What does 'Japan Quality' mean? Made in Japan? Japanese brand? Badge engineered? Almost all hard drives are made in Thailand and China.

The "? Mysterious Deal" thing already puts me off tbh.

I bought a WD Passport USB 3.0 from Amazon a few weeks back for $115 USD, so this is not that great a deal.

The warehouse guy shook hands with a Japanese fellow years ago and the quality is rubbing off during packaging.

    • Much better to get the OW deal on the toshiba

    Not that cheap.

I can pay less for the same capacity hard drive with a brand name, or pay more for this and not know what it is.

I think you should be less mystic and try to 'sell' the actual benefit of this drive over others.

  • Cool a Buffalo 2.5" for $125 :O

Just wondering if it's the superior new model.

EDIT: On further inspection it seems to be!

      wut?

this deal is butts. smelly hairy butts.

    • yea, in the CC product picture it says "ministation" on the drive chasis.

is this new model worth a $6 extra premium over the Toshiba Canvio @ OW?

I am negging for this mysterious deal BS. All it does is prevent potential buyers from comparing prices.

If the unnamed drive were any good and/or cheaper than elsewhere, the brand and model number would be front and centre for us to compare. Because it's not, I will assume it is either no good, or at the very least, not the cheapest.

In any case, as above, it's not the cheapest 1TB 2.5" USB 3.0 drive.

  • lol "Japanese quality"! Oo la la.

There was a deal JUST posted where you know the brand and also this price isn't even below that one.

  • $125 on a mystery hdd? Yeah naaahhhhhh.

  • Although ladled as mysterious brand hard drive you can tell from the picture this is a Buffalo Ministation 1tb usb3 portable hard drive. HD-PNTU3 Series

Yeah it's easier than "Who's that Pokémon?".

      People must be blind.

      • Even if it is, are you sure every drive they send out will be a buffalo? They may fill orders with another brand, because they haven't promised a specific brand

Whilst I can't be bothered looking…. Many online retailers will have the words 'photos are for illustration purposes only' somewhere in their T&C's.
I'm not sure it's safe to assume anything….
