  • Yes they’re a few years old but these Lenovos have a much better build quality and specs than anything you’ll find new around this price new.

    • +2

Sure. But these specs are available new for $850ish or even better specs $900 (16gb, 512gb, amazon US). With a new battery.

I certainly wouldn't pay more than $600. I'd bite at $500 for my kid.

      • +1

This is a Thinkpad, not your average Lenovo Flex 5 (or similar laptop) that’s going to break within the warranty period. There’s a reason why these are really expensive when brand new.

        • +1

These are not new. These are 8th gen with same ram/hdd as the flex. I think the price I've suggested more than accounts for build quality differences.

          • @justtoreply: Battery replacement should be easy but yeah a truly refurbished laptop should have a new battery - and they mostly never do

  • +3

Do you have any with 16GB RAM?

    • Unfortunately, we do not :(

      • Can the ram be upgraded, or is it soldered in?

        • +1

The description says "soldered", so I'm guessing it's soldered.

          • @clintdb: Usually there an extra slot tho???

            • @Gavman: Possibly Gavman, I'm not sure.
I was just answering the question that Faikwo asked.

            • +3

@Gavman: I use one of these for work and the RAM is unable to be upgraded

  • +3

I read your website that your refurbed computers are hand picked. Just to understand though, what are the conditions of these laptops? Being a touch screen, would there be any scratches ? Thanks.

    • +1

This recent batch has been fantastic so far. They may have a small mark on the casing on some of them, but the majority of them are in superb condition.

    • Better if the price was $450

  • Hey OP, any chance of a bit more history where the batch has come from….education, office, building site (gives an idea of previous use).
How old is the oldest - newest you could receive?

    • +1

      I’d take a stab and guess it’s ex-gov or a multinational if it’s a bulk fleet buy

  • can you please confirm the original brand stylus is included and the battery condition? thanks.

    • +2

They all come with the original stylus. As for the battery, we test them all and replace any if they are under 85% of its life.

      • Any guess of how many hours on you’d get with a charge.

Are they pretty good in terms of looks, no big marks, screen perfect?

  • +3

Keep in mind, this is an X1 series Lenovo. X1 Lenovo laptops are their premium builds, and will outlast other new laptops of the same price range. I owned an X1 Carbon for 3.5 years and it was excellent. I miss that laptop and will look into buying another ThinkPad in the future due to how solid that laptop was. This is an 8th gen Intel CPU (very outdated), but as far as the build goes, you're getting a premium laptop here.

    • I have a gen 3 x1 yoga. I have to agree on the build quality. It is solid.

      • Totally agree. I have a 6 year old Thinkpad Yoga 370 that has been used daily at school and the only issue is reduced battery life.
I also have an Thinkpad Yoga X1 that is 3 years old and that is in perfect order.

One of the nice features is that the chassis has a spot for the pen.

Tempted to buy this, but would prefer 16GB.

    • this is a flagship like product. Although the CPU is not too bad, the RAM would be. 8GB will be not enough for Chrome multi-tabs.

      • This is definitely a flagship product. The caveat is that it's an outdated flagship, nevertheless, still premium in terms of build quality and durability.

        • I'm using Lenovo laptop for 10 years, it droped many times and still working in general. THe build quality is great and durable, but the spec is going to out of date. This is better CPU, but RAM is out of date and too low.

          • @ntt: Good to know. The RAM is low on this laptop. 16GB is perfect right now, anything lower is unreasonable

            • @Zackeroo: just add 8gb more ram.. would cost less than 100 Edit: might not have a slot in which case 8gb is max.. poor limitation, probably why they have so many sent back.

              • @Gavman: Just like my X1 Carbon, the RAM is soldered. You can't add another 8GB, you're stuck with what you buy :(

    • just replaced daughters brand new (last year) cheaper lenovo which ended up with hardware issues with an x1 carbon refurb running windows 11 off ebay $499 and yep it's night and day, just holding each in your hand is night and day before you even open it to see the screen differences, typing, etc etc.

  • I can't seem to see anything that indicates condition? Feels like a massive omission for a refurb?

  • Hi Op.. Does the price include postage (Melb metro) and comes with tax invoice? Thanks.

    • We do free shipping Australia wide! Yes you'll get a tax invoice along with your purchase.

  • +2

Great laptop; just worried about the RAM.

  • 8th gen intel on ddr3 ?

  • +9

I respect anyone that posts a laptop deal on this site. There seems to be a group of people who sit in the background, ready to tear any machine to shreds.

    • Yep, nits or RAM or Gen or build or brand or 'I had one…'

  • Hi OP. Does this have 4G LTE connectivity (just needs a nano sim)?

    • It mentioned nano-sim, so maybe?

      • Thanks. I noted that but wanted to confirm it is the 4g LTE model.

        • +2

If the gen 3 x1 yoga i bought is anything to go by. The sim slot is there but the lte modem is not. But you can buy that from ebay and to install it on the gen 4 is easier.

The gen 3 requires you to disassemble the screen and laptop body also.

Source: i installed an lte modem on my gen 3 x1 yoga.

          • @xoom: Thanks that is what I feared. Appreciate your comment.

    • +1

info from Levono website: WWAN: Fibocom L860-GL 4G LTE-A

      so, it should be 4G

      • Thanks. Specs online I have seen say it is optional on this model so would be handy if the OP could confirm if that option is installed in these.

        • +2

Hi Lochie, just went through a bunch of them and so far they all have an LTE-A card in them :)

          • @RecomputeAus: Thanks. If I was to order can I note that somewhere in the order?

          • @RecomputeAus: Hi, the code no longer work, can we still get the discount.

            Thanks

          • @RecomputeAus: Hi, was trying to buy but out of stock. Please kindly share the deal next time when have something good. Appreciate.

            • @cai76: It is still in stock but the discount code has expired.

  • I have this but with 16gb from work. Nice build quality, and much quieter than my Dell latitude 7390 which has an 8350u. Hadn't had issues with 8gb for chrome on my Dell.

Though seems your can better specs for not mu h more if you sacrifice build quality

  • How to upgrade the SSD or there is an option to pay more for the upgrade?

Does it has an extra slot for the SSD?

  • Feels about $100 too much for an otherwise decent machine for a Linux distro.

  • Seems an ok price.
The new Gen5 that has 10th gen intel i5 (and 16GB ram) is $999 so around $400 more unless I read wrong.
    https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpadx1/x…

So am I better to save $400 with this or get 16GB new for more $?

    • You have linked to the US site, so those prices are a little different.

      • I was just editing my comment.
Yep. Looks like I had the US store, Australian store the yoga X1 is nearly $3k!

  • What would the battery life be in these now? Would you get 8 hours of normal use (browser/office)?

And do they come with any of Lenovo built in software (can you download the software if you need)?

  • Just tried to buy however the code doesn't work. :(

  • Code has expired with 2 days left.

The gift certificate or coupon code is invalid

  • Hi @RecomputeAus, Any more stock on Yoga or any deal on this Dell Latitude 12 7280 12.5" - Intel Core i5-6200U, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD?
