Prices are dropping continuously…..should hodl until 40 series come.
Hodl until 50 series.
Got excited, thought was 12gb version
$1249 is the new 3080 12G price :)
And as soon as I see one I’m going to finally pull the trigger
+1 let me know mate so I don't miss out :D
@[Deactivated]: You're not going to miss out, as soon as the 40 series come out in September, $1249 will be overpriced for a 12gb 3080.
@Magik: Will Nvidia sell the 40xx series at bargain price to make you happy? I doubt it.
@[Deactivated]: End of the year, 1249 for the 3080 12gb will be the new RRP, as long as Etherium proof of stake takes place.
@Magik: Any thoughts on what the 12gb 3080s will drop down to? Just weighing whether I can wait that long…. (upgrading from 1070)
@Magik: Don't forget this is exactly what people thought when 30 series were launched. You could pick up a 2080ti for 700 bucks on marketplace/scumtree which at the time seemed like a joke but ended up being a ridiculously good deal for the buyer and a ridiculously bad one for the seller.
Not as cheap as the Afterpay day sale - was $1149 then, still a good price.
You need Afterpay back then to buy it, which many don't have or don't like.
are they still making 10gb 3080's or have sellers just been sitting on stock?
https://www.bpctech.com.au/catalog/product/view/id/39255/ why get this instead? looks like its a better card for around similar price
What makes it better mate?
That's the original/gen 1 ventus, ventus plus is the revised model.
The board is good but the cooler is crap, at stock it actually performs worse than other 3080s in time spy (16k or so, 17.5k for FE and 17-18k for other AIB 3080s, 10% difference) whereas the ventus or even other 2-slots like the FE perform a good bit better. It's also quite loud. I would only get the xc3 if waterblocking or manually tweaking the VF curve.
ETA yesterday?
HODL !!!!
Chinese market which is a leading indicator is having 3080ti for the price of 1280 aud.
I am confident oz price still has some way to drop.
Link?
These numbers are from the latest Hardware Unboxed 12 game average benchmarks for 2022 (https://youtu.be/oBDFtJ4lR2c?t=463). It doesn't take into consideration Ray Tracing, DLSS, etc I am aware 3k res isn't a thing, but I averaged the 1440p and 4k resolution performance stats. I personally run a 1440p ultrawide, so 3k is about right for me.

RMH, great table, do you keep an updated copy of the full table online somewhere? By full table, I'm pretty sure you've done something similar for the lower end cards too. Cheers
hey Sh4z, I have a separate table for the 1080p cards (excluding the 6600xt) yeah, I don't tend to post if often though (ref - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12025793/redir). I have it in Excel with charts and it's a mess, not something I keep updated online.
Ok, Thanks!
still not good enough considering it's LHR. worst resale value in 5 years time.
same for all the asrock/coloful/ventus cards people are buying now. Retailers offloading the least desirable models first because demand is high.
Doesn't LHR just mean it hasn't been used for mining?
Nice 👍😁
This or 6900 XT?
My dilema
I went with the 6900XT. Sure I could have saved money getting this but you are getting near 3090 performance. Decide if DLSS and Ray Tracing are that important to you. Get this if you want those two.
Which games heavily uses DLSS and RT?
Back in stock ETA 30/04.
Those prices are looking promising!
