  • good deal or not?

    • +1

only thing i'd consider is the battery size as it's on the small side, obviously to keep it's weight down to the 1kg range.

    • -1

There have been better deals IMO… Eg this one:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/886250

This HP is lighter and smaller. The other one is slightly larger and heavier, but more powerful processor and arguably better screen (OLED and higher resolution), while being cheaper. Same RAM and storage.

  • I'm ultrabook hunting at the moment so this defo peaked my interest. Is 43Wh too small? Rtings' review says I'd get a reasonable day's battery out of it, but I'd be keen on hearing any long term usage reviews

    • +1

Rtings definition of all-day is one that has enough battery life to last a full work day or schoolday.

Battery Life (Video Playback) 8.4 hrs
Battery Life (Web Browsing) 10.0 hrs
(if you believe in their testing methodology).

that's not terrible considering the laptop only costs $999. But if we ignore pricing there are laptops with up to 75 watt hours in a 13 inch form factor, such as MSI Prestige EVO A1m. The 13" M2 Macbooks have 58.2 whr batteries.

You can also use power banks to charge the laptop, although you might need to buy one that has at least 65w output. Example

Superb price and performance for the money…….
if only it allowed 32Gig, i'd be all over it

  • Bought this one last year from black friday special. I'm amazed by how handy and light-weight this model is.
Worth paying $100 extra for the WQXGA 2560x1600 model

  • I've been close to jumping on this, and similar laptops - but the lack of USB4 really kills this particular model for me personally.
    Good price though OP!

  • How are build quality of HP vs Lenovo.

    • It's lower tier since the Pavillion series are mid-range consumer grade devices. So same tier as Dell XPS / Lenovo IdeaPad but not on the same tier as Hp Elitebook Folio / Thinkpad X series.

    • Workplace is using all HP desktop. Such a pain in the assss. I will NEVER EVER touch anything of HP after work. So much headache!

  • is OP the alter ego of Look Up?

  • Hinge Problems

  • Any issues running this docked and in clam shell mode? Always paranoid the laptop will cook itself if it also cools via venting via keyboard.

No gaming. Just browsing and rdp into my work and home pc’s.
