Camels say it's been this price since June 2020

    • +1

Gg… I googled everywhere is 2.20 like Coles and woolies

    • +6

      Why so salty?

    • Cheaper in Salt Lake City……

  • +2

Might not be himalayan but is vaporated sea salt abit better?

Better for the environment & the workers involved. But health wise. Salt is salt

    • +2

This would be better. Less heavy metals than himalayan salt

      • +2

        Like Metallica?

        • Like iron oxide i.e. rust. That's what gives it the pink colour

    • +3

"But health wise. Salt is salt"

Unless it's iodised salt, which this is not. So depending on your circumstances it can be better or worse than iodised salt for your health

    • +6

There is no basis in science that salt is bad for your health. Its a hangover from an old health fad.

      • username doesn't check out re: health advice :)

      • +1

I mean, if you have too much salt, then yeah, that's pretty bad. But a few shakes on your meal or in your cooking and it's flavourtown!

        • +5

yeah - you should add enough salt to change the taste, not the texture

      • +2

Salt is essential to the human body but too much might cause health problems. There are some questions about that but I was referring to the inclusion of iodine in salt. If you need iodine in your diet (don't get enough from other sources) then all other things being equal, iodised salt would be better for your health than plain salt.

    • +1

      But health wise

Yup, the leeches around here will attest.

    • Mined salt typically has heavy metals in it, so no, salt isn't just salt in this case

  • Himalayan is prettier, that's about it. They're not kidding when they say "trace amounts of whatever."

  • +1

    Don't get salty with me…

    • +1

Argh, I was gonna use that pun

  • +3

Or rather 2kg for $2.06 - 2 min buy (that's a lot of salt… but your pool might need it)

    • I bought this for my pool few weeks ago πŸ‘

  • just a side point.

Its cooking salt, not table salt.

Of course its a little more coarse.

But a true ozbargainer wouldn't let a little refinement like that, get in the way of a saving.

    • Is it kosher?

  • +4

    MSG better

  • +1

    Min order 2 packs

  • +10
    • +5

seems better coz u need to buy min 2 with amazon. better off buying at woolies

    • +3

      Agree completely. This Amazon deal isn't a deal. 2x 1kg for $3.70 or 1x 2kg for $2.70.

    • +3

      Agreed - no deal

Not only that, complete waste of resources to get a 2kg bag of salt delivered to your door when you can just pick it up from a local supermarket during a routine shop

      • -1

I like my Amazon packages, they're like a packaged gift at your door

        • +2

you receive a packaged gift and in return you give a packaged junk to the environment?

  • +8

Ah, salt. My favourite packeted product with a stated use by date …

    • +1

Honey is the one for me. It literally never goes off yet still has a use by/best-before date.

    • +1

I wonder how many millions of years old Himalayan sea salt is?

      • +1

They carbon date it to figure out the expiry

    • I'd better check mine …..

  • +1

less than a $1 for 2/3kg at Costco all the time

  • +1

Now I need a proper salt container. Any help?

    • +1

air tight is the way to go ….. salt absorbs moisture so in high humidty, or winter it can clump ….. only time those open salt containers are usefull if you are using a lot of salt

      • They look neater on the kitchen bench instead of a bag of sugar and salt. Plus used everytime you cook so the zip is not convenient

  • Don't need it, bought two.

  • Seems like a waste of resources to have this sent for a non-deal. Like mailing bottled tap water.

    • Make sure you vote green.

      • -2

        Yeah I do already.
Not everything about Greens is great, much of it is meh, but hopefully they could pull enough swing to break the corporate sponsorship model in Aussie politics. That is the number one change I want to see in Australia. The peoples' interests being put above big business.

      • +1

Kinda dumb to think that you have to vote Green to care about the environment and waste.

  • -1

hmm - how much of my salary should I dedicate to salt … ?

  • Minimum order 2 x 1kg, wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a 2kg pack from a supermarket?

    • It is - already discussed

Posted as a Deal 40min before you commented - 2kg Saxa for $2.70
      That's just the normal price.

      This isn't a Deal.

      • +1

WTH?! Must be a slow day. Regular supermarket prices are deals now? :D

        • Agree - these Deals are not worth their salt!
So many upvotes for a Deal dearer than supermarket prices!

  • +1

    Standard price.

  • Standard price, and 30+ idiots are upvoting it.
