Acer Swift Go EVO 14" OLED Core Ultra 5-125H/16GB/512GB $898 (+ $89.80 Gift Card) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Harvey Norman

130

For today only, "Bonus 10% in Gift Cards when you spend $250 or more* Ends 11:59PM AEDT 26/12/24"

So, brings down the original price $898 to $808.

I've been questioning this over the Thinkpad E14 Gen 6 Intel $850 (including the 15% cashback.

But the Acer won out as it has a more powerful chipset (125U vs 125H) and better gaming potential. I just hope it will last as long as the Thinkpad.

    good spec for the price

    • I agree especially with the gift card.

  • +20

$808 is not the price, $898 is the price

  • How do you apply the gift card instantly?

    • Probably cannot… and you need to find something else to buy with the gift card…. which Probably overpriced stuffs you dont really need… so the 100$ value is more like $70

      • Maybe return the laptop (unopened) when you get the gift card and buy one again?

        • If they allow that imagine what will happen….

          • @CyberMurning: Or you buy something with gift card and return it unopened. That way you get a new gift card with a way longer expiry.

            • @sixsense: Why not just having ability to print own money…
Oh wait we have… bitcoin mining…

Skip all Intel 13th and 14th laptops on the Swift Go Evo chassis unless you like overheating issues

AMD Ryzen is OK and even though they have only been out for a few months, Intel Lunar Lake should be OK with the lower TDP

  • Really want officework to price match this but it seems they won't.

    • Price match $898 or $808?

      • -3

Price match $808, Actually I just checked officework website, they don't have OLED Core Ultra 5,they only had AMD Ryzen for $927 or $807 for Core Ultra 5 but IPS touch screen.

        • I reckon for Swift go only officework and HN selling it. Their SKUs could offen split.

    • that prob one of MSI next shitest grade product besides their 'thin' series, i would say don't bother for even $1500!

      • Ok thanks
Thought Msi was a decent brand

        • Nope i have thin series and the only thin there is the quality

          • @CyberMurning: Was thinking this was good having a 4060 etc for some gaming

I have a ps5 and XSX so thought I could use this to play the free games I get on epic GOG steam etc rather then a PC handheld like a ROG Ally X, MSI Claw

Then again I don’t know much about PC gaming

Thanks OP, I purchased one for my son who needs it for school next year.

    • good luck to him. I've bought one for myself and have received the HN voucher via email. I hope it lasts me at least 5 years as a (frugal minded) IT professional.

To me, this represents a very good value considering the screen resolution, size and weight, and especially the chipset. The ram is acceptable for this price.

      • Hey mate thanks for info, I did not receive my gift card yet my order is back ordered as it seems they ran out of stock.

Did you receive your laptop already or have been allocated a stock?

Im also in IT, so this was a good balance of spec to price ratio in my eyes

        • My laptop is apparently on its way - i got an aus post tracking number via an email from HN.

How did you know yours is back ordered?

(And if you don't mind, what laptop would you get as an IT professional? If money was no object i'd probably be looking at a macbook but I also prefer Windows)

@smartProverble: I got an email from them saying due to stock shortage mine is back ordered. I also chose to pick up my laptop from my local store, I emailed them back today and I actually just had a call from them and they advised I will get the gift card when I pick up my order, eta next week.

At my workplace we get given laptops its either Dell or HP branded, after 4 years we get a new one(or earlier if it has issues). This year I got a HP EliteBook 640 14 inch G10.

    • Has your son received the new laptop yet?

I did and am quite happy, but there is a weird warp at the centre of the screen that makes your head reflection very big… A bit hilarious, but also seems normal as the display model at the store has the same thing.

Btw I am still waiting for my order…I've called multiple
times, they told me mid Jan

    • Good luck, hope you get it soon.

I got mine within a week. It's honestly great. Weird warped reflection on the glossy screen that elongated your face, hilarious, but doesn't seem like a fault as the display model also has this in the store.

ah I received mine couple days after the post above.

I don't have any screen gloss issues.
The latest intel GPU drivers when I watch movies sometime cause artifact, roll back to previous version fixed the issue.
Small nitpick will be the fans kind of loud, the cpu temp hovers around 60-70 degrees.
It is my Son's school laptop so not a big concern for me, Next laptop will definitely be AMD. Intel has dropped the ball recently on their products
