[SUBS, Prime] Longlegs (2024) Movie Streaming @ Prime Video

130

it’s more Mystery Thriller than Horror imo. nothing more needs to be said.

but I loved this movie I rented it for $2.99 watched it twice in 48 hours and if I was on Prime this month I would watch it again. yes I know some users hated my subjective thought my movie preferences were terrible but it’s honestly in my top fav movies.

this was peak N___ C____ for me. (NO SPOILERS) and that’s including the horrible job Alva monologue.
(if you are going to look up the clip please don’t, watch the movie instead you need to watch everything before the clip for maximum effect)

  • if you dont have a prime subscription, grab some popcorn anyway…and watch the "streaming additions are not a real deal" brigade!

good flick, definitetly overhyped, but a good flick nonetheless that warrants a second viewing soon after.

      brigade!

      what’s a brigade?

      oh a subdivision. okay.

      • yes

        • by the way regarding overhyped. I think the trailer was meant to troll and mislead a bit into making you think it was another cheap scare with a horror vibe.

I was interested either way but was pleasantly surprised it was much much better than I was expecting. so I would say under hyped! I loved it!

          • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: e.g. it was compared to silence of the lambs at lead up & release

ok didn’t know that. pretty much completely different movies though I enjoyed Silence of the lambs as well. but yeah one is typical serial killer detective movie without any paranormal stuff.

    • [subs] a.k.a. "I liked this movie and I want to tell everyone about it"

  • Don't think I'll be watching this, I hate spiders.

    • +2

there aren’t any spiders or anything like that at all.

I think you also were trolled by the trailer a bit like I was. thought there was going to be some long legged situation but it isn’t.

The first half of this movie is absolutely brilliant. All kinds of good setups with the mystery, almost paranormal elements, decyphering the code, creepy scenes that linger with the camera shots. I'm not sure who would think that its a horror, its basically advertised as a newer silence of the lambs, so a serial killer thriller all the way.

What a shame that none of those setups actually follow through or even matter in the end. Its like the screen writer only had the first half of the script and a teenager decided to do the last half. What a shame! I still enjoyed it for the most part but wow it was looking like the best movie I've seen in years (at least a decade). Then the situations become contrived and nothing really comes together the way it was setup previously. Ending is a bit batsh*t crazy but no problem for me. Its the other parts that they completely ignored in the earlier scenes, so its almost like there was no point in even filming them anyway. Its definitely worth a watch but this does seem to happen a lot these days. Movie is setup nicely in the first half but can't sustain it or follow through on the premise for the entire movie.

not sure if we watched the same trailer. I think it was the early one, to me made it seem like FBI agent was being haunted by a long legged (not revealed as usual because spoiler) and creepy entity which was going to follow her around everywhere. so thought it was going to be the typical kind of cheaper scare with creature revealed towards the end. so I wasn't expecting anything like Silence of the lambs.

    Mummmyyyyyy Daddyyyyyy

My review - Good movie but slightly overrated. Some classic Nicholas Cage acting though

  • Haha I saw this at the cinema not knowing anything about it.

  • This is in my top 3 films of the year.

Don't expect horror (it's a thriller through and through) and don't even watch the trailer. You'll enjoy it better going in blind.

It's more akin to Se7en then anything else people commonly compare it to, but it's still very much it's own thing.

  • Good cinematography with this one.

  • SPOILER

lady dressed as a nurse does the devils bidding by taking a doll created by Satan to different families houses. Each doll is modelled after the girl she'll be giving it to, on their birthday. Satan or the devil can use his influence from within the doll, to have the husband/dad kill the entire family.

Now as to why the nurse is doing this? In exchange for her daughters life. The devil ran into the girl when she was younger, her mother said she'd do anything if he didn't harm her daughter. Ipso facto, delivering dolls that convince fathers to massacre their wife and daughter. Oh, also, the girl that was protected by the nurse mother doing the bidding is working for the FBI and is on the case, investigating why these murders are happening.

I think at the end she finds a doll that was designed to look like her too, she destroys it or something and frees herself from his hold. Cut to a different lady dressed as nurse doing the same thing somewhere else. Spooky, the devil has his minions working everywhere.

Add some effects, strobing lights and an eery atmosphere.

It's lukewarm ok, it's really not that deep, and not scary like the promotions made it out to be. Watch shutter Island again if you want thriller.
