True nice that its compact. 3060 runs at 95w though whole package is decent for the price 👍
Would you recommend this laptop for work and light gaming?
Well it's 2.4 ish kgs so keep that in mind for work and taking it places.
Before anything I would recommend checking out Jarrod tech review on this machine
Watching it now 😄
Also uncle Jarrod from Jarrod's tech does recommend to upgrade the screen
I have the $1,499.00 Ryzen 3050Ti one sitting next to my Lenovo X1 Extreme with 300nits screen and on full brightness they look basically the same.
ryzen variant claims a good screen, 100% sRGB, although a bit dim at 250 nit
good option with a 3060
intel variant worse screen
Yes the Intel version is 250 nits, but only 45% NTSC(55/65% sRGB) compared to the AMD version.
if using an external monitor most of the time though the difference in screen isn't as big a deal though is it- prefer intel myself and the rest of the specs look identical
Doesn't it defeat the purpose of a laptop, If I needed to purchase an external monitor to obtain same specifications of an inbuilt screen.
The Intel version also has significantly worse battery life due to being much less energy efficient than the AMD version.
Is it a 95W 3060 for both Ryzen and Intel?
So, Intel for slightly better performance but amd for better screen?
Not really. The Intel i7 11800H is actually slower overall then a AMD Ryzen 7 5800H. If you refer to the independent, and least biased, Passmark. The i7 scores 21365 whilst the Ryzen 7 scores 21468.

The 5800H is also a lot more power efficient than the i7. Reviews of the Victus AMD vs Intel, have shown that the AMD version can achieve 9 to 11hrs of productivity usage, whilst the Intel version only gets about 5 to 6hrs.
To my knowledge, an Intel chip delivers better peak performance but was not battery friendly at idle.

Seems like Dell also has a laptop clearance on ending today, up to 40% off.
I'm in the market for a laptop as I've been running a HP AIO for longer than I can remember. Only an occasional gamer but would like something that will last me for a few years in terms of upgrading, mainly used for multi-screen Plex server, media player and net browsing - is this overkill? Should I just go for something like https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/698399 instead?
Thanks
What games do you occasionally play?
Mainly racers like Forza. But the old man is visiting for a few months, he has recently retired and is obsessed with FPS so something to occupy him would be good.
This would be better for FPS games with it's discrete graphics compared to the other HP you've referred to. Or tell your old man to bring a Series X with me when he comes visit :)
This laptop is much better for gaming I imagine.
The RTX3060 in this compared to the Iris XE are in different leagues according to benchmarks.
Considering getting this, compared to JB-hifi's pricing, this is a bargain.
I added this to my cart for $1,379 and when I went through checkout it had increased to $2,229 at the checkout confirmation page..
Lets hope HP can honour the price or can the order..
They ran out of stock about 11:30pm
Good by HP. They honoured the price and refunded the difference. Very happy.
My laptop was delivered today, very impressed with the time from ordering to delivery.
Unfortunately, the touchpad is not level, looks to have been compressed into the laptop on one side, resulting in it being uneven. Otherwise, it seems to be fine.
Not a great start, I hope HP's after-sales support are accomodating in organising a replacement.
Pretty compact RTX3060 notebook with Ryzen 7 5800H

Only downer is the screen is 250 nits, bit 100%sRGB
