Hyundai 2.6kW Inverter Smart Split System Air Conditioner (Reverse Cycle) $549 ($529 with Kogan First) + Free Delivery @ Kogan

60
FREESHIP

This was $600 in January. Now it is down to the mid to low 500s.

Use code "FREESHIP" for free shipping (it's big and heavy, so that can easily be $40-50+ off). The free shipping promotion ends this Friday.

Not necessarily the absolute best air conditioner, but still excellent value.

Use with discounted Kogan gift cards to save more.

Kogan's installation contract with Zwecks must have expired or something, because this is out of stock.

You'll have to source your own installer (make sure they're certified at the very least). Now is the best time to hunt for prices, since it's the transition period between summer and winter (for the southern parts of the country, at least).

    Dimensions Indoor Unit: 820 x 306 x 195mm | Outdoor Unit: 795 x 305 x 549mm
Mounting Clearance Minimum 20cm to ceiling; 13cm to left/right wall; 250cm to the floor

Not for people with lower than 3m ceilings. Need to be 250cm off the floop + 30cm for the unit, +20 cm from unit to ceiling.

      Excellent callout.

Then if you have such high ceilings I suspect this unit is too small for most rooms.

If you get it installed into a room of the wrong dimensions, they may revise warranty claims as they'll say the machine was installed incorrectly or over worked

      • That info is probably wrong but nuts if they try to pass it off to deny warranty.

I checked on the energy star website. Hyundai units cost $5k to run (3000 post code) over 10 years. Apparently most efficient Mitsubishi / Daikin / Carrier units are $2.8k over 10 years. The units are not energy star rated. There are Mitsubishi and Daikin units that are also unrated.

  • Is it off topic to ask for AC installer recommendations, north Melbourne?

    • ditto for Brisbane, if allowed

  • Only $50 more for the 3.5kW version, if you have a bigger room or more windows.

I've DIY installed a few split systems, but heard a lot of horror stories of people who did it, but failed a few months later due to leaks. You need to be a bit paranoid in testing your joins before releasing the gas.

The wifi control is nice on cold mornings. I can tell google/alexa to warm the kitchen before I get out from under the doona.
