    $49.99 for the Gold Coast

    • I was looking at a bike online yesterday because I'm very mildly interested in getting a bike with Nexus gears. Found a good deal I think but

The delivery options available for shipping this product along with the contents of your basket to Australia are:

      Bulk Tracked Courier Delivery: AU$186.86

Wouldn’t recommend Reid cycles to anyone.
Non existent customer service in store here in SA at least.

    • What would you recommend?

      • Bicycles Online sell Polygon bikes which are much better quality.

These are simple machines. As long as the components are same, I dont think it makes a huge difference for an average rider.

@FlyFire: Reid tend to use more steel parts than other brands (see my comment here)

Not saying this model has but it's worth checking things like whether the spokes are steel or stainless steel etc.

          • @FlyFire: I got the male version of the MTB disc pro for Christmas and I've found the front end rattling a lot on gravel riding. The polygon Cascade 2 comes with a suntour fork (vs zoom on the Reid) which may be better?

            • @heeatseggs: Tbh these are at the lowest end of the spectrum. I would think suntour to be a bit better.

@watchnerd may have more info based on his experiences.

        • Get a Seiko instead
But yeah won't get better value then Reid but I'd get a Giant personally.

You'd get a free first service I'd assume, not worth getting worried, a warranty is a warranty if something is faulty

          • @G-rig:

            not worth getting worried

Tell that to member @baycie, I'm sure he/she wouldn't agree.

@WatchNerd: Yep horrible customer service. They stole our money, refused to refund after sending a product that fell apart and had missing components.

            • @WatchNerd: Oh right what happened?
Like I said it's worth paying more for a proper brand but can't see what can go that wrong. Probably get pinched before you get a cracked frame.

Ok if there is a physical store. Otherwise ACL Or a current affair

No after sales service in my experience. Would not buy from them again

  • +2

I've never had after sales service on a bike. Bikes are fairly simple animals. Maybe having a wheel trued you'd need expert help. What kind of things do they do on your average after sales service?

    • Shifting and brakes adjustment and bolt check was needed after a few weeks of regular riding, but I did it myself. I guess the average person wouldn't be confident in doing a derailleur adjustment.

    • Agreed. Unless you got a broken frame, it's not a great use of time taking the bike back to the shop, explaining the problem, and waiting to get it fixed. You could stay at home and watch a YouTube tutorial and learn something to boot.

Y do u need any after sale service? To me bike is just like a scooter. You ride it afew times a year and get bored and leave it in the shed till next summer.

Don’t believe their offer of free items! We purchased a bike from them many years ago, the seat spilt after the first 1-2 uses and the bike quickly rusted, they promised a free helmet that they charged us for and then refused to refund or fix any of it.

This was the deal we purchased, I should have listened to people’s warnings back then: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/296112

Avoid them and spend your money elsewhere.
