Wow nice. On the back of the Telstra day deal too.

    • +1

Posting up here so everyone can see that this deal expires on 11th April. You'll see this if you search for pixel 6 Pro on Google search, the top (ad) result says "Google Pixel 6 Pro - Save $200 until 11 April".

OP please update this deal to include the expiry date.

Also it seems the 128GB models have also dropped to the same price at OfficeWorks: https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/c/technology…

256GB models showing as unavailable online so try your luck in store.

the day after they told me on the phone they couldn't match Telstra's price !!!

    • +2

Telstra was a member only deal though not so? If it was a straight up sale they probably would have

  • I've been happy with my Pixel 6 Pro. There has been a few software issues however the last couple of software updates seem to have fixed them for the most part.

    • Are these 'unbareable to live with' as some self claimed experts say ?

      • It was at the start, but 3 to 4 monthly updates later, it's better.

      • +5

There were some major deal breaking bugs if they affected you. People were losing mobile and wifi connectivity after an update.

Luckily, my biggest issue was battery not lasting as well as you expect for ~5000mah, but I knew it wasn't great going in.

The worst part of the Pixel is the overly defensive community.

        • +4

The worst part of the Pixel is the overly defensive community.

But who will stand up for the Billion Dollar Multinational if I don't?

      • +3

The fingerprint sensor sucks compared to the old back of phone one on previous pixels but other than that I haven't had issues

      • Not unbearable to live with. The worst issue I had were some calls dropping a few months ago. Other than that just the odd crash.

      • nothing negative from me for the pixel 6. battery is fine (but i did not turn off adaptive battery setting). no abnormal wifi/call dropouts.

only oddity is, perhaps once a week, phone will reboot while not being used. i.e. after a few hours of no use, i'll pickup phone only to find it shows the message "password after reset".

        • If memory serves, I believe you're required to enter you password every 72hrs. I wonder if this is what has been happening.

          • +1

@albert0pia: Nah not that message. The message is broadly "password required after reset" even though I didn't reboot. There's a different message for the haven't-been-used-in-a-while-please-enter-your-password.

      • I returned mine after suffering from the bug where the screen would get stuck at 60hz refresh rate. That was a deal breaker for me.

    • How's the finger print sensor?

      • Ms Shmahoo has a G6Pro and the worst thing she can say about the fingerprint sensor is that "it is good, just not as fast as on her older 3XL

        • I have sweaty fingers and mine wouldn't work half the times. I ended up selling for loss.

      • Finger print sensor is 'fine' not great and not terrible. It does the job. It isn't as good as my old 2 XL that had the rear fingerprint sensor.

  • No major issues with mine. not more or less than any other phones I've owned.

    • Same here

  • Thanks OP.

    Time to Officeworks price beat.

Oh, I long for the days of the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. Brilliant phones, great quality, great specs, bargain basement price.

The Pixel phones have changed the market segment, which is OK if they want to have products in the flagship segment, but leaves a gaping hole at the bottom. Bring back the Nexus line I say!

    • The N5X was plagued with bootloop issues and mine didn't even make it to the end of two years. Sure they were affordable, but at what expense?

      • I did not have that issue. I used mine for at least 3 IIRC…

        • Lucky you, for most it was a ticking time bomb. My point is there are sacrifices made when technology is cheaply manufactured.

On the flip side, I have owned three Pixels (P2, P4 and now P6) and all have been rock solid. I also have confidence that they will last for as long as I need them to.

Worth the 'premium' in my opinion.

      • +1

Not really arguing for or against, but the 5X was a special case. Partially an LG thing, as they had a lot of bootloops across a few models at the time and partly Qualcomm as that generation of flagship Snapdragons were running super hot. Samsung ran Exynos across the board for the Galaxy S series that year it was so bad.

      • Yep but reliability hasn't increased with the price. I've owned three pixels all have needed to be replaced, 2 of them twice.

Only thing that 'justifies' the price going up is trying to make them more premium feeling.

Wish they'd go back to simple plastic design with the full high end internals/camera for a lower price. That's just my preference obviously.

Same price at JB. Stack with $300 bonus trade in voucher. So glad I held back yesterday.

    • How did you get the $300?

  • Damn I wish my OnePlus 5t would break so I could justify this. I'm so close to biting the bullet

  • P6P doesnt have unlimited photo backup (not even in storage quality). I wonder if they'll include it in future Pixels so I can skip this for now and stay on my P4a. Unless there's a work around.

    • -3

You don't mind Google going though your photos?

      • They already have all of my photos

        • -3

Of course, cause you've uploaded them. But don't you think free unlimited Google Photos storage sounds dodgy?

  • +1

I love my Pixel 6 Pro, very happy with it, I've previously owned the Pixel 2XL, 3XL and 4XL and this would be my second favourite after the 2XL.
The camera quality is amazing and a noticeable step up from an already fantastic quality camera from previous generations.
Also don't forget 10% credit if you have Google One 2TB or above, annual cost $125 for the 2TB cloud storage.
I have this and can always find an excuse to make yet another purchase from their Google Store within 12 months.

  • +3

I so want a smaller pixel to upgrade from my 4A.
The 6s are just too big for me, can't buy 5 anymore, and the unreleased 6A seems to be following the big size too 😭

    • I'm in the exact same situation.
P6 too big. Plus I do like that 4a has unlimited storage saver photos.

    • Yeah same. I really was hoping 6a would be pixel 5 size. Bummer!

  • +1

Really live my P6Pro…. Best Pixel yet, just wish they would activate FaceID. That's the only feature from my 4XL I'm still longing for.

  • Looks like JB Hi-Fi are matching some of this too. Could be good for people with gift cards.

  • Excellent, Telstra flagged my account when I tried to buy a second phone for the misses

  • Don't bother spending $45 on the 30W wall charger - the P6 Pro only charges at around 18-20 watts. Similar money gets you a ~65W GAN charger with 3 ports.

On our 4th P6 Pro. First 2 were duds, replaced by Google. 3rd was good out of the box, so yesterday we bought another one.

Sensational phone when you get a good one. The adaptive battery life is the real deal, cameras are best on market, and I'm a convert to pure Android 12. Cons are "only ok" fingerprint scanner (it has significantly improved with software updates), and network coverage not quite Telstra blue tick standard like most Samsungs.

    Keeper.

    • Do you have the Pixel stand as well? The adaptive battery charging works with wireless charger?

    • +1

Hey mate mind expanding upon what made them duds?

  • OP, can you share the link where you select the marketing emails from Google. I didn't receive any email from them.

  • +2

JB Hifi matching this, along with $300 bonus trade in credit - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/693117

Ended up paying $350 out of pocket for Pixel 6 Pro 128GB!

    • wow - what did you trade in, a Nokia 3310?

      • Lol, S21 FE for $450

    • Wahhh got a new Pixel 6 yesterday

      • If you bought a pro from JB hi-fi they will refund the difference

        • Nah just the standard. Would have made the jump for a $100 difference though for sure.

  • just brought mine at Officeworks for $1097 Pixel 6 Pro Stormy Black 128GB, 2 hour click and collect too.
Tried the Telstra deal but it required a contract to buy. This deal is much better as no contract and $202 off. Guess they had to lower to stop them from having to price match.

    • Telstra deal but it required a contract to buy

I was able to login to my Telstra account (I have a Boost service with a Telstra ID), and get to checkout without selecting a plan. Worth keeping in mind if you want to buy on Telstra day in future.

  • +5

Harvey Norman have it for $1098 + $100 Gift Card also for those interested.

    • Useful if JB will price match that with the same $100 GC.

      • not the store i got put through too =/

  • -3

isn't their in house tensor chip is crap !!!!

  • Hopefully they reduce the Pixel 6 price so we can pricematch with Officeworks

  • This phone (6 pro) is exceptional for me.

It's hold for me and screen calling feature itself are phenomenal. Waiting for hours on hold? No dramas - phone will hold for you on line and will ring you back when someone is on the line. Speed, battery life, screen, all solid. Fingerprint reader is abit meh, but manageable.

Cameras fantastic. Shame about no google photos storage, but thats what i keep a pixel 1 around for.

  • My partner's Pixel 6 Pro is nice but has this dumb bug where the proximity sensor fails when she's on a call and she ends up muting herself on calls most of the time. Common bug, no reliable fix found yet. Super dumb but if you don't make a lot of calls you might not ever notice it.

I'm keen to upgrade but don't really want the Pro - even the base Pixel 6 is a bit too big for me, but the Pro seems ridiculously huge and heavy. Hoping they do a similar discount soon for the base model.

  • I bought from JB and utilised their $300 trade in bonus.
So bought the 256GB version for $1449 minus $200 minus $380 for handing in my ageing 3XL

  • Right now the pixel 6 Pro is $300 off on Vodafone if you don't wanna buy one outright.

Also I just noticed the s22 ultra had a deal when you trade in your phone (I'm offered $160 for pixel 4xl) you get an additional $600 off over your billing period. So essentially you get $600 off s22 ultra plus your trade in credit.
That's the s22 for $1128 if I trade my pixel 4xl. Not sure.if I should go this it pixel 6 pro for
    $980.
What would you guys and girls go for?

  • my google 6 pro from JB HiFi arrived today. It's beautiful, but takes a little while to set up

  • Bought one yesterday from JB.

While porting in to Telstra. They matched this price even this was expired.
$800 GC, ended up costing me $600 (bough the 6 pro 512GB version so I do not have to buy another phone for 3 years)

On Saturday they had $1000 GC :(
