This one started today, but I went into my Optus App to get it and there was a 50% off data sim offer that stacked with the $0 Tablet.

Has to be 30gb data plan or above.

So my deal was

$12.50 x 12 Months
Tab A8 64gb 4G
30 GB Data added to my data pool
$150 total cost.

    • Notification through email or SMS?

      • Both I just got notification. Ordered 23

        • Thanks I ordered 24th so not optimistic.

        • Same…

  • +3

Mine just arrived (VIC), ordered 10PM on the 23rd

    • Is the tablet locked to Optus network?

      • +1

No non-prepaid devices have been locked for probably 15 years at least.

    • Ordered around this time as well. Have not heard since. Optus app saying order status submitted and nothing on delivery. Did you receive further sms or email?

      • Mine said the same. I got the SMS yesterday. I checked my AusPost app yesterday and it said delivery scheduled for today.

    • I’m also from VIC, ordered 7pm on the 23rd. Existing Optus customer. Received nothing.

  • But you don't have to worry you will receive it as soon as it is back in stock.
Don't worry it's already in the queue.
You just have to wait for couple of day's.

  • I ordered Monday, (128gb) so not hopeful at all.
Still not cancelled, but it's been a holiday so expecting at some point to get email saying it's cancelled.

  • Is there any alternate sim card for calling as this would be only data sim and don't want to loose my number

  • Australia Post tracking says that the tablet is being delivered tomorrow, in Brisbane. I ordered Saturday 4.00 pm

    • Yeah same, was originally today but has changed to tomorrow.

      • same, my tablet was supposed to be delivered today but pushed to tomorrow

  • On the star track site, my delivery is "in transit" from Sydney to Sunshine Coast. Due for delivery today.

No text or email to say it had shipped. Did get an email and text with it was "ready for delivery".

Track my order App shows Submitted and Pending.

Ordered 128GB on 12 month plan at 6:10pm on Saturday (QLD).

Process not quite how Optus have listed.

I wonder how many people ordered in commercial quantity and reselling on scumtree, fleabay and fakebook.

  • +1

Mine just got delivered - Melbourne, ordered just before 5pm 23rd. SIM and Tablet

    • dang i ordered 6pm, no sms :(

only a matte of time i guess

      • +1

I didn't get an SMS either. Just the 'Your order is on the way' email yesterday, then notification from Aupost app last night saying I have a delivery coming.

  • I think it's bs that they're not allocating stock in chronological order. I'm being told my 2nd order is out of stock when it was placed 2 minutes after my partner's order. Why do people who ordered after me deserve to get their order at the expense of me missing out?

    • +4

Depends on your location? Different states, different warehouse maybe?

You at least got one ordered. Some people here couldn't order any.

      • -3

We're in WA and it's coming from Sydney so why should that matter? I placed my order before x person and I deserve to have stock allocated to me before x person regardless of where in the country I am. Optus warehouses are Optus warehouses, they all share the same stock.

        • In an ideal world…. Yes…. But clearly no, so many others ordered after me already received it (Vic, NSW)….
          Mine is still pending.

          • -1

            @edgar28:

            In an ideal world….

This explains so many of life's injustices haha

        • If they can only freight 100 units from Sydney to Perth (for example), and you're allocated the 101st unit, you won't get yours today.

But if they can freight 200 units from Sydney to Melbourne, then the 101st Melbourne order gets fulfilled.

          So it matters.

    • Did you order on Saturday or Sunday?

      • I ordered on Saturday within an hour of the deal being posted.

        • Yeah that is harsh, I am in the same position.

          • @Fabio08: Especially when people like the one below who ordered last night got their order through before ours… It's hard to not get salty.

            • @cheekymonkey97: I placed 3x orders on Saturday, maybe 1 and a half hours after the deal went up, all 3 say "submitted" and nothing since - just gotta wait and see when they ship them. That's for 2x 32gb and 1x 64g model.

                • @jamba: Yeah I noticed after I rushed the orders through (thinking it was a pricing error) that there was the option to select more storage - mistakes were made! but one's going to my mother in law who will use it purely for watching her shows on netflix and the other I'm thinking of having as a dedicated device to control the house so no great loss other than missing out on a better deal.

              • @MrKnowItAll: After a back and forth blame game with one of the optus team via chat they approved one of the orders! They said there was a missing detail on the account and none passed credit check and then tried to say I should have called them on Saturday after I place the order!? Told them how disappointed I was in them and how they should contact me if there's a problem and they caved, redid the credit check and it's done.. now to wait for stock!

Ordered 64gb on 23/4 @ 3:33 pm. I just received tablet but no sim. Sim still on its way, I’m in launceston.

    • In Launceston too and ordered at 3pm. No updates yet. Were you an existing Optus customer or created a new account?

      • +1

        Yes existing customer

    • Same Launceston, received both. Ordered on 23/4 about 6pm. Used to be with optus so might not have to go through much ID check.

    • Sim still on its way, I’m in launceston.

It's probably stuck at customs. :)

  • +1

Just got mine delivered! Thanks OP :)

    • When did you order it and where are you based?

      • +2

Ordered on the 23rd of April 5:30 PM, I'm in Melbourne.

  • Umm, made a second order 26/04 7:12pm:

Hi MissB, good news. Your mobile broadband order xxxxxxxxxA for 04xxxxxxxx is ready for delivery and will be delivered shortly to: <address> Australia. You'll receive a message from our delivery partner, when your order is on its way. You'll need to show the courier your current photo ID and sign for it. If you can't be there, no worries, we'll leave a card with instructions on how to collect your order.

First order, 23/04 11:09pm: No updates

Second order was for a friend who couldn't pass the ID check, but if I only receive one I'll be keeping it, whichever one. Don't want to do another new order, because I don't want to accidentally get 3.

    • +1

How did such a late order come through. Amazing.

      • No idea, I really didn't expect anything to come of it. I just thought I'd add it because it doesn't cost anything if it doesn't go ahead.

      • Warehousing on the device probably.

    • From live chat:

"I just called our warehouse and here is the update:

<26th order number> - for processing and dispatch from warehouse today

<23rd order number> - We are currently out of stock and we can't give a time-frame for delivery, we can place the order and will keep the customer posted. No delivery time frame"

  • Ordered 23/4 8pm
    Just received email that
Your Optus order is on the way.

    Ready to be delivered shortly.

  • Ordered 11pm 23/4, received order number with A at the end, no updates over the weekend, status pending, spoke to chat yesterday who said everything was fine with the order and that I'd get an update soon.
Spoke with chat again just then who said it's now out of stock awaiting restock and that I should wait, but if there's no more to come, could choose a different device no discount or cancel the order
You win some, you lose some I guess

    • +1

Dont cancel just wait it out

      • Ended up receiving it today :)

  • I am confused. I am sure I ordered 12 months plan but the contract says 36 months.

    Is it different than yours?

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/176027/95518/optus.jpg

    • +3

You must select the wrong contract term for the device

    • Just checked mine and it says 12 months as expected where yours says 36 month.

    • Oh no tha’t a long time to be tied in

      • And another 24 instalments of $12.50 going out of pocket.

        • the 50% off is only for 12 months :( back to $25 after that

    • i did the same on 1 order. i called them yesterday and asked them to modify the order before it was shipped. they said there is no need to cancel and back end team would fix it within 24hrs so no cost after 12months. but still no email. its best you call asap and take note of who you speak to just incase. 26 Apr 2022, 12:00 am
Your order has left our warehouse

    • +1

you stuffed up, dont activate it & try to cancel the order, buy one from the flippers on fb for about $300 if you really need it

  • ordered Saturday night at 12.40am (24/4) and got the temporary order email (new customer). Nothing since then. Should I call to follow up or sit tight and hope that I might get lucky and they are just waiting on stock to update my order?

    • +1

If it's still a temporary order number probably best to contact them to get a real order number

      • +1

I suggest that too. I ordered 23/4, but as I was an existing customer "upgrading" it categorised me as a Temporary Order. I jumped on Optus Chat on 25/4 to push it through as a Processed Order, but this has probably pushed me WAY down the list for shipment. But unlike most people here, I am not going to lose sleep about missing out on a tablet that I might use seldomly lol…..

    • Patience have paid off- waited till 5.25 pm tonight before receiving SMS and email to say that my mobile order has progressed and it now has an orderID with a A at the end and I need to confirm my registration sms. I also noticed that Optus has debited 0.01c as CC authorisation on my credit card at the time of order over the weekend.

So for those waiting, have faith it will come through soon for you.

  • +2

Just received mine. Ordered at 6:44pm on 23rd (VIC).

Auspost website updated to be delivered tomorrow but somehow got delivered now and just as I was leaving the house.

    • Lucky you. I ordered 15min after you. Received nothing. Existing Optus customer in VIC.

  • +1

    Ordered 23/4 5pm (Sydney)
    No updates :(

    • +1

No luck for me as well. Seems like Optus is just dispatching in random..
Congrats to those whose device arrived :-)

  • Hi guys, I just placed an order today with a temporary order number.

Live chat isn't pushing it through they're saying I need to do it again.

Any advice on how to get this through? Try again with a different sales rep?

    • How did you place an order if it's out of stock?

      • Was in my cart, showed OOS before but showed available now, so I took the plunge

        • Half price? $12.50/MTH? That's awesome.

I've been seeing the normal price stock goes OOS and back. Didn't know the half price one came back in stock too

          • +1

@avoidfullprice: Yeah kept it in my cart, kept refreshing for days, finally went through. A man of focus, commitment, and sheer f#king will lol

  • +2

One delivered, other is not moving. Maybe it's 1 per person?

    • Customer rep told me this, one approved and the others cancelled. Evidently 1pp

      • +2

If this deal has proved just one thing, it's that chat reps have no idea and seemingly make up facts as they go.

        • I found this out during my chat with them, apparently when the credit department says there's not enough info the order stays "submitted" but can only then be cancelled, there is now way to fill in the blanks and send it back. It was only after I expressed how disappoited I was that they didn't contact me, they said "oh wait, let me try another method" and wouldn't you know it turned out they can re-submit it. What a disaster it is speaking with them.

  • I got the SMS and email notifications to state its out for delivery and that the delivery company will provide tracking info.

I use the order number on the star track tracking page but says the order cannot be located.

I also checked my aus post app and I see nothing.

For those who see tracking details on aus post what does it state and where does it state its coming from? Does it say Optus? I have ordered directly from Samsung recently and was wondering if the delivery I see on the app is the one i ordered from samsumg or the optus.

    • Mine doesn't say where its coming from (other than Sydney). However when I put my order on the Optus startrack tracking page, it shows the same Startrack tracking number, which I assume means it is the correct one.

  • got 1 64gb that was ordered on 23rd other one a 128gb model ordered on 25th cant even be tracked with A order number. anyone know if you can receive and send sms using a optus data sim and if so the cost? its a kids present so i dont want to be hit with sms charges and want to block it.

    • +1

      I don't think they can send… Receiving I think they can…

  • +1

Placed the order at 12:04 am 24/4, contacted the chat rep today, after a long delay, got this massage:

'The order is at Shipment/Delivery Request.
Due to weekend, there is a delay in delivery however please be assured that you will receive it within 2-3 business days'
Second message: 'Optus will make sure their loyal customers get the best services from us, and not getting disappointed again and really regret for the hassle you are facing due to this issue'.
I had optus account but didn't have active service for last one year

  • How long did it take for everyone's cashrewards to track?

    • 3 mins.

  • +1

Wow, I got the tablet delivered just then, I placed my order on Saturday 23rd and I'm an existing Optus customer.

  • Did anyone get cancelation email?

    • No. But got a second email saying my order will be delivered.

      • awesome. Nothing for me I guess.

        • +1

No. My second order is still pending. Looks like Optus is busy fulfilling orders.

O well, worst case scenario, i end up with one for my kid and none for myself.
