  • Got one at HN on boxing day. Great washing machines. I managed to haggle another $50 off via the HN online chat back then for $950.

You might find they are made in Turkey or China …

Had one made in Germany, paid extra for it, but it didn't last any longer anyway

We bought the Series 6 WAT28620AU. 8kg and i-DOS (auto dosing). A bit smaller than the one hereabove. Seems efficient and quiet. Using very modest amounts of detergent. Runs off a cold tap only. Turkish assembly.

      • +1

Did you change the detergent dosing amount? I've had mine for about a year but I'm still trying to work out the ideal dosage. Currently sitting on 25mL.

I find the machine doesn't rinse as well as my old Samsung and the washing performance is average with SpeedPerfect enabled.

        • +1

Yes! Melbourne water is soft - so we pretty much halved the 'standard'. I assume that they shoot high because 'hard' water will not give a decent result with insufficient detergent. We've had ours for just over six months without complaint. Actually, there is a minor one: It doesn't seem to rinse as well as we would like when also dosing with fabric softener - but we do that rarely.

        • +2

I've got my dosing on 40ml with Aldi Sensitive liquid. Normally at 40ml I have no issues with the wash or rinse. If you are using SpeedPerfect I recommend using 30c water, even for cold garments only. Just gives it a little more temperature to remove excess dirt. I use cold/20c for an EcoPerfect wash. I'd say filling my detergent once a month (1300ml) and I'm doing 22-28 loads a week! I'm on 26 this week Monday to Sunday. 🤯

    • Yea, I know the only ones are the Serie 8 made in Germany but was at least 500 more than this on sale ..
The Serie 6 are assembled in Turkey AFAIK..

      • +1

Yeah I've got the 9kg series 8 washing machine and it's made in Germany. The matching series 8 dryer is made in Poland though.

    • +2

Mine is made in China, 7 years now so far so good.

  • +1

Pretty solid, I think I'd still go for the WGA244U0AU which is $100 less, the 9kg unit, it is about 13% more efficient and the same series, running cost difference would probably only be because it is a smaller unit (or vice versa this is a bigger one) and we're talking $6-10 more, a year, on a standard cycle though so.

  • I am after a 10-12 kg top loader machine. Any leads.

  • +2

Can someone who has one of these tell me the real world cycle time for a full load? Manufacturers never seem to want to make this obvious, only advertising the express cycle time for a few kilos of washing.

    • Agree. 3hrs for a wash is ridiculous

    • All depends on what type of wash you run, the temperature, on speed perfect or eco perfect, how many kgs is the load… take a look at the manual, there should be a table in there on wash times.

  • +1

my 9kg bosch classixx going strong after 12 years - we do about 10 loads a week!

I always laugh when I see appliance deal like this.. you don’t have to wait for a sale price, if you know how to bargain and get them to price beat each other, you get good price any day. I got mine series 8 WAW28640AU for $1.2k 2 yr ago.
The idea is, if they are dead convinced that you can get a good and possible price at other place and they will lose a sale from you, they will want to at least match price. I normally use ozbargain and product reviews website to work out that possible low price

    • +4

So you do wait for a sale price then..to work out that possible low price.

    • +1

But the Samsung one yesterday was great, discount stacked with 15% cashback from Shopback - I don't think Bing Lee would be willing to sell me the same machine @ approx $850 shipped

    • Or buy on gumtree. Bought my series 8 a few years ago for about $600-700, can't recall, just after my old washing machine died. Had a look on gumtree and just got lucky. Only 1 yrs old. Was able to lift and slide into my wagon and trolley into the laundry. A bit of work and hassle but when you are running out of clean clothes it doesn't matter.

I bought a 9KG series 8 non-iDos model (Made in Germany) for $1050 delivered and installed from E&S. Was listed for around $1400.

A quick chat on their website and they were happy to pricematch my imaginary $1050 from HN. Should have said $1000 🙄

    • Do they not check the websites that they're price matching?

      • They didn't in my case. The lady on the chat said she's happy to pricematch and then called to finalise the order.

        • You should have said $750

  • Any German made models that are equivalent?

Pity series 8 not on sale

    • +1

Look at AEG, you also get 5yr warranty instead of 2

  • +3

And 10KG is only for 'Cottons' setting - for most common settings that you'll use, the capacity will be considerably less (2-4/5 kg).

    • Yes , I didn't realise this until 2 weeks after I started using it .

    • Most of the machines that advertise max capacity are usually only 1 featured cycle… I just use that cycle for most types of washing regardless and adjust the time and temp (except wools and delicates)

  • appliance online ebay WAW28620AU with 100 ebay voucher comes to 1407 not the best price but german made and with idos. Free delivery and install too chose that over the samsung and this.

    • Are these in stock in Australia? I ordered from TGG like 2 months ago and it's still on back order

      • Should be in stock. Check with TGG

      • I got the 10kg fromGGs, Coffs Harbour. Said only 1 floor stock on website, but they brought me out one still in a box.. They had a serie 8 on the floor also but said was not available on web site…Think their inventory online is a bit out of whack, give them a call

Bought this a few days ago.

Take an extra $50 off at Bing Lee eBay with code - INTSNS

Take $100 off with same code by adding an eligible product as you need to spend $1000. I added a $5 SUNBEAM LIQUID DESCALER KE0100.

Pair with Shopback eBay gift card 3%.

I paid $969 delivered ($65 delivery fee), not including the gift card 3%.

Personal experience stat away from auto dosing machines as they are still being tweaked to get max performance, especially if you do not use them regularly they clog up and end up creating errors.

In terms of kg capacity ratings, take it with a pinch of salt, the drum sizes are same for defending on the brand same for 8,8.5,9 and even 10kgs. They play with the energy ratings to get the highest rating. Check drum sizes for bigger kg capacity should be at least 80 lts to get a proper 10 kg load or higher.

    • +1

      80?

      • +2

Standard drums 7 to 9kgs are around 60lts capacity, proper 10kg capacity should have a drum with at least 80lts water volume capacity.

    • Yeah I own this and it actually seems smaller than the Series 8 8kg dryer
