Looking at the small print, as I'm a bit wary of Scoopon, and I found this:

"After the initial box, you will continue to receive Harvest Boxes unless you cancel your weekly deliveries (this can be easily done online at any time)" and "Credit/debit Card information will be required at registration"

And so that's where they catch the unsuspecting customers. Many people won't realise they're actually signing up for an ongoing subscription. Dodgy if you ask me.

    • +2

Those are Harvest Box registration/ Billing issues not Scoopon.
Normally you can get the first box free, not pay for it!
I posted a link below for free nuts

Link for free trial box… Save your $1 & get 2nd box 1/2 price.
      http://www.harvestbox.com.au/Affiliate/CM/

Still have those CC & cancellation issues, but I suspended my order (on line - details below) for a months 'holiday' from just after delivery - to make sure I have time to cancel before paying full price for next delivery. Worked for me before.

      • And posted earlier by mampha. Kudos!
Forget the Scoopon deal & get your nuts for free!!

"you will continue to receive Harvest Boxes unless you cancel your weekly deliveries"

    • +1

do they stay at $1/box (which i doubt)??
If they do then it's still a good deal, although it just needs a note that its a subscription.

      • +1

nope, reading fine print it looks like its only valid for 1 box. so the others are full (unknown!) price. dodge.

        • +1

          $7.95

  • was just going to post the replies above , be careful people.

  • I saw somewhere on their site a while back, it says may take a few days to complete cancellation.

    • +1

Nah…I think it should be alright, it says :

In order to cancel future deliveries and membership, including any free box trials or promotions we require the cancellation is completed up to 6 working days prior to your next scheduled delivery date due to Australia Post regular mail delivery timeframes. Failure to cancel within this time frame may incur a charge for the box. Cancelations must be processed online via your membership pages.

      • Mmm yeah no thanks…

      • Read my suggestion below - say you are going on holiday (in the section of the site), gives you plenty of time to cancel. It works.

  • +7

A better deal IMHO would be to bypass Scoupon altogether, and just use their on-site promotion, whereby you get the first box free of charge, and then the second box at half price ($7.95 normal price per box, so just shy of $4).
    THEN cancel :)

    • This is THE DEAL! Great one mampha!

  • No deal, Rip Off
    Free here http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/62969

    • Strange - people negging a free deal???

      • I think it is the "trap" part they are negging.

        • True - highdealer has negged the deal - missed that.
Not worth negging over a $1 difference.

  • +4

$7.95 for a box of nuts. That's nuts. For a little more you can buy kilo bags of em' at the local fruit shop.

    • These are tasty (4 small) combinations of nuts, dried fruit, chocolate etc. Seems designed as a treat delivered to your workplace to share as a treat each week.

      • +8

I could do the same by bring my sack of nuts to work -

        ….that sounds dirty.

        • I used their combinations to mix my own - the combinations are listed at Harvest Box, rated by popularity.
          But good for free sample.

    • +1

The cost of this deal works out to be about $70-80/KG (package contents about 100-120g) …….you'd need to be mad. Not to mention a shameful wasteful of packaging.

      • Umm. no.
The cost of this deal is $1 for about 125g of nuts, fruit etc, or $8/kg.
Free if you go straight to Harvest Box, so $0/kg delivered!
If you are crazy enough to continue ordering, its about $64/kg delivered - but thats beyond this deal & up to you. Just cancel.

I weighed the selections when I got this for free - averaged 125g/box.
The dearer the selection of ingredients - the smaller weight.

As for packaging, sending nuts in a paper packet won't arrive fresh or hygenic. The 4 plastic containers in each box may be an issue for some - so don't buy, but the box is recycled cardboard & recyclable.

But I only got the free sample. I now buy my nuts in bulk, take my own bags, and store in recycled glass jars. Harvest Box gave me some good tasty ideas for combinations of nuts & fruit, which I now mix myself. They have the combinations shown on their site - but (free) tasting is believing!

Was a free treat & has helped me stay away from unhealthier food by tasting how good fresh ingredients are.

        • Why don't you tell us what combos you mix up yourself?

        • Just look at their site - it has a few good ideas.
I mainly cashews, cranberries, pineapple, almonds, raisins, coconut
          eg http://www.harvestbox.com.au/browseProducts/1/DRIED-FRUIT-&-…
PINA COLADA (CASHEW, PINEAPPLE, COCONUT SLIVERS)
BY THE BEACH (MANGO, MACADAMIAS, COCONUT SLIVERS, BRAZIL NUTS)
WILD SIDE (WHITE MULBERRIES, WALNUTS, CRANBERRIES)

  • So this deal is to pay $1 to Scoopon, then order the box from Harvest Box.
But if you bypass Scoopon, you get it free by entering one of the codes already given by OBers or google a code as I did! Once you get the free box, they give you another free code to share.
Have done this before - tasty free nuts, easy to cancel, and no hassles.
Why give Scoopon your money??? Not a deal.

  • I used 1 year old free code found by Googling.

    Prompt delivery.
Cancellation was simple online. Was worried about giving CC details- no worries.
Got charged for nothing. No annoying emails as long as you unsubscribe.

Tasty, very fresh, convenient, quirky how you rate your nuts, but I wouldn't pay the $7.95 (was $6.95 before) delivered price for 4 (30g on average) containers of nuts, fruit, chocolate. But got ideas of how to put a delicious mix of nuts & fruit together. Worth the free try.

  • +1

…we require the cancellation is completed up to 6 working days prior to your next scheduled delivery date due to Australia Post regular mail delivery timeframes.

Why 6 days? Well whatever the reason - it is too close to 7 days or the (last) day you got the last box. Seems like an entrapment to me. You really have to wait for the 2nd box to arrive, and at that exact day you have to hit Cancel button.

And neg for instead having to pay $1 you can get it for free.

    • As I posted in last free deal…
After registering, simply go to the section saying you will be away, put the period from the day or so after first delivery until say a month later. This then shows next delivery date is a month after first - easy. Plenty of time to cancel without the worry of being billed for next order.

      • +1

Is it worth it for a tiny box of nuts?

        • They were 4 tasty treats - and free!! I like a new experience.
Only a few minutes to fill in code & details, then cancel when arrive. Easy.
(Compared with the time I wasted on Winemarkets site today chasing free wine, this is a better & healthier deal!!!)
Would like every week, but not at the price.

      • To delay further deliveries… & ensure you cancel in time
        http://www.harvestbox.com.au/Account/Deliveries
        Then enter 'holiday' dates under
        "I'm taking a holiday
Please pause my deliveries while I bask in the sub-tropics"
(My 1st delivery is on 9 May, followed by a 1/2 price box a week later, so my holidays start 21May!)
        Click Suspend Order.

  • Link for free trial box… Save your $1 & get 2nd box 1/2 price.
    http://www.harvestbox.com.au/Affiliate/CM/
    Your first box is free
Your next box will cost $3.97
Then each box will cost: $7.95

Got hungry describing these treats & ordered another free box.

Just used it - took 1 minute
(Only tick 1 delivery day or will get more deliveries before can cancel!)
    "Full Order Overview
    Weekly Delivery Days: Wednesday
Your first delivery will be: May 9, 2012
First payment date: May 10, 2012"
CC details needed for order, so cancel after 1 order.

    • Yup… as I told you 5 hours ago :D
If you sign up, they then send you a tempter for week 3 as well.
"As a little thankyou, Clare is going to place a FREE or heavily discounted partner offer in your 3rd box if you continue."
As well as your link for friends get their first week free, as has been posted here before. However, this deal is better if you want more nuts so to speak, unless you want to use a different email signup weekly and holiday unsubscribe then unsubscribe ;)
Keep in mind that with this one you DO have to stay subscribed for the 2 weeks (with second week at $3.97) before you can unsubscribe, whereas with the free friend sub or the scoupon at $1 you can cancel immediately as far as I read it.

      • Yes- as you had already posted. OOPs! (I even gave you a + for it.)

I read your helpful post, but thought they would not send me more nuts to the same adress as I got free nuts before, and forgot your post 5 hours later while thinking of these small but tasty treats. But they do (different name, email, same address). Guess if you were in a workplace, there may be a few nuts going there, so same address but different name & email would be normal. Kudos goes to you!

Still, reinforcing the free nuts advantage rather than buying through Scoopon helps sell a bargain. But seems little interest due to the simple CC & Cancel issues.

        • +1

Ha ha… you're nuts on this deal huh?
Well I am happy for free nuts but sure won't be forgeting to cancel… I hope?!
Undoubtably yummy and convenient but pricey at full price. Definitely a better deal for free than $1, even if you don't want $3.97 for week two… in which case code 48809L4XUIX should do it for a free one week then cancel deal.
I think perhaps my address is an office? A REALLY big one too :)

        • Sharing the love with your friends I see. You are nuts ;)

  • "If you purchased a voucher from one of our daily deal partners you can register on our special deal registration page HERE. Simply enter your voucher accurately and follow the prompts. You will receive 1 box per week inline with the number of boxes purchased from your deal company. You can cancel online anytime if you choose to not continue to receive any future Harvest Boxes. We hope you will stay but there is no commitment.

Please note, as detailed in the terms and conditions you are required to enter you payment details for any future deliveries. You can of course cancel online at anytime if you feel you don't want to receive any more boxes than the deal offer."

I don't think it is worth all the hassles for just one tiny pack of nuts.

  • wtf, they start charging my credit card before then even sent the first box

    • Didn't happen when I got free box a few months back. Cancelled before hand. As I suggested, enter 'going on holiday' on site day after first delivery to delay any charge, then have time to cancel. Charge is for 2nd delivery.

  • Just received my 4 free (40g ea) tasty nut selections in the mail:
Fruity Call (macadamia, crown sultana, mango)
Cherry Bomb (cherry, roast almond, dark chocolate, coconut)
Ka Ka Cashew (roast cashew, roast peanuts)
Gold n Brown (Apricot, green raisin, flame raisin)

  • I ordered for Friday delivery. I received the first box (free) Monday and got:

I'm nuts you're crackers (ROAST ALMONDS, YOSHINO CRACKERS, WASABI PEAS)
Kokoda Trail (ROAST ALMONDS, PISTACHIO KERNELS, CRANBERRIES, FLAME RAISINS, MACADAMIAS, SUNFLOWER SEEDS, PEPITAS, MILK CHOCOLATE)
Carnivale (ROAST ALMONDS, BRAZIL NUTS, COCONUT SLIVERS)
    Smokin (FLAME RAISINS, SMOKED ALMONDS)

The presentation was great, the mixes absolutely divine!! I could get addicted to these!
I left the delivery as Friday to see how they went the second week…. I got it Thursday. I have cancelled the deliveries, but it says on the system that the second order is being processed. Obviously Aus Post is a bit of a spanner.

I got (1/2 price, and happy with that plus the freebie as the quality was excellent):
    OMG Wasabi (Wasabi roasted cashews)
By the Beach (brazil, coconut, macadamia, natural mango)
HB Power Mix (blueberry fusion, macadamia, raisin, sultana, pepita, pistachio, sunflower seed)
Rocky Road (sour cherry, pecan, milk chocolate)

    Damn nice!
42BSE8LL gets you your first box free when you sign up. Cancelling was easy and I immediately got an email to confim.

    • Good to hear - that has been my experience too - never a problem.
And the nuts are tasty. But have got a 1/2 price deal on nuts (crunchy raw almonds $5/kg!) & deli items so now mix my own selections.

Of course you can send yourself free nuts (same address, different name & maybe CC - as if it is a workplace or someone else at home). Worked for me (1 free, 1 2/2price deal).
