Which Brand Drivers Do You Hate The Most?

I know it is ridiculous to hate drivers based on what car they are driving, but I really have a thing with BMW X series drivers.

I know for sure it isn't a jealousy thing, because I don't have the same sentiment towards other luxury brands like Mercedes or Audi etc.

I don't know what it is about them, but BMW X series drivers seem:

  • entitled
  • never give "thank you" waves
  • aggressive
  • don't indicate
  • change lanes constantly
  • always cut the queue to front of lane in traffic light, that ends after the light

So every time I see a BMW I have this natural instinct to not extend courtesy to them on the road (such as not making room for them into traffic, when they are coming out of petrol stations etc, because I know they aren't gonna give me that thank-you wave).

Is this just me? Or does anyone else have like a "pet-peeve" brand of cars you really hate on the road?

p.s. I'm a Tesla driver btw lol

yes, I guess diesel specifically. most likely have every damn DPF/restriction removed while tailgating and cutting people off haha.

        • +5

          90s Patrols and Landcruisers don't have DPFs…

    • +3

Agreed, but can we add lifted Ford Rangers to the list?

      • +2

'Ken oath! Or ones that are overloaded so their asses sag. Normal ride height ones i don't have too many issues with but the lifted/saggy ones i end up with their headlights pointed directly at my rear vision mirror (i drive an MX5) and they sit RIGHT UP MY ASS trying to bully the little car.

White Toyota Corolla drivers! They are the worst drivers on the road. We call them out whenever we see them to be ready for their terrible driving. Seriously though, if you own a white corolla then you are an extremely boring person or someone who does not value cars/driving skill.

    • But there's difference between "can't drive for excrememt" vs "driving like a vv4nk4"

      • True. Anyone driving a Rav4 obviously knows nothing about cars and can't drive for sh!t, but they aren't doing it deliberately. I still hate them tho.

    • +17

Listen here mate, I own a white 2020 Toyota Corolla and it is cheap to service, cheap to insure, cheap to fuel and very economical, and non descript - you wouldn't know if it was me or one of the other thousands of Corolla drivers out there. Why would I buy anything but the factory default colour when other paint cost another $500 on top. I bet you are one of those clowns that pay for vanity plates.. lemme guess, it's OZB-RGN, but no bargain to be had there mate when you PAID extra for it, what a clown you are for not owning a corolla. Just to add, I've never had an at fault accident, ever, in over 22 years of driving. My insurance is dirt cheap but top of the line, just like my car.

      Stay jealous, kid.

    • +2

ah yes old stereotypes die hard, but the new corolla is actually quite a decent car. in a lot of cases the 'thrill from driving' you get comes from never predicting when it might break down on the side of the road

      • +3

        Corollas don't break down. Ever.

        • Nice to know they've improved then.

    • If its a late model, more often than not it'll be a fleet/company car. Probably explains why they cant drive for poop, they don't give a poop about the car because its not theirs

    • +5

      And Camry drivers too.
Guaranteed to be driving 20% slower than the speed limit, bouncing off the unbroken lines and generally being oblivious to the world around them.

Green light? Better dab the brakes.
Left turn? Better hook over to the right to get the big rig around the corner.
80 zone? Better do 60 until there’s an overtaking lane.

    • +1

Had one pull out of the shopping centre doin 10 in a 70 zone. I braked hard and honked they slowed down more.

Ahhh yes, the car equivalent of beans and rice.

  • +2

I don't spend enough time on the road to hate anyone. 😆

    Why so much 😡?

Life is more enjoyable being 😁.

  • +29

Ute drivers. More often than not, they're driving company cars so they don't give a s**t about the care of the car they're driving.

    • +2

Then there's the ones that are driving the souped-up dual cab utes … just know what kind of a*hole is going to step out of that car.

    • +13

I've often come across a particular ute with company logo 3 out of 5 days on the way to work, who drove like a wnker. Apart from weaving in and out of lanes, he tries to squeeze through and overtake on the left, after the merging has ended.

So I googled the Company, found the CEOs email address and CCd the CEO and sent customer service an email about this driver.
Surprisingly, they actually responded and apologised, CEO ccd. Even put a plugin to be notified when I have read the email. I didn't see that ute on my trip for about 6 months. When I did, his driving improved.

      • +2

I didn't see that ute on my trip for about 6 months

They probably just switched to a non-company-logo'd ute for 6 months. lol

  • Didnt we play this game few weeks ago ??

  • +17

I actually hate all other motorists on the road. Why can't they just stay home?

    • They did for a while during lock down. Driving home from work at night made me feel like the only driver on the road.

  • +9

All mummy tractors during school drop off and pickup.
Prime Minister's vehicle is a BMW?

    • +9

Prime Minister's vehicle is a BMW?

That proves the point about BMWs
      entitled
      never give hold a hose
      aggressive
      change story constantly
      always cut the queue

      • To be fair it was in Abbott's time that ordered the bullet proof beamer POS was procured. Seriously I would have loved to have seen a fortified restomod Statesman or LTD. Would have been sick to showcase the Australian automotive aftermarket.

    • +4

For me it always seems to be Range Rover drivers that drive like their eyes are painted on.

  • +9

i hate SUV (aka softroader) drivers. it's just a lifted hatchback. you, me, even the salesman knows that it's never going to see any more dirt than a gravel driveway or more water than is on wet asphalt, all you're doing is costing yourself more money in petrol / diesel for the feeling of being "safe" (it's not safer, you're more likely to roll it than a lower car). they tend to be slower drivers too, often driving 10km under the limit (probably because it feels like it's going to roll on anything that isn't a straight road). to top it all off, they block your view so you cannot see what's going on ahead of them.

i'm also starting to dislike ute drivers, they tend to be very aggressive and selfish drivers, i was going down either a 100 km or 80 km limit road while at the limit, i saw this bastard in some mitsubishi dual cab coming in very fast from a side road and i remember thinking "he's not going to, is he?.." and he did. usually i don't use the horn even when i would be within my rights, but that time i did. he's lucky i pay attention and don't use my phone while driving, a lot of people do and if it had been one of them, he would have been in a crash.

i also hate people who cannot keep a consistent speed on the highway, i'm restricted to 100 km an hour thanks to ridiculous road rules for the next year or two, but if i'm stuck behind someone who is constantly dipping between 110 and 90, all it does is piss me off. i can overtake, but then they'll probably speed up and start tailgating me until there is a a slight bend and go back down to 90 again, or overtake me and continue having a kicking match with their accelerator pedal.

i haven't noticed a specific brand having more moronic drivers than others, but rather specific types of vehicle having more moronic drivers than average.

    • -5

Think you are the problem lol

      • +2

for driving a reasonably sized car and following road rules & etiquette?

    • +5

SUV is the most popular segment so it has its merit. It's easier to get in and out of and you have greater visibility.
Seriously, no one is buying them to take off road.

      • +1

easier to get in and out of? maybe, compared to some cars, like sports or lowered cars, but compared to a normal sedan, they're not.

greater visibility? yes, but everyone has this same idea and as a result, there are so many on the road and you can't see around them

they also come with the downsides of greater fuel costs and a higher centre of gravity, which outweigh the positive of greater visibility.

        • +10

You've obviously never had to take a baby or toddler out of a sedan, or had to drive elderly parents.

          • +1

@Ryanek: and they usually have lots of extra room as well, which is great for families or people lugging stuff around.

No one buys a city suv because they think its a 4wd.

          • +2

@Ryanek: Successive generations are getting softer, soon they’ll need a car that removes the child for them.

            • @smartazz104: I mean we're halfway there - there are those that beep when you leave something in the backseat.

            • @smartazz104: i did ponder on getting a vehicle that does that, but then the extra weight isnt likely to be great for gas mileage

          • @Ryanek: spot on. its a pain to get my kid out of veloster which only has a single back door

    • +4

Dude these are just regular cars now. Its pretty much a modern station wagon you are describing with a little more ground clearance and a little more height in the cabin. Many models aren't even fitted with a rear differential now. AWD adds too much to the cost.

    • +1

Have you ever considered families that need the extra capacity? Or some people just like the feeling of driving an elevated vehicle. I'm single and about to purchase one for that exact reason. Seriously, people who buy SUVs typically won't care about the higher fuel consumption, they have the money.

  • -5

irrational fear/hate of ‘them’. Not far removed from racism IMO.

I don’t hate them, just learn that you need to be ultra aware of persons that drive certain vehicles.

    • +2

Saw a Tesla for the first time over Easter, no doubt some north shore snob holidaymaker, wish I had a bull bar on my new Nissan Navara, what a ugly looking car, can’t believe people are buying them wouldn’t be seen dead in one lol

    • +29

Wanting a bullbar on a Navara yet complaining a Tesla looks ugly is the best yet

  • +3

    Volvo is making a comeback?

    • +1

      Bloody Volvo driver!! 🤪

  • Seem like Correlation doesn’t imply is causation.

  • Punch Buggy!

  • Not really. But i hate people that are speeding and feel they are entitled the right of way.

Happen to me all day everyday on Monash freeway.

  • -3

I hate toyota Yaris drivers… not only are they bad drivers… but they all have such a useless vehicle that its not even worthwhile to use it as a lawnmower! Yaris drivers are more of a menace on the roads than motorcycles

  • -7

I hate the brand that wear their masks in the car whilst driving alone. Who cares what cars they drive!

    • +4

Why the (profanity) do you care?

      • -7

Because usually they breed and make more stupid people, not what the world needs

        • +2

          … yet we have you.

    • I do this when I anticipate leaving the car to get food/petrol.

    • +1

Anti-maskers are the new vegan crossfitters…

      • -5

Is there anything left you leftist lunatics wont add the prefix anti too just because it's not your view? It's about as far as constructive statements go with you lot

  • nissan tiida drivers

  • +2

I used to hate drivers with loud exhausts, but then realised that it’s because they have tiny d@cks. Now I just picture the sad look on their faces when they pee….

  • +6

My annoyance is all the dual cab ute drivers that insist on tailgating on freeways. The western ring road in Melbourne is terrible for it.

  • +7

    Dodge RAM

Not so much hate, but you just know the driving style and attitude without even seeing the driver or passengers.

Also, the GWM dual cab ute owners with a massive aussie flag in the rear window.

    • OMG so much YES for RAM
RAM drivers don't only take 2 parking spaces but also encountered ridiculous attitudes on the road like someone recently overtaking me on the left in a 50 zone downhill suburban area while blowing out thick exhaust smoke. Car or truck I should say sounded loud but it wasn't fast. Just an old tradie by the look of things who thought a RAM would be a nice way to show off his wealth and classy style LOL :)

I normally give someone the benefit of the doubt on the road and don't assume the driver is a complete idiot but that's exactly what I do with RAM drivers. Assume they're the lowest of the low idiots until proven otherwise. After all, they're responsible for their choice of vehicle…

      • Car or truck I should say sounded loud but it wasn't fast

they're not designed for speed, they're designed for torque.

  • +6

Commodore drivers by far are the worst.

  • +19

Ford Ranger - usually an aggressive F-wit tradie

    • +12

Yep, my vote is the Ranger. Specifically the 'Raptor' edition.

  • Reminds me of the IT service desk joke… the problem is between the chair and the keyboard ;)

    • since this is about cars… the problem is the nut behind the wheel ;)

  • +11

    4WD drivers in general:

    • Constant zigzaggers - drivers who constantly change lanes to try gain a metre advantage while merging every few moments, these people are a severe hazard on the road
    • Headlights are bright enough to blind you, or constantly using high beams at night.
    • Strictly goes 90kmph regardless of the speed signs. Highway? 90. Drops to 60 afterwards? 90.
    • Tailgates you if you're in the right lane for any amount of time, even if your turn off is in 300m.

The last couple years I've been more frustrated on the road with the behaviour of other drivers. I don't know if it it's that drivers are getting more aggressive, or I'm just more aware of it now that I'm a more experienced driver. I gotta crank up SmoothFM to keep me nice and composed lol.

    • -1

The road is a stressful place at times, so anything to make it feel less so is good.
However listening to Smooth FM is enough to give me very high anxiety. I actually think of it as Stress FM. The music (if you can call it that) is so bland & repetitive (playlist of maybe 200 tracks?) that it causes me to have heart palpitations, high blood pressure and to sweat. If a definition of blandness was ever required, Stress FM is it.
If I ever get into a Uber or taxi with Stress FM playing, I have to ask the driver to mute it.
I have nightmares about being trapped in a room where Stress FM is played loud and constantly. In fact I think I need to get out of this thread now as it is causing an anxiety attack and I have a headache.
Please stop listen to that cr@p

      • No thanks..

        smoooooothhhhhh….. 91.5……

      • r u gonna b ok, bro?

    • -1

I have had a few huge 4WD tailgate me and their headlights shine right in the rear view mirror due to their height in 50-70km roads- It sucks. Then they pull up next to you at the lights with their arm out of the window with music cranked up staring down at you as if your the (profanity). I have hand grips that i squeeze when driving to reduce the stress so i dont get bashed up by matching their aggressive posturing.

    • +2

Headlights are bright enough to blind you, or constantly using high beams at night.

that's a problem with newer cars in general with the brighter LEDs, they all have unreasonably bright low beams.

  • +18

Ford Ranger, often Wildtrak or Raptor.
Its easy to lump these Ranger guys into the same class coz they all do the same type of driving.
i.e. drag you off at the lights like a small car, get in front so you have this ominous RANGER logo
right in your face, then obscure your vision for the next few km.

  • Not a fan of audists, but my dislike of the quality probably weighs heavily on that

  • +3

Audi in particular and VW group vehicles. They seem to attract bad drivers across the full range.

    • Old people who can't judge distance or stay in lanes
    • Modded Audis with loud exhausts - just inconsiderate
    • Generally unsafe drivers - weaving, aggressive lane changes, and speed dangerously(eg huge speed difference coupled with other behaviours).
    • Q7 soccer moms
    • The generally mentally unstable. Once I was stopped in traffic and heard swearing, looked over and saw a guy banging on his wheel. I've also been confronted by an Audi driver who lectured me on roundabout rules before driving through a red light(I was on his right and first to enter the roundabout as confirmed by dash cam footage).
    • +4

One of the jokes on Top Gear was the Audi's dispense testosterone through the air-conditioning 😊

      • Audis…predictive text and rushed writing 🙄

  • It used to be the Toyota Camry that were terrible. Now its the i30 hatches. Omg

    • Toyota Camry still pretty bad.

  • +3

Toyota Camry drivers are the modern day Volvo drivers, they have no clue on what is happening around them and cause so many issues on the road.

Tesla owners fall into the same category as vegans, they spend more time telling everyone they drive one and try and push everyone else to be the same.

  • +2

Which Brand Drivers Do You Hate The Most?

The ones that wear fake(?) Gucci and cannot park between the lines

  • +7

Anyone who tailgates. Brand doesn’t determine this; it’s more about being a deadshits!t.

  • +4

As someone who is mostly a pedestrian… I dislike drivers that don't look where they are going as often, and that happens to be 4x4 drivers often enough, who are less concerned about other cars and sometimes inattentive.

I mean, if we're talking categories of people, I have an issue with drunk drivers and am surprised my richer friends/acquaintances are more loose with this (parental influences perhaps?)

  • +8

    PICKUP TRUCKS

I hate pickup trucks in cities.
    Any brand, all brands.

    • +2

      They're called utes. UTES.

      • -2

If you ever own a REAL ute, a classic ute, a Holden or Ford with a wonderful V8 will never ever call a bulky PICKUP truck as anything but a pickup truck

If it looks like a pickup truck, has the chassis of a pickup truck, drives like a pickup truck, uses fuel like a pickup truck THEN IT IS CALLED a pickup truck.

Please call a spade a spade.

  • Hmmm i dislike work vehicles parked in P parking spaces.

    • +8

They asked what car brands you don't like, not whether you're racist.

    • +4

Sounds like a bit of jealousy old boi

  • -5

Dirty povo bogan Kia and Hyundai drivers, I don't want them parking near my Toyota.

    • +2

Hahaha! Own a Stinger and look at Toyota's these days and see over priced and outdated interiors and tech. Their infotainment is like 10 years old, clunky and slow as compared to Hyundai and Kia. Can't remember the Stinger price being "povo" either. Just look at Hyundai and Kia drivers as people who try all models and settle on best value for price point.
