Ozbargain's favourite 25-55g chocolate bar?

When they're at $1 and you decide to value portion control rather than cost/gram, what do you go for?

I still do a bit of the $/g as I grab one of the biggest, the 55g caramel kit-kat. Never disappointed.

I know they've been 89c on spesh, but current standard (and Max I'd pay) @ $1.

I reckon I've missed some, but I think I've got most that are in regular Aus supermarkets. Not being used for marketing purposes, just curious and I currently am craving one :S

Twix because it’s the only candy with the cookie crunch.

    • I don't think I've even ever tried one, but didn't know about this cookie crunch…

    • +6

I’ve spent the last hour preparing ten candy bars with no wrappers or identification of any kind for him to select from.

    • +2

Made in Egypt. Taste like shit now, bring it back to Ballarat.

    • +2

      "TWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIXXXXXX!!!"

  • +4

I like Bueno, but it's small, always expensive, rarely on discount

    • Agreed. :( te hazelnut creme is amazing… would probably be my #2 aus post would do 3x for $3 sometimes, may still do.

      • +1

I also like Crunchie because its large, cheap, and regularly on discount.
Recently tried the Raspberry-Mars Bar and it was great.

Though I don't usually eat chocolate, it kind of becomes a "big deal" for me. Easter hasn't been kind to my belly, with all the half-price Ferroro Rochers.

        • -1

Shiploads in Tassie used to sell 3 packs for $2. I used to stock up on so many. Sadly not anymore.

  • What are these kit kit varieties you speak of?

    • Lol! There were a few amusing autocorrect options, chokito was Choking, Bueno of course Buenos… slipped through. Can't undo.

  • +4

    Call me weird…

    I hate Kit-Kat, but love Kit-Kat Chunky.

    • +1

      You're weird

      as requested

    • Agreed.

    • +1

I was addicted to KK Chunky as a kid. And Dr Pepper.

      • -1

        Are you me?

      • How long ago? KK chunky is relatively a newcomer.

        • Like 22 years ago.

        • +1

sure it is relative newcomer, first had it about 12 years ago in 2000. dont try telling me 2000 was 22 years ago, i am not ready to accept that lol

  • +2

    25-55g chocolate bar

Even at $1 they aren't as good value as the half-price larger version (~150-200g) the same blocks or fun size packs.

  • +2

Always cherry ripe. Twix close second

    • Why? I haven't met your type in person before, but there seem to be a few here lurking.

I was once given one as a kid and thought it was the best muesli bar. I still think it belongs in that category though..

      • +1

Doesn’t taste remotely like a muesli bar to me. It’s just a great chocolate bar, not too sweet, not too much chocolate, the cherry just makes it perfect

  • +4

Turkish Delight, but only after it's been in the fridge so it's a lil snappy.

    • +1

Interesting… I like mine slightly melty and gooey!

      • +1

        Also valid

  • +1

    cherry ripe, yumm

  • +3

    Why two violet crumbles?

Milky bar is technically not chocolate so needs to be removed as an option.

Ingredients Sugar, Full Cream Milk Powder (31%), Vegetable Fat [Emulsifier ( Soy Lecithin)], Emulsifiers ( Soy Lecithin, 476), Flavour. Contains Milk and Soy. May Contain Tree Nuts and Wheat.

Whip was my favourite but can't get that anymore.

  • @MS Paint If you look closely they're a little different.

    • +1

      That makes sense. Cheers

  • +2

Mars bar so versatile- room temp, frozen, fried …

  • +2

anything Cadbury has way too much sugar.

  • +5

Snickers made in china now so I won't be eating those anymore.

    • +4

Such a shame. Same as TWIX which is made in Egypt.

They keep saying they are going to bring back production, but since they have realised they pay a worker for 25c, which is a qtr of what the bar costs, they will keep it there. Bastards.

      • +4

I have been onto them every 6 months for the past 3 years or so. Originally it was due to a refurb and would be 6 months. They said the recipe is the same. But the packaging shows it's different. SNICKERS

    • Rly!! Are many others?

  • +6

    Timeout was my favourite

    • +1

      Isn't this basically a Timeout?

      Article comparing the two

      • +2

        Interesting

  • +2

    Impossible to choose only one.

    • +1

      ¿por qué no todos?

  • +1

    Whichever is on sale

  • +2

Giant Freddos on half-price special at 50c each :).

  • +2

As a kid I hated cherry ripe! I would scoff down a Mars, snickers and crunchie bar whenever I coul. But fast toward 15 years and the thought of eating a full mars bar makes me sick, way to sweet, cheery ripe is now my favourite!

    • crunchie bar

We get Cadbury Favourite boxes at my workplace. We are always stuck with Crunchies. Nobody wants to touch them.

      • You work with people who eat Turkish Delights but not Crunchies? There's something seriously wrong with this picture…

        • The poll suggests Turkish Delights are more popular than Crunchies 🤷

I must say I don't mind Turkish Delights. Crunchies are too hard on my teeth

  • +2

    Daim bar

  • A Mars a day helps you work rest and play.

Earth. It’s what you’d eat if you lived on mars.

Advertising causes me to repeat to repeat advertising causes me to repeat to repeat.

  • +2

    Bring back Polly Waffle.

    • Aren’t they meant to be back? I thought I heard people talking about it at work.

      • +3

They were probably talking about the new girl with blue waffle.

  • +1

This is like picking your favourite child. Too hard to choose.

    • +1

      Yeah it can be…

  • Mars Bar - but specifially the Choc Brownie version. So good… so sad…

    Failing that - Boost.

  • Give me a KitKat, plain, straight up.

  • +2

Definitely Chokito. The sweet malt filling, the crispy bubbles covered in chocolate on the outside… best ever.

  • Cherry ripe for me. For those looking for a healthier alternative, theres a low sugar option by noshu at coles and woolies called cherry and coconut indulgence. Tastes pretty good.

  • White snickers 👍🏻

  • +2

How good is bounty. Takes me back. But a snickers really satisfies

    • +3

Mate Bounty all the way. Where are all the Bounty lovers?

      • +2

Bring back Bounty ice-cream bars I say.

    • +1

Have you tried the whitaker coconut slab? It's got the coconut and the chocolate (just the coconut is spread out within the chocolate)

      • It is good eh…

      • Bounty is bounty. Completely different texture.

  • Wispa

    Like a aero but chunky!

    • Is this in the normal $1 special supermarkets?

  • WHERES MORO!!!!!

Its the unappreciated chocolate bar! And you never get enough of them in the Favourites Box!

    • +1

Moro is pretty much a Mars bar being nougat filled with chocolate. Main difference is caramel.

    • Yeah it's moro less the same as a Mars- is it even sold outside of the favourites box?

      • According to Google. They are at Coles. You can also buy a 28 pack at Catch.

  • You're doing God's work - if God was a marketing exec at a chocolate manufacturer looking to corner the OzBargain cheapskate only buy at $1 market.

    • Lol! Not associated.

  • +1

Surprised at how many like Boost compared to some of the more well know varieties.

  • Anyone not choosing the Whittakers off this available list hasn't had Whittakers.

You can take your cadburys and nestle and shove them where cadburys and nestle comes from

  • Ummm excuse me where is caramilk twirl?

Mint patties too. They are always only $1. So good.

    You've forgotten some others:
    Perky Nana.
    Pinky.

    • Soz I included mint ones in "Peppermint ones", forgot the real name and was mostly working off my memory.

What even are those last two?? :S

  • Rolo?

    • +1

Oh yeah that's a bar hey. The role blocks might be my fav nestle block. But just consume it too fast :(

      • +1

Full of caramel, they do go down way too fast!

  • +1

What is everyone's $price/kg before they are willing to buy Mars confectionery?

The yellow on sale ticket is a lie and not something to go by.

It's genuinely on sale if it's under ~$17 / kg.

  • +1

Used to be snickers till they started getting made in China

  • Knoppers Nut Bar - damn delicious.

    • Just tried this, they're great. 3 for 1.99 atm, not bad.

  • Impossible to choose only one.
