[VIC, Refurb] Office PC: Intel Core i7-2600, 8GB DDR3, 128GB SSD, Wi-Fi, $99 + $50 MEL Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Price Performance PC

110

Following our last cheapskate i5 deal, Price Performance PC present to Ozbargainers a cheapskate 'upgrade' to a Sandy bridge i7-2600.

Again, this Dell Optiplex 990 is a nice compact unit for students or the home office.
Works well for surfing the web, multimedia, basic spreadsheet or word processing.

What it doesn't do:

  • Play the latest games (or any games other than Solitaire for that matter)
  • Light up like a Christmas tree
  • Not for 3D modelling, crunching large databases, bitcoin mining etc
  • Not worth upgrading
  • Warranty? This was manufactured in 2012. Enough said.

Specifications:

i7-2600 3.6ghz cpu
Intel HD Graphics 2000
8gb dual channel DDR3 memory
128gb Samsung Solid State Drive
Usb dual band wifi and bluetooth adapter
DVD-RW

Click and collect or contactless delivery can be arranged around Melbourne.

We also have a range of monitors that can be purchased separately. Feel free to give us a call to discuss your needs.

  • Seems like good value for simple work .. shame they do not ship to NSW

    • +1

Even “simple workers” watch YouTube and this won’t accelerate VP9 or AV1.

Would be fine for 1080p, yeah? 2600 would still tear through it I'd imagine.

        • +1

Yeah. This PC is fine for Microsoft Office tasks and web surfing.

Hyperlinked website says “16gb dual channel DDR3 memory”.

Thanks for picking that up Alex. Was too early this morning. Website has been updated to 8gb.

      • +3

        Pity the regression.

Wow $50 delivery? Are you personally delivering them?

    • At this price we prefer pick up. This batch is for quick clearance.

  • Platform is a bit old. Not terrible value of you can't stretch to a newer i5.

  • Seems to be sold out

  • i7-2600 a bit too old, any 4xxx or 6xxx?

  • If you’ve been using fairly new pcs, you will feel it as sluggish. Then you will want to throw it away and think you are getting what you pay for. It’s cheap but I won’t fall for it again.

    • but if you’ve been using something fairly old you’ll think it’s fast

    • It's entry level computing, suited most for those who otherwise have no PC access. Not really something someone with thousands of dollars to spend on a PC would buy.
