      Hi all

      Update:

      Just checking all the email and communications from the Optus as well as app, I found out that they have cancelled the original order number today and create the new order number. Both order number ends with A.

      Optus app shows original order number (not the new one, dont know why) and therefore the status is cancelled.

      To conclude, my order is still active, not cancelled ( just replaced with different order number).

    Ordered last night an hour or so after the deal was posted. Order status is still saying ‘submitted’ and service activation is still saying ‘pending’. Let’s see what happens.

    For those saying that they can’t see how this can be honoured, I actually think it makes sense for Optus. They probably have a huge surplus of these tablets that they need to get rid of. Data costs them very little, they get some form of a return on their old stock which would have otherwise had to be written off and they might snag a few customers who stay with Optus long term.

      I agree. I think they at least break even on this, plus they boost their subscriber count which looks good for quarterly reporting, and many will forget to cancel or overpay

    Had a crack for shits and giggles on the online chat with Colin. No go for 64gb or 128gb. All out of stock and no idea if they will be getting any back in

    [IMP] If the deal doesn't get honoured, I think we will have a right to lodge a complaint with Ombudsman.

    Each complaint costs the company at least a couple of hundred in processing costs etc. I would recommend that all of us lodge an individual complaint against Optus if they don't honour the contract.

    We should ask for original contract to be honoured or be reimbursed with the cancellation costs of $496.xx

      Meh, no offence but if it works out great. If not, no harm no foul. I personally think the ‘entitled’ to the ‘deal’ view is flawed, even if it is a huge communications company.
      Small business couldn’t possibly fulfil these orders- should a large one?

          Doesn’t bother me. You’ll have that on your file whether you get the deal or not. If you’re worried about credit checks you shouldn’t really be applying for these types of things anyway.

          Go and read this thread, people have made mistakes in their order (36 months instead of 12 months) so have cancelled the order and re-ordered without a charge.

  • if you want to order & get it quicker do it via chat was told by the rep it goes through immediately & you should receive the tab in 3 days, if you go via app/website it goes through the backend & can take up to 10days, I went the cashrewards way which probably wont get anyway, just go through chat

            @lordra: That’s an odd definition. I would have thought that if the warehouse has the item in stock, then the item is in stock. Back order would be when its out of stock and the warehouse is ordering more from the supplier.

      It says free express delivery, more likely if you do thru chat the sales rep gets credit so they prefer you to do thar.

    • Don't think the reps have the power to push the orders on a priority basis. In the end, everything goes via the backend process and all the checks need to be passed before the order is successfully processed. This is especially the case when there is hardware involved.

    Being a pending order probably makes it easier for them to cancel it if they need to cull some numbers. On the flipside, I am an existing customer so hopefully they can look after their loyal customer base (lol).

    I have been talking to the app chat and I was informed the device is out of stock even though I placed my order on 23/04. I was also told the device bonus has been pulled out from Optus on 24/04

      People need to keep in mind that the Optus staff that you chat through on the app normally have next to no idea what is happening at the best of times. I’ve been with Optus for years and you can ask 3 different staff members the same question and get 3 different answers.

      What does your order status say in the app?

        A bit of an update: the rep told me they were told not to take any more orders as the device won't be available before the offer period ends on 26 May so as long you managed to get a confirmation order number, you should be right. We won't get it for 6-7 weeks

      • As an edit to this comment, I decided to try again with a different support person and they instead just asked me some questions about my identification and updated my driver's license info on file and processed the order and I now have a bunch of emails regarding the order, so it looks like I might actually be scoring a tablet.

  • Just off Optus Chat progressing my order from "Temporary" to confirmed. Took a while - about an hour - wanted to be sure of everything regarding the contract.

    Bloke told me that they couldn't upgrade my existing data-sim service service to this, it needed to be processed as a new order. I will jsut cancel my existing data-sim plan when that happens - that will achieve the same financial outcome - and I *might" qualify for cashback in this case as a new order. Just means that I probably lose Amazon Prime from my SubHub service, although that was due to run out in mid-year anyway.

    Let's see when this thing arrives now….I won't be buying a case until I get a shipping order though!!!

      I haven't received a confirmation email for my order yet. (New optus signup here)

      Just spoke to a rep in chat, took half an hour for them to tell me my order was confirmed and would be delivered in the next 3-5 days. They even wrote me an email confirming this..

      When I asked for a copy of the contract, they then backtracked and stated my order hadn't gone through because I hadn't sent in my is for the credit check, which I was never prompted to do.

      Really doesn't inspire confidence in their online chat staff…

        I had a rep tell me my order was 'in transit' literally an hour after my order was placed… After telling him that was impossible (so quickly & on a Sunday) he backtracked & said;

    I had so much FOMO with this deal. I have no need for a tablet at all (I have an iPad I hardly ever use) but it was so tempting to get it anyway. I didn’t get it, but now that it’s out of stock, I regret not getting it, even though I don’t need it. I wonder if anyone else goes through this bargain-envy. And not to mention the hours I have wasted reading through this thread checking to see if Optus will honour the deal. Just part of being an ozbargainer I guess lol.

      Very similar situation here. Had no real need for a tablet and also own an underused iPad. Having read a fairly thorough review of this A8 though, it seems to be a great media viewer, so can load up on movies/tv series before travelling, which is the plan soon. Apparently the A8 speakers are reasonably good stereo and loudness too, so a reasonable device for hotel rooms etc.
      FOMO ended up winning over common sense on this occasion.
      If nothing else, at least the 30GB of data will be useful.
      At least, that’s how I justify it…..

    So, we'd have to cancel during the 12th month of the plan, before the last bill, to not be strung on for an extra month of $25, is that correct?

      you should get charged in advanced. your invoice will show how many device repayments you have made. once you have received your last bill (device repayment 12/12) you can cancel.

        • i think they invoice you when the next billing period occurs. when i signed up my billing period got adjusted to the end of the month. i think i read somewhere in the correspondence that if your sim arrives before the first billing period then data usage is free up til then. so if your sim arrives wednesday then you might get a couple of days free until the end of the month and you receive your first invoice for may sometime around the start of the month and have about 2 weeks to pay

          in my experience delivery is blindingly fast, next day if order placed before 12pm. so i imagine things will get processed on tuesday and delivery on wednesday unless there is some massive backlog for samsung tablets :)

          in your optus account there is an option for seeing how much it costs to cancel a plan, so just wait until that says $0

    I got given a temporary order, but I only realised that I should've called them straight away rather than wait when it was too late.
    Just went into store and they couldn't give me the original deal but got the tablet and sim on the spot for $25/month.
    Figured it was still a good deal at that price and I'll try and argue the toss when they follow up with the online temporary order.

          Well built, nice screen and quick enough. Samsung also had a couple of software updates already once turning on. Pretty happy with it even at this price and at $12.50/month it's a steal.

    1st chat - no stock. Wait for further instructions
    2nd chat - informed me that order didn't go through at all. temp order number shows nothing.
    3rd chat - wait for 5-6 days without checking order number
    4th chat - placed new order over chat (matched with original temporary order) verified id, terms and conditions, payment setup etc. Got order confirmation ending with A. Got chat reference id. Sent chat history in email. Was told ETA 1 - 3 days

    Will see what happens this week

  • Just got the call from an Indian call centre to confirm my temporary order number (ordered 23/4). During the call, they mentioned the tablet and the $12.50/mth payment. They also tried upsell a galaxy watch or apple watch and also a monthly call plan. Shortly after the call, I received an SMS regarding my order.

However, I'm highlighting that this is a legitimate call from Optus to confirm my order. Given that there are so many orders, I didn't want people to ignore this call and miss out on their order.     I got given a temporary order number after completing the online purchase. I have been trying to contact them via chat all through the weekend and yesterday, but they have been absolutely useless. I'd send a message, then get one back 45 mins later saying "I'm just checking into your enquiry now and I'll be with you in a few minutes" - then they'd disappear and not respond.

    I finally got hold of someone this morning who was being helpful. Apparently when I submitted my order, they did not receive:

    1. My shipping address
    2. My employment details

    I have no idea how or why they didn't receive that information, because the system would not have even let me complete the order if those critical basic details were missing. The fields are required before anything can be submitted. It sounds like their system just crapped out.

    So no credit check had yet been done. I gave them permission to complete a credit check and proceed with the order. Apparently now they are saying that the device cost is higher than what my credit was approved for. WTF?
    They say the device cost is $250 and I was only approved for $120.

    The credit assessment team are no longer available by phone, so this person on chat has emailed them and promised to call me at 12:35pm AWST today with a follow up.

    Obviously this tablet is out of stock now, so I am going to be SUPER PISSED if they have just done a credit check and can't send me the tablet that I placed an order for.

      This happened completely without my consent and the reason I failed their credit check is my temporary visa expiring in next 6 months and bridging visa is not acceptable.

        My order number started with a T followed by digits, there was no A at the end. That really sucks how they declined it based on your visa status. My credit check hasn't been outright declined, they are just saying for some bizarre reason that I was only approved for a $120 device? It's strange and I don't fully understand it.

        Anyway it's likely that they are going to call me and tell me "Sorry, we have no stock left so we can't proceed with your order".
        I'm going to push for them to offer me something else highly discounted, or see what else they can offer me. I don't know what chances I've got, but I'll be extremely annoyed if they have done a credit check and don't offer me anything at all.

    Last night when I clicked Track your oder, it showed an order. This morning however it shows nothing.
    When I reached out to the chat, firstly they were unable to locate the order. After a while when they finally found it, chat said that my credit check is not complete even though I provided all the information when placing the order.
    Not sure if I want to go through with the order anymore - I don't really know if its bad to have a credit check on my file.
    Anyone else in a similar situation?

    • Did you try manually entering the tracking number in? when I click on the link in my SMS it comes up blank, but if I track using the original e-mail or just typing in the order, then it shows up.

      I don't have much faith in the chat support people (asked them about 5g home internet last time and they never tried to gather more information than what is simply shown on the website).

      I used to have an Optus account a couple of years ago so I used the same to place a new order. When I didnt see my order (even though I had an order number ending with A), I reached out to the chat and was told that the order was cancelled as the system marked it as Fraudulant. I provided the correct details when placing the order, not sure if they would have done a credit check and if it will be a mark on my profile. It has been a very dissappointing experience for me.

    A family member and I both purchased within 3 hours of the deal being posted.

    Neither have received any form of delivery confirmation. Out status still shows 'submitted', service activation is 'pending' and delivery has now had a number allocated but no other information.

    I got onto the chat and they advised that the item was on it's way from the warehouse to be delivered. My family member did the same and was told that they were out of stock and that is why his order hadn't progressed.

    Not entirely sure what is happening but I think it's safe to say that people should not trust what the support staff say at all, they are clueless.

    I ordered on 23/4 @6pm

    Received an order confirmation (with "A" at the end of the order number). Received a service number in the same email as part of the contract.

    Spoke with online chat today as my order still has the status as "Submitted"

    I was told a similar tone as others here, they confirmed order is being processed at the warehouse and is getting ready for packaging.

    They also provided another order number to use for tracking however I'm not exactly sure if that is correct.

    I haven't received an update but the tone of the chat was similar to others here, probably taking it with a pinch of salt until some form of confirmation of delivery is received (if ever)

  • Got tracking no from StarTrack too. Finger cross it’s not just a SIM card that they’re sending without the tablet. Some telco use StarTrack just to send SIM card, in my case Telstra. For security reason sometimes they send SIM card and phone separately also.

  • Spoke to two reps, one in Support & other in Sales area in Optus chat.
    For those whose orders are still in submitted status and service pending, the tablet is now out of stock. Optus doesn't know if it'll ever come back in stock as they have now put a stop-sell on it.
    You could change the device but then the offer doesn't apply so that's useless. They offered A7 tablet though.

    I guess this will be the case for lots of ppl who ordered it later. Ideally Optus website should have never let us order it when they didn't have the stock. Sorry for being the bearer of bad news, I hope I'm wrong and everyone gets their order somehow.

        We're in WA and it's coming from Sydney so why should that matter? I placed my order before x person and I deserve to have stock allocated to me before x person regardless of where in the country I am. Optus warehouses are Optus warehouses, they all share the same stock.

        • If they can only freight 100 units from Sydney to Perth (for example), and you're allocated the 101st unit, you won't get yours today.

          But if they can freight 200 units from Sydney to Melbourne, then the 101st Melbourne order gets fulfilled.

          So it matters.

        I suggest that too. I ordered 23/4, but as I was an existing customer "upgrading" it categorised me as a Temporary Order. I jumped on Optus Chat on 25/4 to push it through as a Processed Order, but this has probably pushed me WAY down the list for shipment. But unlike most people here, I am not going to lose sleep about missing out on a tablet that I might use seldomly lol…..

    • Patience have paid off- waited till 5.25 pm tonight before receiving SMS and email to say that my mobile order has progressed and it now has an orderID with a A at the end and I need to confirm my registration sms. I also noticed that Optus has debited 0.01c as CC authorisation on my credit card at the time of order over the weekend.

      So for those waiting, have faith it will come through soon for you.

    Live chat isn't pushing it through they're saying I need to do it again.

        If this deal has proved just one thing, it's that chat reps have no idea and seemingly make up facts as they go.

        • I found this out during my chat with them, apparently when the credit department says there's not enough info the order stays "submitted" but can only then be cancelled, there is now way to fill in the blanks and send it back. It was only after I expressed how disappoited I was that they didn't contact me, they said "oh wait, let me try another method" and wouldn't you know it turned out they can re-submit it. What a disaster it is speaking with them.

    I use the order number on the star track tracking page but says the order cannot be located.

    I also checked my aus post app and I see nothing.

    For those who see tracking details on aus post what does it state and where does it state its coming from? Does it say Optus? I have ordered directly from Samsung recently and was wondering if the delivery I see on the app is the one i ordered from samsumg or the optus.

    • Mine doesn't say where its coming from (other than Sydney). However when I put my order on the Optus startrack tracking page, it shows the same Startrack tracking number, which I assume means it is the correct one.

    'The order is at Shipment/Delivery Request.

    Second message: 'Optus will make sure their loyal customers get the best services from us, and not getting disappointed again and really regret for the hassle you are facing due to this issue'.

      I think startrack is batch processing the delivery info. Mine is still stuck at some depo despite it has been delivered early in the morning. My guess is when the delivery status changes to delivered Optus will automatically proceed with activation of the SIM card.

  • I got a temp order on 24/4/22 at 11:45am. No contact from them since that email so I called up just now and he put the order through for me. 23 minute call, but a nice enough guy.
    This was for the 128gb model.
    ETA 3-5 days.

        Sometimes people see a neg and stack on. It's not your fault Optus don't know to ship out earlier orders first. I ordered on the 23rd and 26th, 26th order is ready for delivery, no updates on the order from the 23rd. I didn't expect the 26th order to be fulfilled, but ordered just in case they got more stock, no harm if it doesn't. I never expected it to get put to the front of the line.

    You get the order number if you place the order. But once it is in stock, it will be sent out to you.

    But SAMSUNG is yet to provide a tentative date to us about when they will back up with the latest stock. So, unfortunately, we do not have an update here as when the new stock will come up.

    Thanks OP, best Ozbargain deal for me so far.

    Placed order for 64GB version on Saturday arvo 23/4, received tablet and SIM today Wednesday from Star Track driver @3pm, no signature required.

    The Star Track tracking seems to be out of whack, still says on board for delivery 10.05am, Optus Order Status in the app still says submitted.

    In other words, it appears the systems are still in catch up mode, which does not help us at all.

    Time to look for a case and screen protector!

    What case do people suggest for this?

  • I ordered 23/04 around 7pm WA time. Received confirmation text and email within a couple of minutes with a proper order number (not temp). Haven't received anything since. Order has been showing as "submitted" this whole time. Now it's showing as "open".

    I messaged live chat and wow are they the most incompetent amateurs I have ever dealt with. If I could post screenshots you would all be laughing at how ridiculously bad they are. I got four different answers from the same person before being transferred to an "expert", who was no better than the last.

    In the end they've told me "apologies but the items are already pulled out of the market". When I said to leave my order as is then, they replied "weather your order goes through or not your still not gonna get the item"

    I was more than happy to wait but now I'm very irritated at the fact that orders placed after mine have already been delivered, that I've wasted all this time dealing with these muppets only to be basically told "too bad".

    • I order similar time but NSW. Heard nothing till 26th. On 25th went to chat with Optus. First guy was taking 60+ mins to reply. And in the end he said this will take long and he will reply when he have answer. And heard nothing from him after that.

      Next day contacted Optus again. The rep was talking like he just want me to accept that i wont get the device. Like he would say your order didn't complete and no explanations. His last chat was apology and saying that my order was no placed properly.

      I gave up on the order and on 27th i get the email that order is approved. And now on 28th i have 2 contracts in my contracts. One dated for 27 and other for 28. And i got email that my contract will commence from 29th and i will receive the tablet soon.

      I have no idea what to expect now. I will just wait and see what happens cuz support guys are so clueless.

        They're ridiculously bad hey, they couldn't organise a root in a brothel. Absolutely clueless. After being told last night that I won't get my tablet, I received the text and email this afternoon saying it's ready for delivery. Tracking is now showing on star track website and is due on Monday/Tuesday next week. Can't wait to see what actually arrives

  • Ordered before 8pm AEDT on Saturday 23/4 for the 64GB model. Received email & SMS with tracking number that it has been dispatched today afternoon for delivery tomorrow. Optus's website still shows it as submitted, seems quite backlogged.

    I asked for more information and they responed with

    …Which means s**t to me.

    Just tried the Startrack link with my order number and no info avaliable.

    Tonight the tracking link from the Optus email says "Order not found" / "information unavaliable" but website also says under maintenance.

    Will try again tomorrow. I have been wanting a new tablet since I sold my old Toshiba (yes old) 4 years ago.

    • That reflects almost exactly my experience as well. I ordered on 24th at around 5.30am. Order details disappeared and online chat said they can see Order but no stock, but rest assured you will get it when in stock and no, we don't have status of stock at this point.

    Looks like we all need to be a little more patient and give it a few days. I think the public holiday caused a backlog hence why we all got no updates till now…

    I ordered in store at $25/month after getting temporary order on Saturday. After over an hour and half of back and forth with countless live chat Optus people, I finally got to someone that could help. Managed to get my instore contract amended to $12.50/month!

        Yep, as soon as I saw it was out of stock online Sunday I just went to get it instore instead.
        They gave me the device and activated the sim on the spot.

        I already had a 5gb data sim with telstra for $15/month I was going to cancel for this.
        $10/month extra for the tablet and more data seemed like a good deal to me.

    the startrack tracking doesn't seem to be working. optus don't activate the service until it is marked as delivered. i had to ring up to activate my sim but it is now up and running in my b818 modem

    i've saved money replacing my more expensive 4g home broadband plan plus i get free tablets

    hopefully optus will release some more cracking offers next april as well

  • I can't believe mine actually came. I ordered around 3hrs after deal was posted.

  • Received yesterday and powered up, put the SIM in and no activation.
    Got into chat this morning and was told my service was still pending and until the service was approved, the SIM wouldn't be active.
    A few minutes later, I got an email saying the new service is active.
    My guess is a backlog of activations and so SIMs just sit in the tablet until the 'Optus machine' does it's thing.

    Happy with the tablet but Optus 4G crappy at my place. Mobiles are on Telstra and much better. Only 1 tower covers me and Optus are lower on the tower for me, with trees in the way. Not a biggy as 4G will only be used at home when the NBN plays up.

  • Few things to note

    1: These tablets can create a 2nd Account to run alongside your other optus account (i now have 2 in the app) and the data CANNOT be pooled with the other account (I do have 4 devices on the other acct)

    2: Mine both showed up as delivery for today but was actually delivered yesterday and STILL says out for delivery today

    3: There are 4 software updates when setting it up!

    4: Seems you have to phone in for activation. Neither of mine activated.

      Problem is that AusPost/StarTrack has been experiencing issues with their tracking system since yesterday and many orders are still showing as being in transit or even stuck on "on board for delivery" even though they have already been delivered.

      • Mine was delivered yesterday afternoon and a few hours later it showed up on startrack as "1 of 1 Delivered. Signatory - XXXXX".
        Sim still wasn't activated this morning. So I had a chat with Optus around 9am this morning and a few minutes later it was active.

        • Issues with non-rate limited requests through Developer API look to have been resolved now. I think anyone who didn't get their service activated automatically within 4 hours of delivery should expect it to happen shortly.

    Got mine yesterday.
    Tablet and Sim card came in a padded A3 envelope.

    Should come as 1 order from what I know

    I didn't even need a tablet but thought this was a solid deal.

    Tablet is decent, it's actually quite heavy and thick (compared to an iPad Air) but we'll constructed aluminium body.

    The screen isn't very bright and the colour saturation isn't the Samsung norm (I prefer vibrant and saturated displays)

    But again very decent for the price. I wouldn't pay RRP but this is a deal considering the added data SIM

    Makes for a good movie/net browsing tablet or a throw around for the kids

    For $150 or $200 odd, this is a very solid deal.

    Little bit heavier than expected, as someone that's used to high refresh rates this definitely isn't as snappy but for $150 really can't complain.

    Should be great for browsing, watching Youtube etc - even without the tablet the data plan of 30GBs a month for $12.50 is not the worst deal.

  • Just received email from Optus. Asking me to call, with a reference number.
    I called, and surprised to get connected quite quickly.
    After a lot of asking them to repeat what they said and slow down and speak clearly, the best I understand is that they were checking how many orders I placed.
    I said just one. I have just one order. Ok, wait 3-5 days they replied. And promptly hung up.
    So, I still have no idea if I'm getting a tablet, or an Optus data plan, or if it's going to be cancelled.
    It was all in all a really odd exchange.

    placed an order on 23rd at 10:54 PM for 64 GB version and had been waiting for any further update. The order tracker still says "submitted". So, thought of messaging and here is the latest update from chatbot
    "Great news. Your Samsung Tab A8 64GB has been allocated and is being shipped out to you.You can track your delivery using Optus order number XXXXXXXA" and then gives me the startrack link. Though I can`t track as of now, it might take 24 hrs before the tracking is active. Fingers crossed . Thanks OP. Hope this helps someone.Cheers

    My order for 64Gb was placed at 11:40pm on 23/4. Just got text and email now saying it's just been shipped.

  • I chat with optus assistant on the app this morning, the order was pending, bought on 23, 11pm. I was asked to provide driving license ID for checking. 2 hrs later I received SMS and email for delivery. I suggest people to make sure they have got their driving license checked to speed up the process, if they have not done so. I think this is a great deal, do 90 percent of what a IPAD does, I don't like using tablets to edit photos or videos, it is very slow to do professional work on tablet. My tablet is only for browsing the web and watch Youtube, I don't need "retina display" for youtube videos. This is practical and save lots of money, save some here and there and I enjoy my life with least cost, less stress.

    Local Optus store had no stock but I sold my soul and got one from Gerry Bargain. The guy thought I was there for the $25/month plan and I had to show him the 50% off site. He wouldn't do it and his manager was getting super defensive. He would not accept it was a real deal. Maybe his Gerry mind control device started ticking when he asked me where I found out about this deal.

    In the end I signed up for $25/month on 12 month plan and left the store without paying for anything. After 1.5 hours on chat and after being transferred 3 times, the Optus rep says my discount will be applied within 24 hours. I did it boys.

      Honestly most people here didn't even really want the tablet, it was just that much of an enticing deal when paired with the data allocation. So yeah, I foresee the scalpers failing. The only bigger fail would be if someone actually were to buy one of these from a scalper.

      • I put myself in that category, and I won't be ranting if I don't end up getting one delivered. The cashback component coming through would put this into the "epic deal" category for me. Effectively a free tablet.

Good luck to everyone else who ordered the tablet. I think we should just wait, it is obvious they are working on the backlog at the moment (understand the frustration with the randomness of people who advised they have received their tablets (i.e., the order timing)).

    Got the text and email from optus saying delivery for my first order is on the way. Ordered Sun 24 April 0045am WA time. Now waiting for delivery notification for second order.

      Thing is, most people who were first in are still waiting to even receive shipping confirmation whilst others who ordered days later are saying that they have their tablets in their hands. Seems like Optus are just picking orders out of a hat to fulfil them.

    i just discovered i can receive sms messages using the mobile broadband service number. sending messages doesn't appear to be supported. always good to have another number for sms verifications

    Not overly impressed with the tablet. Screen is meh. Spent whole day installing update after update lol. Lags even when scrolling through apps on google play. Don’t be to upset you don’t get one.

      I actually think its pretty good for daily usability, no lag from it yet. and only 2 updates took less than 10 minutes to do. it might be a bit slow but im pretty impressed tbh. viewing angles on the screen is average though

    • When i played at a dsiplay instore I found that the screen was lacking in brightness. Also it was on the blue hue side as opposed to warm. Is there a software toggle that you can try to make it natural colour?

        Not that I can see. It's definitely a cooler colour and looks less appealing

      • It does have a night mode that makes the screen a bit yellow tinted, but brightness is actually pretty good.

    Meh, I ordered mine minutes after this deal is posted, got temporary order number. Just called to sort out my temporary order and now got an order ending with A. Don’t foresee myself getting it anytime soon. Congrats to those who got it.

      Same. Almost seems like they allocated devices last in first out. Optus told me on chat they cancelled as they are out of stock. But if that was the case, they should not have been able to sell more than they have, unless their online system doesn't take into account stock levels held. Having said that, when this deal was being OzBargained, it went out of stock on their site so I think what has really happened is that the latest orders may have been fulfilled first. Who really knows though….

    Mine got confirmation last night and due for delivery today.
    I figured after a few reports of cancelled orders they had finished sending out their stock but I guess it's just quite a long list they are working through.

    Got mine delivered yesterday! 😊 Had to show an ID. The order status is still 'Submitted' in the app. If you are trying to do a status check on your order, please ask to be connected to the sales team on the chat who will be able to provide accurate info. The customer service team is appalling at best. Also, I never received an email or SMS with tracking info.

    Curious what people think the tablet is actually worth (especially when compared to say a base model ipad). I missed this deal but see some people selling them for ~$250 online so was tempted to nab one for that price….however i have found samsung tablets in the past get veryyyyyy sluggish quickly

      Performance seems adequate

    • maybe I've had my old ipad for too long, not sure I'm used to the "widescreen" display ratio (great in landscape for video, a bit too narrow in portrait for reading) and the colour of the screen seems a little too blue for my liking. Facial recognition is very hit and miss, works maybe 60% of the time for me so far. Loud audio. Expandable microSD great for loading up videos and other content. Still great value for this deal price

    • You should still be able to get it for $25/m in store at Optus, HN, or likely other Optus dealers. Why pay $250 when you can pay $300 over the year and get the data plan as well?

        • If you can still get it for $25 from the optus website, you'll also get $55 cashback from CashRewards. Another benefit of buying it yourself on the plan is the warranty will be easier, and you could claim it on your tax if appropriate.
