            • @mrgeckoz: My old Saeco actually grinds and brews twice when you press the double shot button, instead of trying to squeeze more grinds into the puck.

    • Just wondering on first point. So you start the grind, THEN adjust the setting while it is grinding? Or turn it, THEN start grinding?

      • You start the grind THEN adjust the setting while it is grinding

      • +1

ONLY Adjust the setting when the grinder is grinding. XD

What $$$'s am I looking at to get one of these fixed? I bought one about 6 years ago in this deal ——> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/196648

Hardly used it…maybe once or twice per month max. Then one year ago it wouldn't turn on. No lights…just completely dead.

    • Crazy that you bought this at basic half the current retail price in Australia years ago.

      • I'm guessing it will cost me just as much to get it fixed. My gf now wants one of these ——> https://www.amazon.com.au/Automatic-intuitive-different-EP43…

I don't want to spend 1k+ on something that will barely get used. I'd rather get the old one fixed, or maybe get this one for $600 less.

        • +1

Tell your gf to buy it? Save yourself the $$$

You can find used units of these for $350, unfortunately most people wouldn't even look at something for under $50-100 per hour.

Maybe better off scrapping for parts!

Tried flipping the switch on the back?

      Kidding!

Sounds like a dead control board if you're not getting anything. Probably $200-$250 to fix.

    • +2

If you get Delonghi to fix it, it will cost heaps.

If you replace the power board yourself $50

If you replace the faulty components on the power board yourself $6

      https://outwestcoffee.com.au/index.php/2019/03/20/repairing-…

*Do a search for reset procedures on your machine first, but sounds like a straight forward power supply issue. Make sure your brew unit is clean. Generally dirty machines jam and chew more power and the power supply falls over.

**These things are pretty easy to work on. They initially look intimidating once removing the covers (which slide off after removing the screws, don't yank them off) but pretty straight forward and well designed to be repaired.

  • does this have a separate power cord that you can swap for an AU plug?

  • $717 at TGGCommercial for anyones interest.

TGGC prices change quite often - bought one of these there in Nov 2021 for $525.

  • Any discounts on a manual coffee machine at the moment?

    • +1

If you're willing to spend about $100 more (+ grinder cost), I'd get this:

      Gaggia Classic Pro

Not a true manual machine, but I assume you mean something like this.

  • Wonder how long this will last? Was thinking of price matching in JB.

Got some gift cards to use there

  • Hey guys dumb question, so this machine grinds beans? I don’t need to buy a separate grinder?

    • Nope - beans go in the back, ground pucks land in the cassette and coffee out the front.

    • Yes, it’s automatic, aka bean to cup.

  • +1

Anyone know how to automate one of these to turn on in the morning on a schedule?

    • It doesn’t turn on when power is turned on. It requires a button press, so you wouldn’t be able to use a smart plug. Seems like overkill though as it’s very quick to heat up and be ready to make coffee.

  • This looks good but a bit big, can anyone recommend anything smaller with the same capability - just lower volume?

  • +1

For what it's worth I didn't like my Magnifica and sold it. I have the Dedica + Smart Grinder Pro at work which I found makes a much better shot. I could not get a strong enough pour from the Magnifica.

I drink black coffee only and found the Magnifica always too watery.

  • These are an excellent upgrade from a capsule machine. Pays for itself in a less than a year when you factor in the cost of coffee. $12/kg for Aldi beans for this machine versus ~$80/kg for some of the more expensive capsules. Better for the environment too.
I had mine for a year or so but there is a limit to how strong a coffee it can output. In the end upgrade-itis hit and I sold it and got a second hand manual coffee machine and grinder (Rancilio) for about what I sold the Magnifica for. The coffee from the Rancilio is miles ahead of the Magnifica but it is also a lot more effort to make a coffee. For no fuss, quick, and reasonable tasting coffee you can't go wrong with the Magnifica.

    • I think aldi beans have gone up in price $15/kg if I'm not mistaken, agree with your points though.

  • We bought a factory second over 5 years ago now and have been making ~5 coffees p/d and it is still going strong. Never had any issues with it and there is plenty of videos on youtube to trouble shoot anything (e.g. cleaning, adjusting the grind, etc). I rarely use the milk frother as we drink our coffee black but works well when we do use it (we bought a metal jug for it and that works really well).

  • Unless you like just espresso one shot or no shot or long blacks or shot blacks. I don't seen a time saver with this. because most of you I will bet will like milk based drinks, so you cappuccino and cafe lattes. Which still means you have to froth the milk manually. The only benefit to saving time with this machine is if you don't drink milk based drinks in this case it very fast.

The settings are decent so you can find tune it to a certain degree for taste at acceptable levels.

    • Frothing milk is easy and fast, pulling a proper espresso shot takes more effort and time, so there is a significant time saving

  • PS use shopback 6% cashback vs 0% @ cashrewards

  • So will come with a UK plug, right?

  • Anyone successfully do a price match from JB or any other retailer? (If they'll match considering it's Amazon and a UK import).

I'm only able to go to a store on Saturday, hope this price stays and I can get a match.

  • +2

I did a time test with my Magnifica tonight. It took 2 minutes and 50 seconds from a cold start to brew a double shot and froth milk (about 100ml milk) then to the mouth. Quicker than my old instant coffee days and 100% better.

Thanks OP! Ordered this on the 5th of April but still hasn't been shipped by amazon. Anyone having the same problems?

  • Does the 2 year warranty apply in Australia if this is a UK model?

  • +3

I think this model is discontinued and being replaced by Magnifica Evo, hence the discount.
New model has a facelift with a touch screen, but i bet the brew system, grinder and control system will be the same.
$639 delivered via Amazon UK I think it’s a not bad deal. (Dropped from $845 according to 3xCamel)

    • Thanks! Any idea when they will deliver?

      • Sorry no clue.
For reference, I have purchased a few kitchen tools via Amazon US, items got despatched next day, took about 2-3 weeks to deliver.

  • Anyone had theirs actually shipped yet?
