone plans?

also, can I keep using my Telstra modem?

    • Hi derdew - We're currently providing the Netcomm NF18MESH for customers who select VOIP. You can keep using your Telstra modem as long as you can set it up for our connection. IPoE or PPPoE is supported. I do know VOIP can be tricky/impossible to configure on some ISP routers so best to dig in the settings before deciding one way or another to avoid frustration later.

  • Connection date must be within 30 days or it can be set months in the future?

    • Hi HardQuiz - We're happy for people to future date into July with their orders, but if its too far past 30 June we'll give you a buzz to discuss it. We can't hold the promo pricing indefinitely I'm afraid.

      • Thanks for that.

I plan on joining late June for a July connection date which suits me perfectly.

        • That sounds perfectly fine :)

  • I have an Optus FTTN Modem can I use that?

    • Hi Adam-07 - I would assume it supports either IPoE or PPPoE so yes it should work.

  • Moved into a Opticomm area in February and these guys have been absolutely solid. Wish they had faster than 100/40 in my area but other than that great service, speed and support whenever the connection drops they email me as to why it went out without even asking.

    • +1

It sounds like your area is limited by Opticomm :( They have a bunch of sites that don't support faster speeds which is really disappointing.

  • Hmm my promo period for Aqua NBN is over in a week so had better sort out another deal fast.
It's been faultless for $50/month (50/20) (HFC where I am is quite good) but obviously like all other plans it's not really worth the following normal rates of $79/month

    Cheers,

Ps. Feel free to PM me with a referral code, keen on the 50/20 for $59.95/m for 12 months

  • Good pricing and just in time for a switch. Couldn't find a referrer list, anyone have a referral code?

    • There is no referral code for this you just sign up via our website. :)

    • Just PM'd you.
All connected easily and quickly :).

Wouldn't be bad to add leap to the ozbargain list

  • If anyone has a referral code please PM me.

  • Hmm. No internet wtf. Maybe a tree got knocked over but no reports on nbnco

    • It's alright guys, back on. We got some wild weather in BNE

      • Great to hear it wasn't an issue with us… but sorry about the weather. It's been a pretty rough time for your part of the world.

If we see an nbn POI go offline our NOC will send a notification out to our customers. We're also working to automatically forward on unplanned nbn outages for individual services via email, as at present our system is only sending out the planned outage notifications that nbn sends us.

        • No worries, sounds good. Outages would affect whichever provider is used but usually show up on the NBN status page.

          Cheers

          • @G-rig: They sure will but alot of that info is generated by fault reports too.

            • @LeaptelRep: Oh right, well nothing showed up on the NBN outages page so who knows. Didn't check it again but was alright in the morning.

              • @G-rig: If the timestamps on your post are AEST then you probably had the issue overnight? I have no idea how the nbn status page data is populated but the time your internet went off might play into it.

I did just check our monitoring for the 31st and no POIs went offline in BNE so I just know it wasn't us.

                • @LeaptelRep: That's all good mate, probably a one off but they (nbnco) may not provide live status updates overnight.

    I'm so over these 6 / 12 month plans.

I don't know that the plan is with these ISPs, were all just churning bi annually.

Just offer a better rate and keep your customers.

I'm still on a 4 year old Exetel plan.

    • Agree but some are lazy to move once they feel / experiencing good service. Like me… at old belong starter plan, off contract, paying 60 for 37/18 speed

    • Tend to agree too, if it was an extra $5-10 then most people would probably stay. You just have to make a note in your calendar and not that hard with online forms these days. At least with Leaptel they are fixing the price for 12 months. $60 for 50/20 seems ok still but kind of the limit. Apparently NBN are increasing prices.

Hopefully the referral system works, tangerine were great with that and helps a few bills here and there. Please add to ozbargain section, great to improve customer base I think.

The Aqua promo was great @ $50/month for 9 months but then wanted $79/month. Guess they are punting on most people forgetting to review plans for a month or two. Actually after changing I did get a message to see what they could do for me to stay which is nice (i notified leaving anyway to stop the direct debits), but yeah the fees and manual signup wasn't the best, maybe different these days with a more established website etc.

      • Can you clarify on the ozbargin referal part of your post? I don't quite follow what you mean here. We're also new to ozbargin so that might be part of it.

    • +5

To be perfectly honest with you, these prices are not sustainable in the long term. The reason internet is so expensive in this country (relative to other countries) is that the nbn wholesale price is so high. We're a business just like any other and we want to see a return on our investment and grow our business, we don't exist to just break even.

So we offer plans at a break even point and hope that customers will stay with us if they like the service they get. And in our experience a good portion of our customers stay even after promotional offers are finished.

      • Yes that's fair.. like anything customers need to weigh up the price of renewal for everything (insurance, medical, electricity, internet etc).
I still think $60/month for 50/20 is a good amount to aim for, so like I said nice to be able to stay on that (or slightly more, depends how much the increase is after the promotion).

        Cheers

        • +2

Oh I absolutely understand why everyone is looking for the best value for money, particularly right now.

Sadly unless nbn changes its wholesale pricing down, you won't see $60 offered as anything other than a promotional price from anyone, purely for the reasons I've outlined.

I think one of the things people miss about telecommunications in general, is that we're one of the few products/services where prices traditionally have gone down or stayed stable. How long that remains the case with the cost of everyone else going up I don't know. Remember we have the same costs as you do, our insurance is going up, our power, our staffing costs (if you're Australian based like us, no idea about offshore).

If nbn keeps its pricing the same, or even raises it as it's suggested it might, then it will be inevitable that prices go up, driven first by market leaders (eg. the big telcos) and then followed by smaller companies like ourselves.

  • Do you guys have any 25/5 or 25/10 plans?

    • Hi dudebargain, we do offer a 25/5 plan but there's no special on it currently and I think you'd actually be better off selecting the 50/20 plan for the first 12 months and then downgrading.

  • Thanks LeapTel reps - super happy with the delayed activation, as it'll allow a smooth transition from the $2/2 months of Telstra NBN I just started :)

  • Signed up today, got disconnected from Aussie Broadband around 3.20am

Now still waiting to be connected, called their contact centre at 9am and they said it should be done within the hour, possibly half an hour. Still waiting for the connection, YMMV

Stuck in 4G now while waiting…

    • +1

I supect your order is in with nbn and it'll be stuck in an in progress state. In almost all cases service transfers are close to instant (<10minutes) but nbn does have 1 business day to complete a service transfer before they're in SLA breach

This seems to mostly happen with HFC although occasionally I've seen it on FTTN too. If you want to send me a PM with your details I can check to confirm the above.

      • DM sent, I am with HFC (arghh), previous connections with Superloop and ABB was practically instant though

        • Yeah it really should be instant in this day and age. I'd be really curious to know if nbn is detecting a signal issue or something as this tends ot hold up HFC order provisioning. Orders then get stuck halfway complete.

          • @LeaptelRep: Thanks much for looking into this, it's working now as intended :)

        • HFC should be pretty instant and hassle free these days, once you have a good connection. I'm happy with it, whomever the service provider.

  • +1

Delighted to say we are now nbn direct on all 121 POIs. I will update the OP.

  • +1

ipoe is now on by default for nbn. The email you receive when the service goes live does still reference PPPoE but will also shortly be updated to reflect ipoe being the default method of connection.

  • If I switch speeds within the 12 months do I keep the discounted pricing?

    E.g. can move back and forth between 50mbps, 100mbps and 250mbps for $59.95 / $74.95 / $99

    • +1

If you move between plans that have the same promo then you can keep the promo, but if you moved to a plan with a lower value promo then your promo would be downgraded. And once it's downgraded you wouldn't get it upgraded again.

So let's say you signed up on the 250Mbps/25Mbps for $99 for 12 months ($20 off for 12 months) then if you moved to a 100Mbps plan your promo would switch to $15 per month for the remaining period on the promo, and if you then went back to the 250Mbps/25Mbps you wouldn't get the $20 promo back.

Further if you moved to a plan without a promo entirely (eg. 12 or 25) then you wouldn't keep the promo from 50/100/250.

      • Thanks for explaining it clearly

      • Thank you for the detailed answer and examples.

  • Is this expired. For 50/20 plan i see only 69$ and not 59$

    • This has not expired. Are you sure you're not looking at our Opticomm plans?

      • Yes, I was looking at Opticomm. Thank you

  • just signed upto 50/20 nbn plan. hopefully can get a nbn technician before this weekend.

  • Hmm just got a bill com in. I thought there was meant to be a referral bonus deducted, I've referred at least people from here.
Perhaps it goes on the next month (and the one after) if they haven't quite reached a month yet.

    Cheers,

      As described in the T&Cs:
Once a referee has been accepted by Leaptel and paid for their second month, the referrer will get a credit of $50 applied to their account.

So they need to have paid their second month's invoice for it to trigger.

      • Thanks mate, I read that somewhere before but wasn't sure.
