      • It sent me the usual SMS code and verified fine for me.

        • There’s no option for that for me, it says to call Virgin to verify :/

          • +1

@BargainsGrabber: Yeah it's weird - my wife got it under the Manage Cards section of the App, but I don't get that option on mine

            • @kacak: Did they fix it for you? I still do not see any cards linked to my account.

  • For those who just signed up and had trouble looking for their unique referral code (well, I did), here's where to find it within the app:

signed up and spend $100 via Apple Pay on 12th , settled on 14th but no sign of 20000 point. Still showing 0

Anyone actually received the 20000 point? And how many days after the transaction settle?

    Thx

    • Have you tried contacting them?

    • Hey @ggfatty, have you received your points yet? Thanks!

      • Yes I have got it today. Just need to wait a few days
Now I am waiting my 5000 refer bonus. Not sure how long it will take

        • I did exactly the same via Google pay to Revolut on 13/4/22 and just saw I received 8 pts. Start having a bad feeling about this now…..

          • @ja912son: Same, my Revolut went through on Apple Pay, transaction on Virgin Go went from Pending to Cleared, still no bonus points received

            • @BargainsGrabber: Same. I will give them a couple of days. Plus it’s a public holiday anyway. Should hopefully work out

            • @BargainsGrabber: Update: just got 20k pts added to my account. Just give it a couple of days and you will be fine.

  • They block Revolut 😂

Was still working last night, wow Virgin Money is watching this site

      • Yeh I just tried but it didn't work. Paying off Zip is still fine.

        Used Apple Pay btw.

        • AfterPay should also work.

        • +1

I just did Revolut top up with Google Pay and it was fine.

          • @Miss B: Did you receive the bonus 20000 points? Thanks.

            • @bbking18: Yep, only did the one transaction and I received the points.

              • @Miss B: Great. Thanks. I did one transaction last night and now just wait for points to arrive in 2 days.

    • Revolut worked fine for me, I just hope it will count towards my $100 purchases. I had made 3 small tx with Google Pay which left me with about $71 to spend and I did that full $71 top up to make a total of $101 spend. It changed from pending to settled yesterday, just waiting for the bonus points now.

      • Did Revolut top up count towards your $100 purchases? Thanks.

  • based on points for ebay gift card redemption it is 4.14% cashback if my calulation was right. not too bad!

    • Yes looks like you're right. Not too bad at all. And no exclusions as far as I can tell.

      • +2

Lol. It’s 8 points per transaction and not the dollar amount. I knew it was too good to be true. Could’ve laundered money while earning points at the same time.

        • yeah… found that out after few days… exactly haha

          • @VeroS: Haha dammit I used Ozbargain info to make my financial decisions

  • It's been almost 48hrs and my transaction still says pending. Virgin says this is a retailer issue. Is this true?

    • Groupon?

      • Nope, just a cafe in Melbourne. Same for my mum's too at a different cafe.

    • Same here too, my Revolut transaction made on 14/4 still says pending

    • I would say yes, my revolut transaction was pending for 2 days but went through ok in the end.

  • I have few questions. Thanks
1, Do u need wait for card arrive and use card to spend?
2, After spend $100 and are u get points which value $90? How can u use points to change gift card? Thanks. Currently, I open account and I did not see any points show.

      1. Can add to Google/Apple Pay and use that to pay.
      2. Spend $100 in 30 Days & Get 20,000 Points
  • +3

I signed up on Tuesday, spent $100 at Woolworths on Wednesday, received 8 points yesterday and the bonus 20,000 points today (Saturday).

  • "spend $100 or more" is this required to spend at least $100 in first transaction?

    • No, you only need to spend $100 in total.

  • Anyone confirm that if you lock your account out it auto unlocks after 24 hours? Call centre said there was no one in the transaction account team working (despite their website advertising phone support open 24/7), but also mentioned about the auto unlock..

    • oh geez, I hope so.
I just locked my account coz I entered the verification code instead of the temporary password (like a lot of other people).
Tried calling and just got a recording to leave a msg. waited for the beep, and then "Mailbox Full". I get that it's easter, so I'll try tomorrow morning but reading here, I don't fancy the wait. urgh.

      • Can confirm they lied. Account is still locked.

When trying to call their 24/7 support the mailbox is full.

        • You'll have to call I'm afraid, the call centre were polite but I had to wait forever for them to pick up. They did give a 1,000 points goodwill gesture.

  • Sorry for the dumb question, but how can I use the referral code? I've opened an account with them but there's no step I could put the code in?

    • I finished the sign up on phone browser and the referral code was in the address bar, so might think that is enough.

Where the f are my points virgin.

its free money. Today's 17/4 and promo runs till 30/4, give them a break comrade?

      • Fair enough.

You would think their system would be automated.

        • Mine just got credited.

Is there a way to get the card number digitally? I want to use the menulog deal but menulog don't have GooglePay so I need the card details

    • +1

      Not possible.

  • I understand its my stupid fault for locking my account, however, on the phone waiting for over an hour, do they even have staff on today?

  • damn!! didnt see the referral code!

  • +1

Wow. Has the be the most painless free money I’ve ever gotten. Opened account in a couple of mins. Download digital card to wallet app immediately. Spent $100 at Coles and waited a couple of days for the transaction to process. Bonus points show up straight away and redeemed immediately without issue.

Only annoying thing is there is no website to log in to and the only way to change accounts is to delete the app and re download it (from what I could see anything on IOS. Logout just logs out but keeps your “account” saved.

    • did you get the 1750 points for using it with google/apple/samsung pay? and did you have this offer on your rewards page?

      • Closed the accounts immediately once I got the 20k points so doubt it.

  • Hi, just to clarify I'm going this right…
do I need to transfer money into the virgin go account before i can use it (Inc via Google pay…)
Or do i transfer the funds over to virgin go account to clear it after the purchase

    • +1

It's a debit card. You have to have funds in it, before you can use it, regardless of Google pay or Apple Pay.

      • Thanks for the clarification, appreciated.

  • could you use the tap and go at a retailer without activating? haven't received the physical card yet

    • Yes

  • Received 1750 for using apple wallet, I assume the 20k bonus is separate to this?

    Forgot to use referral ):

    Looking into this and found:
    - 8 Virgin Money Points for every purchase, direct debit and BPAY payment when you meet the Monthly Criteria.
    - Monthly criteria for 18-24 years old: Deposit $1,000 or more from another financial institution (such as your salary) into your Virgin Money Go Account and make at least 5 purchases, direct debits or BPAY payments which settle in that month (not pending).
    - Monthly criteria for over 25 years old: Deposit $2,000 or more from another financial institution (such as your salary) into your Virgin Money Go Account and make at least 5 purchases, direct debits or BPAY payments which settle in that month (not pending).

So after the initial referral and welcome bonus, unless I deposit at least 2k and make at least 5 valid transactions per month, I wouldn't be earning any more virgin money points…

  • can you purchase something before a transfer goes into the account (thereby be in negative) ?

    • +1

Its not a credit card so probably no?
I transferred $ from my main bank account and it goes in instantly (osko)

    • +1

You can, but you'll be charged a $10 fee for overdrawn account so I wouldn't recommend it. For more information refer to their fees and charges webpage

I did payid transfer yesterday and the money went into Virgin Money account instantly. Think transfers under a certain amount, I'm guessing $500, is instant.

      • +1

ok thanks - did a PayID and went through in < 5minutes

Is this offer valid for existing Virgin Go customers? i.e. Can I open another account and access the deal?

  • Just signed up but chose the wrong account (rookie mistake!)- no issues with ID verification but had to close the saver account and open the Go account instead. Logging into the app was a little tricky, the verification code took a while to come through so I waited for a bit before trying again and got through fine.

Can anyone confirm if this will work with BeemIt payments? Added the card to Googlepay.

  • Weird only got 8points.

    • +1

When did you make the purchase?

According to this comment, they got their 8 points 2 days after purchase, then the 20,000 bonus points a day after that i.e. 3 days after purchase.

I purchased on Sat and today Mon I can only see 8 points also. But I would expect the bonus points to come through tomorrow or day after..

      • Thank you Alinnia.

Made a purchase 3 days ago.

        • +1

Should get another 1750 as well if you used Apple Pay - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/696113

          • +1

@Moo Deng: I didn't know about that promo actually until after my purchase. I used GooglePay to make my purchase on Sat. Will be interested to see if I get credited 1,750 in the next 5 business days.

Also noticed I got credited bonus 20,000 bonus tonight for my purchase on Sat, sooner than I expected so that's good at least.

            • +1

@Alinnia: Can you please advise what GC is best value. From what I can see coles GC is best value for points.

              • +3

@Iluvfreebies: There's are gift cards available for many merchants so it will comes down to the individual's needs. Some of these merchants I never purchase from so I wouldn't consider redeeming for their gift cards.

Personally I am eyeing the GC for Woolworths (redeem 17,865 points for $100 GC), Coles (redeem 17,955 points for $100 GC),Amazon (redeem 17,955 points for $100 GC) or eBay (redeem 18,050 points for $100 GC).

  • Just received my 20,000 points 2 days after my purchases were approved. For anyone who used the referral link, how long did it take for the 5,000 bonus points to be added to your account?

    • +2

About a week after they spent $100 I received the referral bonus.

    • +4

I don't think the referees actually get 5k bonus points in addition to the 20k… seems the people here who were saying you get both were wrong. Has anyone here (as a referee) actually received 5k bonus points in addition to the 20k? Haven't seen anyone mention they got it. Note that the guy who replied to you above received the 5k as the referrer.

Topped up my Revolut account (via Google Pay) on the 22nd, points in there this morning.

    • How did you get the card into Google Pay? The card details aren't showing in my VirginMoney App and don't have physical card so can't scan; can't find option to add to GPay in app.

      • +1

In the Virgin app, go to Manage cards, click on the Go Account, then add card to Google Pay. I don't remember if I had to wait for the card to be generated, but I'm pretty sure I didn't need to receive it first.

        • Yes, thank you, I'd looked at that part of the app, but the applicable information doesn't appear there and no GooglePay option. I've had a look at this comment section and seems it's a known problem. Tried the "fixes" and no good. Probably just have to wait for the physical card and go from there.
          Cheers for helping out.

  • Do I have to spend $100 before 30th April, or just open an account by 30th April and spend $100 within the following 30 days?

    • +1

      The latter.

Welcome Bonus: Offer ends 30 April 2022. New Virgin Money Go Account customers will receive 20,000 bonus Virgin Money Points when they spend $100 or more in the first 30 days on their debit card (settled transactions, not pending) from account opening.

      • That's what I thought, but just wanted someone else's take on the wording. Thanks mate.
