  • any dram? hows it compared vs 980 pro?

    • +4

Well, for starters, this one is gen3 whereas the 980 Pro is gen4. They are not in the same league at all.

      • Any practical difference for 99% of PC users?

        • +1

To the average/majority of people. The SN570 would be phenomenal speeds. The 980 Pro would be ludicrous speeds. Watching movies, running Firefox or some casual gaming would be completely fine. When you get into specialist fields such as video rendering, top of the line gaming, IT enthusiast, etc, then of cause they will see a difference.
Your mum checking Facebook and playing Wordle will not see any difference between the two.

          • +1

@spacemansparrow: +1 I like how you’ve incorporated wordle to make it relatable :)

Oh, and https://duotrigordle.com/ for the win

Yeah except that in those scenarios you wouldn't notice a difference from a platter external over USB.

I am going to risk myself here so you don't have to ask, "Is this PS5 compatible?"

    • +3

      PS5 requires a PCIE Gen 4.0 ssd.

This is a PCIE Gen 3.0 ssd.

      This one is not compatible.

Instead of the WD 570, you might as well go for the Samsung 970 Evo Plus. It is slightly cheaper, has better endurance and has DRAM too.

    • While I agree with the general idea, where can you get the 970 Evo Plus 2TB slightly cheaper? Cheapest seems to be around $295 at the moment.

Edit: Actually nevermind found it shopping express with their 10% off site wide

  • Seems Amazon has now raised the price up $23.70, to now $306.13..
