Dang beat me by 53 seconds

    • Probably old enough to be your Daddy ;-)

$998. Should be posted in the forums. OP does not even know if it is a bargain.

    • +3

reply op posted first time and missed price section

    • +5

Maybe you should instead make a forum post detailing about how this makes you feel as it seems you have strong emotions about this.

      • -4

Strong feelings? How did you come to that conclusion? If you bothered to read the description, you would come to the reasonable conclusion that the OP does not know if what he posted is even a bargain 'seems like a good deal', 'Thoughts????'.

Look at your language structure and excessive punctuation. Community decides a deal as always.

You know how that works yes, press the green plus if you like the deal?

          • -6

@decc0: What's wrong with my language structure? Do you prefer a long sentence? If you find this to be a deal, why don't you press the green plus?

  • Anyone having any luck finding a review… :O

This looks to be a hn exclusive model. Classic tactic to sidestep price match obligations.

The biggest downside of this laptop:

        battery size
        3-cell, 41 Wh Li-ion

        display
        (1920 x 1080), IPS, micro-edge, anti-glare, 250 nits, 45% NTSC

There's also 2x4GB RAM preinstalled (upgradable)

        • Yeah, bummer when upgrading memory will end up with a useless 4gb stick they have the same unit with 16 & 1 TB but an extra $500, only will ever be used as work at home no gaming and definitely won't need the extra storage…

I had it for work and generally, it is an ok laptop and not the best screen, a bit washed out. Body constructions very plastiky and feels cheap.

Have a hp envy i7 6 years old seems nothing changed with HP.

  • +12

Personally wouldn't bother with any HP laptops that aren't from a specific line (Envy, Pavilion etc) because these "budget" HPs are not really worth it

What's the point of an Optane drive in an SSD equipped computer?

    • Yeah I thought they were long gone

    • +4

I think it's using the Intel Optane H20, an OEM-only product that you can't buy off store shelves.

It's a frakenstein hybrid of a low end QLC SSD, paired with 32GB of optane memory that lives on the same M.2 single sided stick.

      • Didn't realise the NAND and Optane storage were on the same M.2.

Seems to have some of the advantages of a TLC NAND + DRAM cache drive, but with many more drawbacks. Wonder what the BOM difference is.

    • Marketing. Although it may help once the SLC is at capacity and the drive is full.

I almost bought one of these once, cannot recommend. The shell feels so fragile.

    • I can confirm its fragile. I wouldn't trust it to last

For $1K this USB C port does not even support PD or Display (1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate;)

no more HP laptops for me, all failed on me

    • +1

Agree. the last 3 HP laptops i have had, have been sent off for repairs within a month. Why do I never learn?

    • +2

Not sure if it's just low end hp but my spectre is still going strong after 6 years. Bought as a refurb, one of the usb ports is acting up and I've had to replace the batter twice (understandable) due to reduced capacity.

Dell isn't any better. Bought from them and the bastards didn't even tell me about the screen replacement program. Guess what's stopping me using it right now? The screen is fkd. Now i have to go buy another laptop for my kid.

And after reports I'm reading on ozb I'm just waiting for my wife's Lenovo flex to fail.

If manufacturers can't get it right cheap they should get reamed by ACL until they get their act together. If it's too cheap to work then don't make it. Not that any of ours were cheap ($1000-1600)

  • Could anyone please suggest if this is a good deal:
    Dell xps 13 i7/16/512
    with 3 years warranty

  • plastically feel ……all manufacturers have entry level laptops that are “plastically” they are targeted at home users who don’t want or need a desktop and have a limited budget so can’t afford “enterprise laptops” i have a plasticy laptop and the the problem is i have cracked 2 screens because stuff in my back pack pushed against the lid.

my work supplied laptop, much stronger , and they need to be as we take our work laptops home to work from home and back to office if we work in office.

it’s why companies have a range of laptops, it’s not processor or memory, it’s build.

you need to decide what your use is ….mainly at home and plugged in or daily journey in a backpack and working off batteries.

  • Any thoughts on this for around $1500???Inspiron 16 2-in-1 7620 Laptop 12th Gen i7-1260P 16GB RAM 512GB SSD FHD+ Iris Xe
