        Hmmm let me see… if its a choice between a shiny black brick, or something that actually has a bit of a style (ie the seagate) I'd take the latter thanks.

        I spose when LaCie brings out their brick mouse (like this one http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/gadgets/soft-mouse-concept-looks-…) we'll have people raving about how sexy it is too?

        C'mon guys see thru the brand name marketing hype and see it for what it is - a black brick!

        Looks is one thing, but reliability is another. We sell Lacie peripherals at work and so many of their external drives have higher than acceptable failures. Sometimes it's not just the drives, but things like power supplies with 5 pins (S-Video style) instead of one plug (the pins tend to snap off quite often). I even spoke to a Lacie tech and he admitted there were a lot of issues with regards to their power supply bricks..

        I'd go for the Seagate.
