Got the text and email from optus saying delivery is on the way and you'll receive the message from the delivery partner soon. Nothing changed when tracked the order in app, still submitted and pending. Order was placed on 12:04 am on Sunday.

Honestly most people here didn't even really want the tablet, it was just that much of an enticing deal when paired with the data allocation. So yeah, I foresee the scalpers failing. The only bigger fail would be if someone actually were to buy one of these from a scalper.
I put myself in that category, and I won't be ranting if I don't end up getting one delivered. The cashback component coming through would put this into the "epic deal" category for me. Effectively a free tablet.
As to their marketability on Gumtree etc, I'm really not sure. They're not the "desirable" iPads, and not even high-end offerings by Samsung it seems. They'll sell if priced well, but I'm not sure how much demand there is to absorb the supply of dozens (potentially) of new listings.
Samsungs being Andriod tablets, demand defs ain't there. a normally $300 tablet that at one point was like $190 on Amazon sale.

Yet it's no iPad, so I'm hesitant on the demand, even selling for 400 or less, will there be many biters? It's not the S series tablet so missing that active pen supporter even the basic 2020 iPad has.

I had one left at my door by Auspost and another delivered by Startrack today that wanted photo ID.
Unit itself is nice although I wish the screen was a bit more vibrant.

Ordered 23/04 close to midnight (64gb), didn’t make any follow up with Optus, but finally got an sms and email advising that delivery is on the way, and message from delivery partner should be received soon. Good luck to everyone else who ordered the tablet. I think we should just wait, it is obvious they are working on the backlog at the moment (understand the frustration with the randomness of people who advised they have received their tablets (i.e., the order timing)).

sorry to say but the time when you ordered has pretty much nothing to do. I ordered on 26th 7pm got it today 28th at 8am. so please talk to optus chat and try to push your order confirmation through (or atleast make sure the order confirmation happens asap so that you join the backorder queue asap) . thats what a lot of people on here also did.

Thing is, most people who were first in are still waiting to even receive shipping confirmation whilst others who ordered days later are saying that they have their tablets in their hands. Seems like Optus are just picking orders out of a hat to fulfil them.
Yeah but I reckon it's not cricket to gloat or rub it in the face of others who missed out, especially if you bought multiple and especially x 3 if you bought multiple just to resell/make a profit. I would just keep it to myself.

@John Kimble: Definitely can receive SMS - I had to check an SMS from Optus as part of the Optus Sport sign up process.
I thought you can call/sms but as its not included in the plan its extra charge.

So after being told last night over live chat that I would not receive the tablet, I received a text and email this afternoon saying my order is ready for delivery. Now to wait and see what actually arrives.

i just discovered i can receive sms messages using the mobile broadband service number. sending messages doesn't appear to be supported. always good to have another number for sms verifications

Not overly impressed with the tablet. Screen is meh. Spent whole day installing update after update lol. Lags even when scrolling through apps on google play. Don’t be to upset you don’t get one.
I actually think its pretty good for daily usability, no lag from it yet. and only 2 updates took less than 10 minutes to do. it might be a bit slow but im pretty impressed tbh. viewing angles on the screen is average though
I think maybe my expectations were a bit high, wasn’t this a $500 tablet? I had 4 updates to do. Certainly is lagging when scrolling even being a fresh install.

i wouldn't feel comfortable about someone else using a data plan under my name. might end up being used for crime or illegal activity and you will have the cops banging on your door
If you say so. I’m not the least bit worried. It’s up to the shelter to hand them out to whomever they want. And then it’s up to the recipient to decide the best use of an asset — if this means selling it then I’m not about to judge a person in need

When i played at a dsiplay instore I found that the screen was lacking in brightness. Also it was on the blue hue side as opposed to warm. Is there a software toggle that you can try to make it natural colour?
Not that I can see. It's definitely a cooler colour and looks less appealing
It does have a night mode that makes the screen a bit yellow tinted, but brightness is actually pretty good.
Maybe because I'm used to iPhone iPad brightness and colours
