This is as good as the noctua model. price has gone to $135

    • Generally compared to the NH-D15. Black model of that is retail over $170.

Last NH-D15 black sale on here was ~$150 shipped mid last year.

      • this is DARK

  • Thanks OP, I got one.

    Thanks, got it :)

  • Delivery is $10 aus wide

    • $17 to Tas. Still ordered.

      • Maybe to most capital cities then.

  • This or liquid cooler?
Or are they mostly the same in terms of performance?

    • just depends on your preferences. If you have RGB RAMs and do not want these monsters block the lights, then go for AIO.
For the performance, 280 AIO performs usually better than high end Air coolers.

These guys claim that liquid cooling performs a bit worse for sustained temps and comes with more risk and parts which can break, but is better for absorbing bursts of heat:

Air. Always. But check ram clearance. Good enough and reliable. Also tend to get better players making them which can give new minting brackets when things change (noctua = free, phanteks = $20ish)

Problem with water cooling is pump noise for me. I need a dead silent PC or I get a headache.

Also less maintenance. Fan goes just get another one. Be Quiet fans are highly rated.

Dalgona456 mentioned RAM, that's a consideration. I'm pairing with two 16gb Corsair LPX sticks.

I'm not aware of any RGB ram that will clear 40.5 mm if you're filling slots 2 and 4 in dual chan. You can adjust the fan up for maximum 46mm clearance on slot 4 but I want the cooler flush with the fan or it'll bug me.

You won't be able to see any lighting other than splash and a slither of slot 4 so there's that. My mobo has lighting around this area anyway so not fussed.

      • Omg thanks. I bought without thinking about the ram clearance. So it will clear 40mm. Phew

If this fits, get it. You will then own a reliable cooler that will last years.

    • Thanks, will get the non-pro version due to ram clearance.
      I’ve got the G.Skill Trident Z Neo

      • +2

Be aware that on some motherboards the non-pro version blocks off the first ram slot (closest to CPU). Not an issue if you're using slots 2 and 4 in dual.

        reference: https://www.bequiet.com/en/insidebequiet/26

Note these are ATX boards. Smaller boards have less space between CPU and ram slots.

        • Oh good point.
I’ve got the Asrock X570 phantom gaming 4 ATX.
The pro version would be a tighter fit?

          • @congo: Pro has cutout on the heatsink to clear ram on slots 1-3 (46mm clearance). It's the fan that has plastic that interferes with slot 4.

The non-pro has the fan hanging over slot 1. Keep in mind in both instances you can clip the fan higher to clear ram (max 46mm).

If you're running dual chan on slots 2 and 4 you shouldn't have any issues with the non-Pro. The ram covering up 5% of the fan might look a bit weird. If it's RGB ram you'll definitely see it.

        • +1

I installed the fan on the opposite side of the radiator (so it "sucks" the air out) to unblock the first RAM slot in the non-pro version. Didn't see noticable temp change in my 5900X.

  • Discount extends to the non pro model as i noted earlier here:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/695798 $81-$20=$61

Also, if Osborne park restocks you might get the deals there too.

Ah it was in the comments! I ran a thread search and didn't see it in the titles. Hat tip m'lady.

      • Yea I mentioned the Pro in comments there, but definitely worth it's own post.

I've personally got my eyes set on the DeepCool Assassin III for when I upgrade my CPU, been a similar price before after shipping for this DRP4, e.g. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/667505

    • Wouldn't recommend the non-pro model. It could barely handle my i7-9700 (non-k), temps went up to the high 70s.

      • This is a great solution if you've got the space - I've got the non-pro cooler on my 5600 and it runs at around 62c under high load. Sounds like something was amiss here? What case are you using?

        • +2

It was the corsair 500d with stock config (1 exhaust 1 intake fan). Tried re-mounting it several times and used new arctic thermal paste, always got the same temps. Have a new aio and case now but if I was buying an air cooler again I'd go for the pro or nhd15 since they aren't much more expensive.

          • @Ostrk: Yeah fair enough, you do need enough airflow for the coolers to do their magic. I've got mine mounted in a NZXT 510i flow which seems to have enough air flowing through it to keep it cool at load.

            • @deletedpenguin: Yea that case was meant for watercooling so it had poo airflow but I was still expecting a lot more considering the CPU I was using. Have an airflow case now so if my AIO dies I could put it back in and it'll prolly be better. Still think it's a pretty bad buy since the pro is just $20 more.

              • @Ostrk: Yeah for $20 more you'd be silly to not go with the pro version.

                • @deletedpenguin: 250w vs 200w.. Bigger and heavier..and more expensive.

The non pro is totally fine for me. 3600 not overclocked. I just wanted a cooler that didn't have a whiny pitch.

I say this having run nh-d15 and stock coolers, ie: both extremes. I had a tendency to get the best but actually it's generally unnecessary.

  • Currently rocking an Arctic P12 on an old Hyper 212X heatsink. This seems like a great price but I don't think I need it… CPU is 5600X

    • That's why I've just done. 3600 here but all looks well even with a quiet fan curve. Wbu?

      • Oh the P12 is a beast. Super happy with it, even on the budget 212X. Huge step up from 212X stock performance in temps and noise - knocked off around 15°C while being almost silent compared to the loud stock fan.

        https://imgur.com/2aZ0cIm

5600X isn't so power hungry. I imagine I would need something better if I had a 5900X etc but I just don't need that perf, so this cooler is probably overkill.

        • Looks good. I'm hearing some weird noise at lower rpm but I'm not sure if it's my case fans or something else.

It looks Amazon have some "like new" ones for 55 AUD.

the down side of this huge cooler is the memory clearance, 40mm.

      TR4!

      • Lol, this is still a pretty crazy deal. I guess TR4 is kinda dying though.

    • That's a different item to this deal.

  • missed out:
The Gift Card/Coupon Code you have entered is invalid, please try again

maybe an afterpay problem as I signed up early this morning for this deal exclusively

It was for the first 2650 redemptions.

  • I'm running this with a 5600x and it's great. Makes (profanity) all noise and keeps things cold.

  • Got it today, never seen a box battered as much as this box was, luckily wasn't hard disks or they would of been trashed.

It looked like someone had kicked it like 100 times.

    • Mine arrived too. Box was bagged, no issues.
