      If you want the service so badly then pay for it like everyone else.

      purpose of promotions/advertising is to sell something to someone who wouldn’t otherwise buy. I’d sign up if free, and unlikely to use, yet may end up subscribing at expiry due to inertia. I’m surprised they didn’t want CC for “verification”.

        Agreed, however they should not feel obliged to provide you a trial for 12 months for a service that brings them zero value or returns. There is a limit to what they can define as being "free" whilst still maintaining profitability and this whole fiasco would have not have made them any money at all.

            With respect to Netflix they are simply trying to make money so they can continue to produce content. Content which you seem to think is fair to steal. Do you think media companies are simply charities set up to produce free entertainment for thieves?

            • @miztadave: I never said stealing content is the way to go but I agree everything is available online for anyone who wishes to obtain it that way. I still wouldn't compare downloading content against someone breaking in and taking your belongings. The impact of theft is completely different when comparing it against a billion dollar corporate vs an individual. Yes companies lose money but the impact on individuals is far more greater. So I still do not agree with your comparison.
              It's funny you mention thieves here considering if you were one of those folks who tried to get this deal you'd be on the same page. Only difference is instead of downloading you wanted to abuse an issue with the system and attain access to paid content for free. By that logic we are all thieves here.

                I understand your comment regarding the comparison between burglary and content theft. My point is more that both are theft - not a comparison of the effects.

                Actually I didn't attempt to access these services via these "deals". I've commented several times, as well as contacted the moderators asking such posts be removed, railing against people piling on posts that are quite obvious pricing errors. It must cause a great deal of pain and cost, particularly for small businesses, refunding these "purchases".

          • @thousandsuns: I was always amazed that netflix made it so easy to password share even in different countries, I assume they were making good profits and weren't too worried but now the share price has dropped and subscribers are leaving they are working to stop the practice, most other streaming services prevent such practices. You can still get a Turkey netflix HD account for under $4 per month

To state the obvious, if everybody downloaded GoT then of course there would be no GoT or anything else to steal…

      Personally if I lose Kayo, which I wasnt currently a paying customer, no big deal and aside from a little 'awww' moment, I'd move on and not care.
      But my Binge plan apparently doesnt exist anymore at the price I've been paying (I've been paying $14 for HD - when doing this deal last night I noticed now thats an SD package price). So if they screw me around with Binge and offer less than I had before at the same price, or try to move me to a more expensive plan, I will very rightfully be annoyed. So IMO people do have a right to be a little mad about how this is being handled. Maybe a couple thousand got through last night before they patched the code out, in reality they should have either just let it be and consider it a mistake that cost less than the annual salary of an intern, or at best maybe try to cancel all the new accounts made last night to take advantage of this offer. Screwing with existing (or even former) customers is going to be very bad for them

    Binge stopped working for me. Received an email saying payment failed for kayo (I didn't subscribe to kayo) and to complete payment and re enter voucher code.

    Murdoch better not sell our details on…

    Binge still seems OK for me (was a current customer), still shows next payment due in a year and can watch shows.
    Kayo is playing shows with no issue but unable to access my account to check the billing dates (former customer but was not active before yesterday for a few months). If they are going around revoking this would be a massive own goal on the brand and would turn me off both for good

    At this stage, my FLASH trial period is showing as being extended to 12 months (I was half-way through a six-month trial).

    I was already on KAYO and I didn't touch that.

    Surely this is breach of their terms, if we all lodge complaints to our relevant Fair Trading we should all win as it must be a false advertising claim? As other members have said, they can't just have a voucher with clear terms allow sign up and cancel the next day?

      Where was the voucher advertised though? I mean besides here? It seems like it’s F1 related and meant for Kayo (since the just renewed the F1 deal recently).

      I’m wondering if this was an employee voucher that got leaked or something? Makes no sense that they would just randomly offer everyone 12 months free on all their services.
      I don’t see any reason they would honour this.

      If someones existing account gets cancelled and they lose their existing deal… then I can understand being annoyed at that. Sorting it out with billing is likely to be a nightmare as well.

      I think if they sent emails to everyone apologising that the code was never meant to be shared publicly and offering maybe a reduced trial, fewer people would take issue with it. Lost my subscription this morning. No email, no explanation, nothing.

      Is every deal somehow revokable by the vendor at will at any time for any reason?
      What is the threshold for a vendor to not be held to its offer?

    I emailed the support team to ask them to reactivate my free subscription. The dude says voucher code did not come from Kayo or Binge. They will be investigating where these codes came from so they can provide proper actions to whoever is accountable for releasing these codes.

    Interesting, the codes seem to have started on a reddit AFL forum yesterday and then rapidly spread from there.

    Quite a few of posters cranky that it ended up on Ozbargain 😆. Though by that stage it was all over twitter and other forums anyway.

    • I dont blame them, once it gets on Ozbargain, all the non members / lurkers just swoop in and destroy any chance of the deal sticking. So if it did start elsewhere and they were hoping to keep the deal, i can understand their frustration. Same thing happened to some wine deals i remember which started elsewhere and were going along fine till it came on Ozbargain and got completely destroyed.

        • Binge 1.1.1 apk works on my 4k max. Only issue is the icon shows blank image. Doesn't show the binge icon, but it works. The kodi option below is another way, which I have working on a old firestick lite or basic edition.

            • @Tarinedier: Just updating in case anyone else was having trouble: I sideloaded a different appstore called "Aptoide" on my Firestick, and I installed Binge from there and its working without issue (except the icon).

  • I was a Binge customer already. I got 12 months added with the offer. I also signed up for Kayo (new customer) and got 12 months. Neither offer has been revoked (yet). I also signed up to Flash, but when I log in it says I'm not a paid subscriber and sends me to the payment page. 2/3 (for now) ain't bad

    Nothing canceled here. Watching movie after movie. Just watched don’t breathe 2. However I cannot see any details if I go to manage account. I’m not concerned getting anything charged because I’m a new customer and haven’t provided any payment details or credit card. I just used the voucher…

    Mine is still working but I get the 'IN_PROGRESS_ARES' error when I click on account. If they do charge me, there's no way I can cancel my sub anymore.

  • I got an email from Binge saying "Unfortunately, we weren’t able to complete your subscription yet because we couldn’t process your payment."
