[VIC] Free 2-Years Servicing and up to 20% off Selected Giant Bike Models @ Giants Melbourne, Lygon St, Essendon

110

Giant Melbourne (group of stores, Melbourne, Essendon, and Lygon St presumably with a single owner) are offering the above deal on all bikes. Terms and conditions are linked at the bottom of their website.

Their website shows a list of everything they have in stock across these three stores. There are discounts on a range of models, up to $2,500 off. A few of my picks:

Trance X Advanced Pro 29 0 2021, $11,499, reduced to $8,969
Good bike, well reviewed but Fox Live might not be worth the hassle. Pretty cool if you are into techie stuff though.

Talon 2 2022, was $949 now $859
Nice entry level hard tail. Personally I'd fork out more for a higher spec, but wanted something to compare to the other deal recently posted.

Trance X 29 1, was $5,199 now $4,939
Great spec, solid price. Perfect for someone looking into riding trails around Melbourne and getting into the hobby. .

The free servicing offer includes four of their basic services, valued at $79 each.

If you are interesting in buying something, especially a more expensive model, I'd highly recommend going in store or at least having a chat with them over the phone, as most stores will throw in some other freebies if they think you're on the fence (helmet, accessories, that kind of thing).

Delivery might be free on some models above a certain cost threshold.

  • Hi OP, As the post stands it just looks like general percentage off advertising. This post would work better if you listed some of the actual bikes you believe are great bargains… then it will go a long way in helping our fellow ozbargainers get straight to the bargains which is what ozbargain is all about! Cheers :)

Thanks! I'll put some of my choices in the OP.

  • do ppl really pay almost $1k for a bike which they might use afew times a year?

I wouldn't think so. Why do you assume that people only use them a few times per year?

I wouldn't buy a bike below about 700rrp, especially a mountain bike. Even if you only use it a few times a year, it'll be enjoyable to use and it'll actually be worth something for resale. A 300 dollar kmart bike is worthless in no time at all once components stop working and it falls apart.

The yearly depreciation cost on both is likely in the same ballpark, and one is a lot more fun to use. Only exception would be if you use it in a way that it's at high risk of being stolen.

    • do ppl really pay almost $1k for a bike which they might use afew times a year?

Who cares? People are free to choose what to do with their own money.

    • Of course not, why would you even buy a bike if you're only going to use it a few times a year ?

      What a weird question 😁

    • To a point - it's false economy buying cheap bikes. I've got a Giant from the late 90's which is still going - good frame and quality componentry, probably done tens of thousands of KM over the years and been hammered on and off road with a 90kg rider - depreciation has probably been about $25 per year considering current value - less tyres, basic maintenance and a few parts along the way.

Buying cheap bikes costs way more, including environmentally as you can see from any hard rubbish day.

  • Good luck getting in for a service. Bought 5k bike, came back a year later to be told too busy, go to the guy down the road (their overflow shop apparently) for a service.

  • Hi Nigel,
Thank you for the post regarding our three stores!

I'd love to have a chat about getting you some of our store merch if you would be interested.

Please feel free to give me a call on (03) 9070 2227 or email me on [email protected]

    Cheers
    Mitch
