Might be a better idea to get the brown switch variant for $8 more if you do a lot of typing and/or don't want a loud keyboard, but still a nice price for someone that doesn't mind blue switches.

    Brown switch variant - $25

    Red switch variant - $27

Wonder why they staggered the price for these lol. I don't think any of the switches cost more than the other to manufacture.

Red more popular than brown, brown more popular than blue.

    • +4

Red for gamers, brown for glarses, blue for annoying your coworkers.

Garage. First failed in a few months. They replaced it and the second failed again. Didn’t bother with a third.

A pattern with most of my Kogan purchases. Never again.

    • +6

Garage? As in put in the garage along with all the other stuff you've hoarded over the years?

      • +7

        Garage!

          RRP $99.99

          This is garage.

      • +1

Swiping keyboards on phones are awesome, until they’re not and you don’t notice “garage”.

      • +1

The Garage makes for an awesome Man-cave (or she-shed)!

Might not matter but which switches? I've had a brown switch variant going strong for 2+ years

      • I had a brown switch fail within 6 months, but I'm used to Model M's so I think I may be heavy handed

      • +2

I’ve had one of these since 2016 and it’s still going strong. Any time I think to upgrade it I just can’t justify it, nor find another keyboard with USB pass through (why this isn’t just a standard on any keyboard I’ll never know).

So yeah, some Kogan stuff can last a fairly long time, generally though if it’s a rebrand of something else though 😝

      • Looked up the order email, it was blue.

      • I have a Tecware KB with outemu brown switches. Had a few switches that get held down a lot fail, WASD area and the shift key. Luckily they're replaceable in this model and it came with spares. Also have a box of akko switches standing by to go in if I run out of spares or get bored one day.

Had a few switches that get held down a lot fail, WASD area and the shift key

Yep exactly same here with 2x Kogan full RGB outemu browns. WASD is notorious. I can temporarily fix it by taking the keycaps off and spraying the switches with dry contact cleaner. But it inevitably dies again after a while.

    blue switch
    red switch
    brown switch

where's Dr Suess when we need him?

    • +5

I do not like green switches and lube!

  • +3

I have both brown and blue switch versions, purchased at the previously princely sum of $39? years ago
They are okay, but relatively cheap.
I still have them and they work, but they're kinda backup keyboards now.
I have a Razer Huntsman, which is a bit nicer, but hey, at this special Garage price, it's probably a good deal.

  • +2

as with all kogan boards, expect one or more keys to not register, often out of the box. depending on which key it is, you may be able to live with it.

    • +1

this, had a broken key so i got a replacement which was also broken. I gave up and bought a gmmk

  • Can anyone with this confirm software required to utilise RGB features etc? No good for work computers?

    • +1

you don't need the software to change the basic controls already built into the keyboard.

    Loud af
    Bought from the prev deal.

My office colleagues are not too happy (Kinda was the reason to buy though 😂)

    • lol i wish i had a mech blue switch back at my last job to drown out their relentless gossiping

  • has anyone changed the keycaps to nicer ones like https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003338668914.html ?
