This is a great machine even at this price. I've had the combo with the smart grinder for 6 years now making around 2 - 6 coffees per day. Luckinly got it for $649 with the smart grinder due to a model number error listing the package. No issues to date and I strongly recommend this machine.
Anyone recommend good service centre in Sydney for this machine?
Bravo Repairs is an official service centre who does warranty repairs for Breville.
Probably not the cheapest place. Expect you machine to be out of action for a couple of weeks.
$897 at Good Guys Commercial!
If you have access
Thanks. Ordered, pick up tomorrow from same store that wanted $1140 a week ago.
Couldn't resist and bought one too. Could potentially drop cheaper but I'm not too sure and won't regret it anyway.
5.4 years ago I paid $1079 with grinder, so similar now without grinder. Might see if my coffee tech wants to buy the old one for a loaner or parts. If not red bin, can’t really sell it even if fixed as first question buyer would ask is have you had any issues lol.
Didn’t know as above the new ones were updated internally.
Good find for $897, they must have just re-stocked it at cheaper price as they selling the combo for $1,585
How to get the access?
Only negs as from those who are buying, or who have bought at, this non-bargain price.
What are you smokin, the 2 negs were from those that bought way cheaper lol
No regrets, even at 5 years this machine has saved us a fortune and have been drinking good quality coffee.
Don’t forget your $240 Mother’s Day gift pack to claim too lol
I tried to get information about boilers size, but Breville does not seem to reveal this for some reason!
Anyone know the size of both steam boiler and brew boiler? ThanksI think brew boiler is 0.3L and steam boiler is 0.95L.
Not the biggest numbers in the market.
Since a lot of people are "buying by specs" (comparing just numbers) I suspect Breville decided not to advertise these numbers. :)We still live in a society where bigger boiler = better machine.
It used to be relevant when most machines were heat exchangers but now I’d much prefer a dual boiler for temperature adjustment and consistency.
If you buy one of these, don't forget the promo packs offered free, just enter your details and the machine's details here: https://promotions.breville.com.au/mothers-day-espresso-marc…
thank you, did not know about this!
As a Breville repairer and coffee lover, I'm happy to see this discounted! And also glad to see many of your comments and experiences (good and bad) about this model.
For a dual boiler, you can't beat it for the price. It's got all the important features at a low price. (frankly there's many single boiler machines well over the 1000 mark). Yes breville saves cost by making it with more plastic and rubber rather than all metal.
It's a fantastic machine, I use one. Quite complex on the inside, just like a BMW. Also needs annual/biennial check ups, as people mentioned above, the o-rings on these is the most commonly worn out items, causing leaks internally (bad, will mean rust and electrical problems) and also out of the steam wand. Solenoid failure can also happen (after a few years) causing buzzing noises or zero waterflow to group head, but the solenoid parts are made in Italy, so even commercial machines need these parts replaced after a while. Most of the repairs I do on these can also be done by you guys at home. O-ring replacement, pump replacement, steam ball valve and solenoid.
Only issues with this model that really annoy me are the problems with descale cycle causing steam boiler failure, it's a serious and common issue (mainly on earlier models but also newer ones potentially. Also there's the placement of the steam boiler fill port and descale port o-rings, those are very very hard to get to (former takes around 20 minutes, latter takes at least an hour). Other than that it's a no brainer machine I reckon. Yes I wish there were no o-rings to change and wish that everything was metal and more robust. But that will easily make this a 2k, 3k machine.
Happy to answer any questions! (Shameless plug: I'm a small business selling and repairing these in Melbourne)

probably one of the best machines out there.
