You're saving $17.52 with PAPP15 (and $19.85 with PAPR17) since the store discount is always on.

  • There is a non-app/smartphone version called IRF-4S which can be had for $54.40 including a nice storage case. Cannot recommend this enough if you're like me and don't like relying on an app. It also has massive range between the base unit and control unit while I assume the smartphone version would have pretty limited range. Aside from that note, I always recommend Inkbird. I have a bunch of products from them.

    • I have this, even left it in the rain, dried it out, never stopped.

    • The WiFi version has the best range as you can connect to it as long as you have a data connection.

It’s been good while doing a long cook and needing to duck out to do other things, however I haven’t used it as much as I had envisioned. I’m usually around the house when running the Weber.

I might grab this unit for the price as I’ve been looking at getting another temperature probe for doing other cooks at the same time. It would be good to have a stand alone unit that didn’t need connecting to an app to get up and running.

  • Does anyone know if the smartphone app can show you a history graph of the temperature? Being to get an idea of the temperature rate-of-change would be very handy.

Edit: got a chance to watch a YouTube video and yes, it does exactly that.

    • I've had one of these for about 18 Months and yeah it graphs out the temps over the time of your cooks which is handy if you are doing long cooks and spending time away from the BBQ or want to see how quickly / slowly your temps change. It's also awesome to be able to check your temps while out and about. Main downside of this model is it only connects to 2.4GHz wifi. I have a Mesh system that auto selects between the 2.4 and 5 channel and it was a nightmare connecting to it. However if your WiFi is the standard 2.4 and 5.0 channel setup then I highly recommend it.

      • dude tell me about it, i use two samsung smartthings hubs and there's literally no way to force it to 2.4GHz only - you basically have to walk far enough away so the 5GHz drops out and it's forced to the 2.4 (they literally recommend that to you). should be illegal these days to sell 2.4-only devices.

        • I use Decco X68's for my mesh. The way I was able to do it was to setup a guest network and go into the settings of the guest network and disable the 5ghz channel. I could then connect to the guest network only on the inkbird. The Decco settings let me do this though not sure about the samsung.

    • I use inkbird thermostats for my aquariums. On the app it charts all the temps for each day. The app is brilliant. Connected easily to my Xiaomi ax6000 mesh network

    • One thing to watch for, as soon as you turn the unit off you lose all the graph data (even though it's in the cloud). You need to screenshot/export to CSV before turning it off if that's your thing.

      • Yeah, I thought the app would retain all the history, but unfortunately not.

        Need to export and save!
